A joke ending that got really serious. Like REALLY REALLY serious.
I mean it's not actually supposed to be a joke but yeah
@@serraramayfield9230 It was, at least initially. Development of ending E was hidden until the game was close to being completed (according to the wikipedia).
Besides, it kind of works as a "punishment" for the player for expecting to be rewarded with a better ending after enduring the pain that is getting every weapon just to unlock it.

"Ending E was added by Taro and a small group of developers as a practical joke, and a homage to The End of Evangelion. Taro eventually revealed that Ending E was first conceived as a singing competition against a giant version of pop singer Ayumi Hamasaki, but the plan was immediately rejected.”
Knowing how Taro likes to troll people, I wouldn't be surprised.
How is it a joke ending though?
I swear, Yoko Taro can come up with the most random things ever, but then change it into a deep meaning full story that can make you question life.

The way drakengards ending slowly shift from Dark fantasy to full on Cosmic horror is amazing and one of a kind
Its no wonder people love the DrakeNier series and lore so much

i remembered when i play this part in high school, i had to pause the game and memorize the patterns of last part
thats the reason yoko hate us and make DoD3 ending D branch harder than DoD1 ending E
thats impossible though, the camera points itself down and away from everything while the games paused
@@upr_Krps i did it with the pause trick thou dunno if the camera went down or not thou but i 100% remember doing it that way otherwise i couldnt have passed it

I can see this being frustrating to die multiple times then to defeat her just to get shot down anyway

I have not played Drakengard since it came out a long time ago and I did not know Yoko Taro created and directed this game as well. I played Nier Automata demo 4 years ago but never bought the game until April 2021 and have not stopped playing this game NieR Automata 95% completion and Replicant I just started. Great job you will love and totally enjoy playing NieR Automata/Replicant

I've been wanting a remaster, too. Though, I'm a tad worried that a remaster of it might strip it of its fever dream qualities. If there's a remaster, it must have the same soundtrack, at the very least. But cosmic horror like this is perfectly captured on the PS2.

@@quanfantastic4831 honestly with how dated the game is it NEEDS a full on remake not a remaster. The smoother dragon controls of drakengard 3 and the updated visuals of the same thing

the dragon felt heavy and controled just like how riding a big heavy dragon should feel
also remakes suck ass and are usually worse than the original 9/10 times
a remaster that gives you camera controls and lets you control caim better would be better so the game can retain its feel

.... Did you actually play drakengard 3? Zero didn't hate humanity... She wanted to stop the flower (thereby saving humanity) and to die...
Dude has never played DoD3. Zero wanted to destroy the flower which created the other Intoners. One cloned herself and created Brother One who made the Cult of Watchers which was the cause of this ending and the events of NieR.
The way this leads into Nier was so cobbled together, lol it makes no sense at all, i don't even get why they need to connect the two, just make Nier it's own thing.
Same thing between Nier and Automata, just makes no sense, they don't need to be connected

Basically, you know how colonist brought smallpox and other new things to the "new world"? Yeah basically, even thought the queen dies, her ashes spread and magic smallpox happens. It's a bit more complicated then that but that's basically the long and short of it.
