The Washington Post has published a new report which claims that the alleged assassination plot against Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun was sanctioned by the then-chief of India's spy agency RAW. The report has also named a RAW officer - Vikram Yadav - as the man who handled the operation. India has rejected this western report as "unwarranted and unsubstantiated". Though US officials began investigating India in November 2023, the Washington Post article has been published in April 2024, in the middle of India's election season. What will be the impact of this report? How has the US government reacted? Palki Sharma tells you.

Instead of moaning about how the western press trashes India, why doesn't Indian media publicize the salient facts about life in the US. Daily gun violence, school shootings, mass shootings. Just yesterday four policemen were shot dead in a pitched gun battle that lasted three hours. The other day a black man was shot 13 times by cops at a traffic stop. This could be a weekly feature -- sort of a "This week in the US" with an intro montage of mass shooting scenes and music/background gun shots.
