  • Welcome to our DIY Truck Camper life.
We are retired non-30 somethings who enjoy living part of the year in our Flatbed Truck Camper that, Steve designed and built. It's our adventure rig, budget earthroamer and tiny house on wheels.
Welcome to our vlog. This is the longest stretch we've been home at the shop since we started traveling and it is dangerously close to be too comfortable with fixed routines, but the need to go explore new areas, visit family is too strong, so we start our prepping. We are both tired of the working part of our life, it is definitely time to move out and get exploring again.
While the rig is still getting working, do we make it out as planned or not?
Hope to see you out on the road, exploring in your own way and rig. Join our meandering travels over the next few weeks!

Thank you Derek. Those few days of travel were definitely wonky but everything worked out plus we were happy we could test the hydronic heating setup further to get it shaken out. Hope u two are well.

We've use that same BLM "Beaver Dam" area for overnight rest stop, usually head back a couple of miles, lots of good spots.

Yes - we also usually head back a couple of miles also. This trip arriving in the dark and tired, we opted for the front area. We knew we'd need to unhitch to park the rig which just made it more tiring to think about at the time :) Thanks for watching.

Considering all of the work with that heater and the amount of fittings and soldered joints, your trip seemed to go well. Great update.

It did go well. I'd say we were just working through the fine tuning phase!

Things have gone pretty well. Just a couple days ago I did add a sixth motorized ball valve to the cabin heat return circuit. I found that about 2 quarts of coolant had moved from the cabin to the engine coolant bottle. I think the heat/cool cycle of the engine creates a suction when allowed to cool completely and ANY path that allows that suction through causes the migration. Should be the last fix. Thanks for following and commenting.
