    Cool under lights

Thanks. We're out in the Arizona desert right now (at a truck camper rally} and at this very minute, they are on. Some guys seem to want to be lit like a strip club. We prefer to be invisible...

Have you considered using red under truck lights, red is better for preserving your night vision, better for star gazing, less light pollution. I do have to say those blue lights do look good. Astronomers use red for reading instruments at night.

I'm former military so am used to the thought that red was best but it's really not. The military has been changing on this for years too. Lots of mythology on this. This is a good read.

I also wanted blue because it doesn't transmit as far as red. I want to see tripping hazards around the vehicle but don't want to be seen at a distance. Shorter wavelengths (blue) tend to be absorbed more readily than longer wavelength (red).

Not really wrong but the red standard was set a long time ago when red light was far easier to produce than blue. Since the dawn of electric light, Incandescent bulbs were the standard and produced a lot of long wavelengths and little of the shorter.....these findings have been out for quite a while but 'social momentum' is difficult to overcome when the gain isn't huge.
