Great job on the video, I just wanted to correct one thing about the 303 that was stated here. You are able to exchange and move sounds from pad to pad and bank to bank on the 303. Just hold down DEL and press REC, the pads with samples on them should light up and from there it works just like a 404sx. You can move sounds where ever you would like. One 303 I previously owned would not let me move sounds from banks A & B, and I had to upgrade the firmware of the device via smart media card to get it working properly. That's the only one I've ever come across though, it must have been an early model of the unit.
Cookin Soul uploaded a video using the 303 only for Dilla day. Made a beat of an O’Jays track and it was exactly like something you wouldn’t heard on Donuts. Really highlighted the awesome power and simplicity of the 303.

yo man I almost brought a 303 way back when but didn’t go through with it now I’m regretting that I did that😔 cuz that true lofi sound is brought to life with that sampler and that true dirty grittiness can’t be matched when it comes to the 303. I’m not knocking the 404sx tho cuz it has some hidden gems on it as well
100% man, they just did a much better job on the fx with the 303. I dont understand why the best ideas from each of these samplers didn't get included in the newer models. A decent time stretch would be awesome on either of these devices!

Just got a MC-101 and let me say if Roland continues with these updates it might be the most slept on box out here . I would say combine it with a 303 or the other SP boxes if you want but you really don't need any of the SP boxes to be honest with how powerful the MC-101 is . Just a random comment ...but I suggest you try one out I think you would love it !
Great comparison vid. Mention on the 303 sounding warmer than the 404, wonder if that has to do with the 404 no doubt being surface mount bits and the 303 being conventional (for old gear) bigger bits constructed of different rare metals.

The mythology of SMD vs through-hole has got to die. It is a baseless over-simplification. It lives because we humans like simple understandings of our world. There are thousands of things going on within the boxes. Chalking anything in life to being mono-causal doesn’t get us where we need to go.
Which one is the favorite? Stuck between a 303 and SX to pair with my MPC 1000. Both of them look nice. Have a KORG Kp3 for touch effects and I would like to pair a SP with my MPC or TR8/Synths.

Damn! That resample while recording external is exactly what I'd love for recording scratches, stick an effect on the turntable and have the beat as is. How long until the next Sp404 if there will be one?
Given the 404A came out in like 2018 and Roland hasn’t announced anything or even teased anything (and NAMM just happened) I think it’ll be a couple years until we even get a teaser that somethings in the works
Same, they have fully dined out on the 404 casing now, the last three models have all looked similar but have just had upgrades. I really hope they do a completely new device and not just another version of the 404

Hey man, wondering if I could get your opinion. I am looking at trading my microkorg and korg volca sample for a sp404a in new condition. I paid about $400 total for the gear, still not sure if it is a good call to switch. Anyways, I am sure you are a bit biased, and my friend says sell my gear and buy elektron...but I would appreciate your opinion. These videos are helpful to get a look at the workflow.
Not easy to say really man not sure what you are trying to achieve in the long run? I obviously enjoy using the SP devices but thats because I'm a fan of lofi and have always enjoyed sampling from records. The MFX are the main reason an SP is such a good device
