Great catch Tom … and good video …I had a few quality roach from the Farnham Angling Stretch of the Thames last week but catching on corn or Tares over hemp … and on the stick float rather than pole … really enjoyable session
Great informative series of videos Tom, drone footage was great ! I fish the river Soar in Leicestershire, and use hemp a lot, think I've been over cooking it for years !!!!
It’s a fine line, and the hemp itself is so variable from batch to batch. I riddled a sack a few years ago, and kept the big stuff. That was really good for the hook, but the place I got it doesn’t sell it anymore 🙄
Good video Tom. Shame about the technicals. I have been finding they stay in the bottom 4ft of the 12ft swim I often fish on the Thames at Windsor. I only us tare#on the hook and regularly catch 3lb an hour. Will try hair rigging hemp and see if that improves things....

The underwater footage kinda shows you why you need an on the drop light rig for roach with the last dropper 12 in away. As usual hemp is best fished a few inches off the deck, similar to punch. Never had a similar session on hemp, everyday is different.
That was an enjoyable watch and some great angling to end up with a bag like that . Tight lines and looking forward to the next video .
