    I think, this video is the best from all videos about roach fishing on the waggler. Be lucky, Tom. And thank you!

    ''winds gotten up its blown leaves in and its erm pain in the arse to fish'' made me laugh because its so true! great little session for roach always fun watching the float go under tight lines and wet knees :)

    Nice vid Tom. I cut my teeth on the Trent in the 70`s 80`s no one fish`s it much .there all bagging up in carp puddles. there`s something majestic moving water trotting down stream.

    nice vid... quiet lil stretch and a few roach is a great day out... impressive size of roach too... i love getting them like that on the long whip.. proper fishing that, not stretch elastic on an emotionless mud puddle

    Are you barbless now Tom. I find more advantage than negative, don't lose fish, don't hook myself of jumper, and fish like it too? Great video again mate.

    Superb roach Tom! I might have a go at that these days. Roach are entering backwaters of the Moselle river right now (along with gobies I am sure).

    Tom, Getting back into fishing in my retirement and your vids are by a long stretch the most interesting and informative on youtube (not just because I fish in your area and I love trying to spot the location)! The following is not a complaint because I love the vids and I don't expect you to give away all your secrets/locations but it would be good to know e.g. how you prepared the swim for this session (if you did), what you look for in a roach swim etc. I have no interest in anything other than silvers and note you are very informative on preparing the swim for carp! You are clearly a very experienced angler and it would be good to give us "returners" a leg up if you can.

      Alan Richards Very well put, Alan. I appreciate it very much. I guess I'm always keen to get a few in the bag before the camera rolls and miss the preliminaries! I'll make a special effort to explain in a bit more detail next time. Stay tuned!

    • @AlanRichards
      @AlanRichards 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Tom. A thought. To save fishing time maybe you could do a piece to camera "post script" (which you are pretty good at btw) laying out how you prepared for the day and things you took into consideration? You are able to do that whilst carping because you don't have to hold the rod/watch the float!

    • @tomwinterfishing9065
      @tomwinterfishing9065  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's right, there's lots of downtime when fishing for bigger fish. I could do a post-script, definitely worth considering, or else just be a bit more mindful of what I'm saying! I do tend to forget that there are people of varying experience who watch, and things I might tend to take for granted may well be very helpful to others... I've just bought a new camera and tripod too, with a remote, so that might make a difference too. We'll see...

      I make these videos for my own enjoyment, part of which is interacting with people who watch, so I'm very grateful to receive feedback such as yours. So, thank you Alan.

    Great video Tom, really enjoyed it mate. Some massive roach, amazing average size, think the smallest one you had would smash my pb roach! Stretch Looks lovely, really carpy. Thames backwater carping vid soon??? haha

    • @tomwinterfishing9065
      @tomwinterfishing9065  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funny you should say that, I've been having a crack for a carp from there after work some evenings. I've put a lot of bait in, but not had a bite yet! I'll stick at it. I know it produces a few carp early in the season, as they go in there to spawn...

    Really enjoy the thames vids i love fishing the river its a great river you need to fish donkey island at walton on thames big big barbel and its free to night fish mate.

    • @saulgoodman9550
      @saulgoodman9550 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      donkey island is that where that poor night fisherman was killed yeh I have heard of big barbell and carp and bream coming out of there its right on sunbury weir isn't it mate?

    • @tomwinterfishing9065
      @tomwinterfishing9065  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jaguarxtypeandstuff I did have a look down there recently, actually. Looks alright 👍

    • @southwestlondoncarp4313
      @southwestlondoncarp4313 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeh its a wicked spot there are 3 swims all produce monster fish better at dusk n dawn bro with large horse size halibut pellets I don't mind sharing good swims with other anglers I fish the thames from Teddington to Weybridge the weirs are the best places and sunbury is the best I have found also cats in there to. to a decent size you need to walk over a small foot bridge then along a path on the island till you get to the weir its very fast flowing but boy theres some bigguns in there.

    • @tomwinterfishing9065
      @tomwinterfishing9065  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jaguarxtypeandstuff aha, I know sunbury weir: I fished it a couple of times when I had a lock n weir permit. Tough walk in the days before I had a barrow!

    • @southwestlondoncarp4313
      @southwestlondoncarp4313 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tom Winter Fishing im not totally sure but i think you dont need a weir liscence to fish from donkey island the lock keeper always waves at me lol and seems ok i have fished it alot this season with no problems i think after there was a murder there people seem to stay away theres a few polish guys that fish it regular there all nice fellas but they do seem to light fires which can be annoying but the barbel are plentiful there thats for sure had a few nice ones out.

    Will be starting to fish again very soon after over forty years. Vids like these really wet my appetite, can’t wait to start again on the Trent.
    Just wondering though, why opt for the waggler? Conditions look perfect for the stick.

    • @tomwinterfishing9065
      @tomwinterfishing9065  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad to hear you're getting back into it! I had to fish within a couple of feet of the far cover to get bites that day. Had there been a bit of colour and a tad more flow, the stick would have been nice. I was hoping they'd still be there in the winter, but sadly, they weren't!

    Nice fishing Tom. With all those bait fish do you ever get old Esox turn up?

    • @tomwinterfishing9065

      Brian Timson no, very rarely actually, which is surprising!

      They're not " bait fish " they are pristine roach! Using them for bait is just WRONG! ( I'll get off my soapbox now ).

    Hello Tom very nice fishing section, I'm originally from Brazil and we are mad about fishing, been in the UK for over 15 year and believe you me I've never tried to fish over here for the simple reason that I don't know a good spot to fish. l leave in North West London and my best option in my opinion will be the Thames . I would love to learn more about the way you English fish so I can get back to my favourite hobby.If possible I would like to give my number so maybe we can chat and meet up for a section so you could explain to me about tackle and good fishing spots. Let me know if that is alright! Thanks and that was a like from me!
