BIG Flathead Catfish Caught While Kayak Fishing

- On this trip, I hooked into a big flathead catfish while anchor fishing in a creek mouth. It was an awesome fight from start to finish. Action the rest of the day was sporadic but the flathead made my trip. It was another fun day of kayak catfishing on the Tennessee River.

Amen brother, makes me sick seeing people keep those big flatheads, then in a few seasons they wonder why thefishing isn't any good any more and no more big flatheads. Trotlines and limblines are the absolute worst, IMO. Phenomenal catch, Justin. Hope to see you catch one that you really struggle getting lifted out of the water one of these days. 🤙
You wasted alot of meat on the bigger catfish cutting out the red meat anyway. It's a real waste in my opinion and would rather catch him again down the road.
Big flatheads taste good while blues, and channels are nasty after 4 lbs or so. I believe in catch and release but occasionally I like to clean some and eat them.

Justin no kidding man you get it done. There are 4 of you Tennessee boys I watch on a regular basis because each of you are great teachers. But, I will say this. Of the 4 you probably pull in more true dinosaurs on a regular basis. Pound for pound you seem to find the OMG fish. Good stuff.

Hey Justin I just wanted to make sure you're buying the right cards. I know that sounds funny but it really does make a difference. Get the ones that have a number one with a circle around it in the top corner and it says high definition on them. They're a little more expensive but that will cut down on your cards getting corrupted by a long shot.

Came to watch these videos to see if I needed outriggers for catching flatheads. I own an Ascend 128t kayak and apparently after watching these videos I'm not gonna need outriggers at all. Nice fish!

@@KayakCatfish I had the GoPro 3+. It was either water proof but you couldn't get audio into it or it had decent sound but don't get it wet. Have the Hero 5 now. Always water proof with decent sound. But I am just now checking it out. tight lines

Okay. I am at Harrison bay state park and just watched this with my nephew, Justin... I mean... my nephew’s name is Justin. He skunked me at fishing. Imagine that. He’s a Justin. Lol. I did catch two nice bass, but he still beat me. That was a really nice flathead we saw you pull in. He’s got me watching milliken’s fishing.

Thanks! I liked a snell knot when I was using Gamakatsu hooks but I mostly just use a Clinch knot with the team catfish hooks that I use now.

Hey buddy i have a kayak myself and id like to know what you used to keep yourself straight. I have an anchor but i often spin alot
If I am casting my lines out, I use a drift sock off the front of the kayak so I don’t get spun. When suspend fishing like in this video, I don’t bother with the drift sock since getting spun won’t affect my other lines.
