Unfortunately, a work issue came up right at 3:30 going home time and the start of the stream that took me an hour to take care of then the drive home, but I'm very grateful for job. That's cool!! I caught a channel cat on a bare hook one time and a 25lb flattie ate him. No bait on my line because I was not feeling good then the neighbor asked what I caught this morning. He said when they drove by my line in their boat they could see it was going crazy. The flattie was "hooked" by the channel cats fins lol

Hey @kayakcatfish although we love our Crappie my dad and I are new to the catfishing game and have no problem using for bait if it gives us the thrill of a big cat. From Tennessee, looked up regs, but they are confusing... Can you help us understand for Tennessee?
Sport fish can be used as bait as long as they are caught on rod and reel and meet minimum size requirements. Game wardens have to be able to determine length and species though. The regulations are vague on whether or not sport fish can be used as cut bait because it doesn’t elaborate on how game wardens verify length. Does it have to be their measurement device or will a pic with the fish on a measuring board along with date/time/gps stamp be sufficient? Who knows. If you are worried about getting a ticket, I would suggest using them live or as whole dead baits and you won’t have any issues.
WHAT A BEAST this flathead ! probably the biggest you ever caught . Such extreme catches you should try to measure Justin ! Probably the smaller catfish avoid the verry big ones ??? To prevent they get eaten by them .....
I haven’t really noticed a difference with the bait size affecting catches on the fly. The bites on the flies are usually sporadic although I did have one trip last year where all but one fish was caught on the fly.

I’m still battling the end of the flu …. Funny story after hearing about your dog poo poo mess. So my fever was up to 102.3…. And I had to feed my cats…. They were both sitting on the bed which means they were hungry. Well I fed them can food which I doing usually do…. About three hours later I got to pee, I stepped in cat puke….. to make things WORSE, after I cleaned it up and got back into bed. To my surprise, there was puke on my bed …. I watch a ton of your videos man. I’m from Ohio and my dad and I come down once a year. We will be down this year in October any tips on where to catch some nice cats that time of year. We will be close to watts bar and cottenport.
The bite is usually pretty good here in October. Anchoring in any of the major creek mouths feeding into the main river channel should put you on some fish.
Man i wish texas would relax about their rules pertaining to what i can use as bait. I cant even use the scraps of game fish I've filleted as bait. And you're out there using an entire 14in crappie as live bait.
