As a casual 2k player, I have never given any thought to the 2k league. And I can care less about watching/viewing 2k league games. Not gonna waste my time watching people play 2k when I rather just play with my gang.

I’ve never watched the 2k league because it’s all generic. Everyone has to do the same thing to win. If I don’t like playing with a pg that just wants to ISO in five out or the big setting screens all game while the 3 other players are in the corner, why would I watch that.

The problem with the 2K league is that they’re no serious personalities in the 2k community in the league; that’s why JoeKnows is bringing attention to the comp scene. Because he’s a personality ppl wanna see. They need more ppl like him in the league to bring viewers to it. Think of the Call of duty league with Scump, Zoomaa, or Shotzzy etc. and plus you have to create content with the 2k league! Hence joeknows
I understand that they lost their job, but pretending that companies warn you before they fire you paints a false narrative. They took a temp job and got let go. That's the story.

The 2k league is a failure because people like me, who have been playing 2k for the last decade, have no clue what the 2k league is or how it works. The marketing team for the 2k league failed, majorly.

Due to greed….. 2K rushed into gaming, thinking it would be like street fighter while connected to the NBA. I assumed they would think or brainstorm the idea of having a league more thoroughly. Some of the most simplest ideas could’ve changed some of the perspective of what people were watching like even camera should’ve been broadcast for everyone watching games. maybe, since each team had a coach or manager each team should have been literally forced to play real basketball schemes according to their personnel and strengths so that each team look different. There’s 1 million different things. I personally see that they could’ve done different to bring a little bit more to the viewership.
Bear the beast is a personality. They need several more players in the league like him. They would’ve seen a lot more success as you build up these images to be honest it’s something the NBA is kind of lacking right now also.

If they had Players in the league and coaches pushing the narratives that Back Kobra and Chris Jones push not only what people be enjoying the game more they would start to understand why there are hundreds of animations in the game, and believe it or not it would affect the city and how people play a little bit. People literally teaching post moves like true Hall of Fame and Kevin Cruise would make a huge difference if those type of people were in the league and visually seen.

Players shouldn't be suprised by the actions of 2K. Less money spend to players and more towards marketing and pushing the new game. Instead they will invest that money into amplifying current content creators who align with their agenda by encouraging ppl to spend more money. It will ultimately be the downfall of 2k but not as quickly as ppl assume.
Think about it why pay players a salary when I can cut a 1time check to celebrities and content creators for endorsing or streaming tourneys gameplay and promotion. It's business 101 you make your projections of incoming revenue, then cut the funding of the area the presents the biggest risk.. sadly not as many ppl watch 2k league gameplay.
What should've been done is the Ceo Should've made it a requirement for players to in some way reach the casual community either thru broadcasting via ig TH-cam etc then if it don't bear fruit cut it.

I've been apart of a company closing layoff and a normal layoff, both came without warning lol Thats just normal sadly. I hope they all got some severance!!!
I think 2k is betting on the elite 2k players to make their own leagues which honestly gets more viewership anyways. I hope they at least sponsor some of these leagues to help these players make a sustainable income
2k also needs to revamp the starting 5 mode and and make it for pro am, would be nice to have my own Pro am team with 4 A.I vs another player and his 4 A.I’s the more games you win the more XP you get to upgrade your A.I teammates attributes, so you can basically coach your own team and play with your myplayer as well and it’s vs other players, my team is too much of a cash grab, this mode would be fun.
So you want 2k to get rid of there #1 money maker and replace it with something that will make them less money and majority of people will still not play ……..? Ritteeeeeee..

Mostly every pro has a twitch channel or TH-cam BUT they chose NOT to interact with the community and only play with a certain group of people and talk crap about the rest of community who only play Rec Etc…
The pros put themselves in a closed box with their ego for years not creating a fan base to support them.
Why you think Bear 🐻 and dimes survive. They built a loyal fan base from interacting with fans from twitch and TH-cam

Unlike other pro gaming scenes where players can showcase why they’re the best, 2k pros aren’t able to. Why would anyone want to watch the top players in the world play the same way as them, 2-3 zone and a 5 out offense.
Tbh the only reason why I never paid attention to watching the 2K league is because everyone and every single team just ran a 5 out offense once the offense and defense settled into the half court. Plus the majority of the 2k league players just either take layups/dunks & 3’s. That shit is so boring to watch. I could be wrong and maybe there are teams/players that don’t play that way but I know the creativity isn’t there for most players/teams and I refuse to watch that for however long those games are
I’m thinking this new version of the 2k league is gonna look like the Crew League where the celebrities have teams and come and play. Actual competition and it being an “E-Sport” is a wrap.

Looks like they're gonna maybe have one or two 2k players and the rest will be NBA players and celebs. What does that mean? Well, live televised events where they can sell advertising and maybe build a strong foundation for a gambling platform. I would expect maybe FanDuel or some other similar entity to get involved if they can prove the concept of getting a ton of people to watch their favorite NBA stars and celebs go head to head.

I’ve always been a perfectionist.. I love to see and watch people be the best at things. I liked watching the 2k league those guys are almost perfect every game. Sure there’s some players that will never get the publicity or notoriety. But I mean they are pros it was cool watching them I learned a lot and I even wanted to become one at one point.
Let’s be honest, neither you or anyone you know or anyone in the comments watched a single game of 2k league, I don’t even know where I would go to watch, this thing was doomed from the start, hope the fellas got it in while they could, and hopefully some of them were smart enough to have a plan B.
I wonder if they got a severance package. I find it odd how naive people are when it comes to big business. If professional teams fire, trade players when they want what makes you think 2k league is any different? It’s common when a new ceo takes over that they bring in the people that fit their vision. They answer to a board and the NBA. If they aren’t making money in the way they are expected to, things like this happen. It stinks for everyone affected but this is business. I hope the players learn from this and don’t take anything for granted. If you aren’t a higher up, you’re replaceable.

I will never knock on anyone's hustle, but playing video games for a living will never, at least for me, be considered hard work. It's more of a privilege to play these games on a daily basis that takes hours on countless hours to create. We honestly have no idea how good we have it. Remember, Pong was a thing and look where we are today. Greed is just on the floor front of these developers and I get it but there needs to be balance and that's what 2K has been lacking for many, many years.

Hate to say it but 2K is at fault. All the successful leagues that are built around video games that are dynamic and have gameplay that showcase different play styles and strategies with engaging matchups. 2K has a meta that is so hard to get away from that players are pigeonholed into specific play styles that doesn’t offer entertainment value. All the league teams play the same style and as a viewer, seen one game then you seen it all. Make a game that rewards different styles of play and people will enjoy watching it at the highest level.

this is so 2k.....2k did them dirty. instead of marketing these dedicated 2k league players into actual content creators and celebrities in their own right, then they would be getting what they want. 2k could have handled it differently. just create an all content creator league and all celebrity league and have the league champions face each other. winner gets the 2k league champion. why sacrifice the quality of competition of the 2k league (players that actually put in the grind) for nba players and celebrities (who probably don't put in that same grind)?

Everytime they host the 2k league events, they always had 1) bad latency 2) terrible matchmaking, meaning no balance in build types or a MMR of anysort to pair you with similar skilled players 3) event went to people who exploit the system like teaming and/or point hoarding with lobs against dysfunctional teams.
If they actually made it possible for people to get into it without paying private affiliate leagues to join, maybe people would watch and want to be apart of it more. I cared about joining and watched for a few years when i kept hearing that you can join but every year the event failed me. I even posted about it on twitter/X and nobody from 2k gave af about it so fk them , aint nobody gonna watch ur exploited glitched basketball game . Sports and top games that people watch and are popular have INTEGRITY. Nothing honest about 2k sadly , just using us in anyway shape or form to make money. If they cared about the esport of simulation basketball then take it serious, listen and fix broken things. ( certain animations should be banned if overpowered , build types, gamebreaking glitches like steezo type dribbles if it wasnt ever intended to be in-game etc....) like you need true ball heads to help make this a success not money scavaging rats who think about money first then the game.

Man I’m not even going to hold yall. To be honest 2k job is to make the most money for everyone. So one of the issues I’ll keep it a buck, 2k league and CC made regular people lives hell on 2k. And because of it I’m sure they lost tons of money even though they are making good Money. Some of the changes made to 2k was made because of the i fluency of those players. And listening to those players has people not even playing the game past November. The worst thing was the whole making the game harder for those who can’t play. WHY WOULD YOU DO A SKILL GAP. Should have left the game Alone. Remember we’re not talking about skill gap we’re talking about money. They make more reaching out to more people. They lost a lot of their casuals listening to league and CC.

Saw some league games and they were boring and honestly couldn’t be the best in the game. Didn’t make enough to cover salaries for each, bad view counts and engagement, the game itself is boring to play much less watch

All I know is 2K has literally taken all the fun outta the game. The inconsistency is at an all time high, there's always so much drama with the game, they don't give out the proper reward, I've been cheated out vc and boosts on numerous occasions as well. It's to the point that I won't even spend money on it anymore smdh
if 2k listens to the community and makes the changes that we all want for the base game, it would save the league. if the game is🗑 like the past 3 years all over again, it won't matter if kevin durant or any celebs get involved with the league because nobody's playing it in the first place, lol.
