Your video has just perfectly explained where I was going wrong. This car is kicking my ass on Oulton Park at the moment for all the reasons you highlighted but I have been adjusting things in the wrong direction because I didn’t totally understand what I was doing. Thanks a lot!
Thank you! This helped me begin to understand what some of the setup stuff does. It helped me go from a 1:45 to 1:39 at Laguna Seca driving the Porsche 718 GT4. I still have a little understeer to dial out but the car feels more neutral now.
Another great vid Stefan, Your clear explanations along with the graphics make it so much easier to understand WHY something happens which then helps us to be able to teach ourselves in-game as we experiment or even correct certain handling issues as they arise during a race, like when tyre wear starts affecting the handling of the car! (maybe a future video if u haven't already done one) Especially as I love Endurance racing. Enjoying going through your previous posts ;)
Thanks for creating this video but if this video is for beginners, I'm in trouble. I drive Watkins Glen daily and some days I feel like I ran over an oil slick and other days, not so bad. I haven't a clue why one day I have ok grip and other days my tires are sliding on an oil slick. Sometimes I slide, while other racers pass me with incredible grip and I'm helpless to do anything about it. Unfortunately there are no other sim racers nearby so we can share our experiences (aka he tells me what I am doing wrong).
8:25 Why do we have to change wheel rate as well? Also the rule of the thumb, you said that keep an eye on O M I temperatures, I see somewhere that front can be up to +/-9°C and on the rear +/-5°C. Is this correct or it's better to try hold it at max. 2°C on both ends of the car??
Hi Rok, we tried this to compensate more of all the bumps on the track and make the car easier to handle around the whole layout. OMI should not exceed a max of 10°C from Inside to Outside, best would be to stay within 6° which means 2 from I to M to O - what you see is all the temps we had during testing, but that is why I specifically say it again in the video ^^ Honestly, since this video was released I learned a bit more and tested more things... check out my new tyre video for updated info :)
I must be blind, I don't see the link to your cars setup in the description. I would really like to try this setup out. Could you please provide the link do download it? Great tutorial. I really enjoy your content.
@@Boonatix I'm sorry. My thought was really about what I see only, not about tests 🙏🏻. I can't keep the Mercedes on the rails for long regardless 😂😂😂. Besides, I'm a porsche fan. My problem generally is losing the rear when accelerating after a corner or entering the corner without control after breaking (never both at once and yes, I release the pedal gently). I use the Porsche 911 2018 (not the 911 II). Any pointers or suggestions? In the McLaren 720S my problem is lack of breaking, having to break a lot earlier in corners and the same accelerating problem of porsche. Stiffening the antiroll bar helped a little though. Any tips about any of them? I really need som help 🙏🏻😂😂
Hey Thiago, losing the rear when accelerating can have different reasons. Try decreasing the rear anti roll bar, or make the rear suspension a bit softer! When you lose the rear while breaking it can help to put the brake balance a bit to the rear, or make the front suspension stiffer.. you have to picture a that the rolling mass of the car is moving a lot to the front while braking, so you need to compensate that! The McLaren 720S unfortunately is not as good on brakes as other cars (for example Mercedes or Porsche) but you can also play with the Brake Balance here, to see how it changes the behaviour.
@@Boonatix About the McLaren that's what I've done exactly 😂😂. Everytime I started a race I set the brake bias about 3% more to the front, so I can stop closer to the corner, but I sure hoped that other solutions existed, because that decrease control of the car entering as well. About losing the rear accelerating that's awesome to hear, because I did the exact oposite 😂😂😂. I thought the roll was so big when accelerating that the grip didn't hold, so I stiffed the antiroll to hold the cars weight. I will try out those adjustments for sure, man. Thank you so much for all your help, and I believe that I say this in name of everyone else here 🙏🏻
Honestly the best beginner guide I’ve seen so far. Very straight forward and easy to follow.
Thank you for the tutorial, I was struggling with Laguna seca and the AMG, it helps a lot
I watch it later. Jst left u a thumbs up for the algorythem

Hiya, can you do a vid on brake setups. I really struggle with this aspect of the game.
ist das video noch aktuell oder gibt es mittlerweile ein update? wenn ja würd ich mich über einen link freuen..VG
Thanks 👍🏎️💨

Oh thanks for letting me know, after updating some descriptions seems I have overwritten it... link is added back in for the setup :)
@@Boonatix Great thank you so much.
Even after the adjustments it looks by the lap that the car still a lot understeer. Is thath right?
Hm, it might look like it but it def did not feel like it, car was much more direct and agile :) Did you give the setup a try yourself?

Let me know how it works out, happy to help :)
I thought increasing bump means increasing bumping speed
in deutsch ??? war ned verkehrt :-P
