  • Before Disney had their 20 first gay characters in film and tv, they made actual history back in the '90s. But thanks to them, you probably never realized it.

Squirreled : "Back in 1997 the had their first openly gay character and they are desperately trying to get people to forget about it"
Me : "Now why would they want to do that?!?!?!"
    Me : "OHHHH"

I don't get it, is it because it's her specifically? Why?

The Ellen daytime show did not end well, but as a point in LGBT+ history, it is insane for Disney to try and bury it. As for Disney+ every market has its own contracts and deals done in the past, however its so long ago now, its hard to think that any TV channel or streamer who isnt Disney or a LBGT+ streamer, has a proper claim on the show, preventing it from being on Disney+.

Corps rather bury the "poorly aged" instead of doing something cool like.... actively acknowledging issues such as workers abuse, using the movie revenue to donate to LGBT+ orgs, etc. but I forgot who we're talking about here.

@@hiddenleafdrip3869whatever happened on Ellens talk show, the sitcom has its place in history. It is crazy to ignore that.
This kind of thing just kills and then drives a stake into the idea of "Disney is Woke".
I am so fed up with right wing people, expecting me as a left wing (bi) person to support a global company, no that is not who I am they are not "woke", they are engaged in "Pride Washing", and you just to thick to see past that.
The only people who buy into "Pride Washing" is right wing people, and all they do is hate it.

The “It’s fiction it never happened” meme could be used to mock and take the piss out of Disney’s attempts to cancel Ellen’s show for her coming out.

I don't understand why this video is getting nasty comments. I thought that this was really interesting and informative. I understand that Ellen is enough of a reason to cancel things on her own. However, that clearly isn't the point of this video, it's calling attention to Disney's two-faced nature, they always seem to get away with. i.e. taking advantage of losing a discrimination lawsuit forcing Disney to allow gay couples to dance in their entertainment property. Using the situation publicly for the progressive PR and then secretly only allowing that one singular gay couple to dance there via a legal loophole. People in the comments defending Disney and villainizing only Ellen, I encourage you to take the time to look at Disney as a whole. Great Video!
