Bless you, because this is the first review for this book that I’ve watched that has given me a clue as to what the storyline actually is. I got really tired of hearing “it’s really hard to describe.” Articulate and entertaining as always! Thank you 🌈📚

I'm not gonna lie. I literally love Strange The Dreamer so much that every time it's mentioned I get all teary eyed because I just love it so much 😭😭😭😭😭💞💞💞

Oh my goodness I have been waiting for you to read this! I love this book, it’s so good and Lazlo is actually so precious. Must be protected.

Shocking for me, but I forgave the instalove. Maybe it’s because it’s a slower read, so it took a little longer to get there than most books. I also more viewed it as strong infatuation, but then after I finished, I realized how lovey it was.

I also hate insta love but did not see it as that. I think for me it was knowing how emotional some lucid dreams can be. There's an intimacy there that can be really hard to put into words. At times it has gone beyond anything I've experienced in my waking life.

I get that the pacing is slow. It took me about 75-100 pages to really get into it. And I know in my head that there is insta-love, which is something I usually don’t like. But when I read her books, my heart tells my head to shut up and just enjoy it. I can’t help myself.

My experience was the opposite. I loved Strange the Dreamer (and Muse of Nightmares as much if not more) but I struggled a lot with Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

Just took a quick scan of the sample on Amazon. Definitely some beautiful imagery. I'll read the whole sample to see if this is my thang, though. Thanx, Sam :^)

I finished this book about a week ago, and my thoughts are rather similar to yours. I'm completely in love with Lazlo! Like, FINALLY there is a strong male hero virtually devoid of machismo, controlling issues, aggressive competitive urges etc. Omigod, I LOVE him! He totally carried the series for me until I bonded a bit with the other characters.
I was pretty ambivalent/ neutral about the ending... can't go into anything without going spoilery so I'm gonna hop onto the gush video so we can all gush and rant together^_^

I loved all of her books including strange the dreamer. I noticed the similar elements in her writing, she talks a lot about war I am still intrigued. I couldnt care that much about lazo, I just love the universe lol.

Been waiting for you to review this for a while. Everyone has praised this book and never mentioned any flaws at all. I hope I love it though. It sounds magical. (Currently reading The Way of Kings and liking it so far).

Can you let me know the ISBN of this book, at least the last digits, because in most bookstores I've checked the ISBN of the book doen't match the edition displayed, and I really want this beautiful cover...

I've been meaning to read Strange the Dreamer, I have an ebook copy, and I absolutely loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I think I'm like you in that insta-love really isn't my thing but I forgave it in Daughter of Smoke and Bone... I love Laini's writing and I hope I like it enough to get me through the slow beginning. Thanks for the review, Sam. Also--what a gorgeous cover! What edition is that?

I didn't care for it. 2/5. Yeah I agree it was mildly interesting in the beginning, but then it seemed like not much was happening until the almost shock ending. I would read multiple chapters in a row and nothing would stick with me. Just an exercise in patience over the 6 hour read =P

I loved this book. But Im sorry the plot twist at the end kinda ruined the point/message of the book. Also it's kinda infuriating but its bc I cared about the characters so much.

Sometimes you see a review and wonder if that person read the same book. Nope. You and I for sure read the same book. Agree on all points.

Is it advisable to read The Daughter of Smoke of Bone series first?

    • @jeddstevie8252

Linda De Pasquale While Daughter of Smoke and Bone is a great trilogy which I highly recommend I'd say you can just dive into Strange The Dreamer without having read DOSAB.

your nails makes me so happy lol. Wanted to ask: do you need to read/does it enhance your reading experience if you read the DOSAB trilogy first?

    • @ThoughtsOnTomes
      @ThoughtsOnTomes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

nope! they aren't connected and even the little mention isn't a mention that would make you want/need to read the other series if that makes sense.
