- With the release of Hallownest Vocalized, I want to get back to actually uploading TH-cam videos. Of course, it’s gotta be with a bang. I have a great appreciation for the prequel comic and its pre-existing dubs by Hollow Knight fans, which inspired me to create my own! A dub holds a great potential I've always wanted to fully realize, so I hope my vision meets that expectation. I experimented a lot making this dub (especially in the fight scenes), and tried to put an emphasis on using well timed music to amplify the beauty the Quirrel Comic invokes. If this video is well received, I’ll consider making dubs for other comics, Hollow Knight or otherwise!

I plan on buying Hollow Knight on steam and doing a second run with this mod because I have Hollow Knight on Xbox Game Pass right now (can't use mods). I'm so curious about it.
(how xbox game pass works is you pay a subscription to play games for free but the games available switch every now and then, with warning of course)

Oh my goodness I thought Boon's eye was their mouth until literally watching this amazing and great dub.
EDIT: woah I love Hornet's accent. Like... It sounds like a mix of what Deepnest and Hallownest's accents would sound like. Hard and fancy but still a little of a hiss. Amazing voicework.

love it! voices are awesome; especially like boon's weird noises, and the sound effects REALLY bring it together
forgot to mention the music, i absolutely adore the gradual buildup to hollow knight's theme right before quirrel awakens, goddamn dude
Excellent use of the piano collections, especially with Sealed Vessel and Hornet!
I love the detail of Quirrel talking slowly and deliberately when he's shouting up the cliff so that he can be understood more easily
Okay, first of all, obviously, great voice acting there, loved it!
But like, even outside of that, that is an amazing vid. I mean, it could have been a simple dub, merely reading the text and be done with it, but daaaayum you went above and beyond!
Like, the editing, with the speech bubbles and text appearing one by one as the characters talk, and the stuff like at 7:24 for example, lovely additions that make the whole product more lively and active.
The use of the music too (love that Piano Collections album, so it's even better)too, help to emphasize the atmosphere.
So ye, that was a pretty damn cool vid!
Honestly even though the seal of binding animation is obviously great, my favorite moment is the zoom-out at 6:09 such a clever little way to improve what the original did
Boon’s characteristics to me would make him a good hugger for some reason. He’s like a big dumb uncle that everyone loves :D
Quirrel's voice is so soft and thoughtful I love him.

And I just realised that it’s in sync with the music as well. Couldn’t have done it any better.

10/10 . I'm quite serious, this is quite literally a perfect comic dub of this comic!! The VAs killed it, absolutely a perfect match for these characters. The sound design and music is great. The editing really brought the static images to life and really captivated me. All of these combined, man, I couldn't tear my eyes away. I was very fully immersed the whole time! Argh, absolutely fantastic job!!!

We can all agree the VA's are outstanding, but hats off to the sound design and composition as well. Perfect use of in-game sound effects!

it's genuinely upsetting that something with so much talent put into it receives such little recognition from the greater community around the game
This is absolutely fantastically done! All the voices were great, especially Quirrel! He sounded exactly like how I imagined while reading his dialogue in-game. The soundtrack was also perfectly utilized. Great work!

This. Was. PHENOMENAL! Hands down, the definitive dub of the comic for me. And man, your experimenting with the music DEFINITELY paid off. The original vibe of the comic was turned up to 11 with your audio mixing of the music AND the sound effects during the quick fight scenes. Absolutely phenomenal.

Thanks, honestly, at first I thought the voice acting was cringy, but after watching it a bit, it grew on me and I actually really liked it!
Deserves way more recognition, somehow made me love quirrel even more. A thousand curses to the fickle Algorithm, and for each a thousand more blessings upon you and the team behind the mod!
man, 10 straight minutes of chills upon chills!! this video should be called. Absolutely brilliant. Everything from the sound design, to the animation, the voice acting, and the exceptional use of the piano collections that switch seamlessly between each other. And the pacing -- it really places you in the Hollow Knight world and makes you ponder and wonder the wastes, it makes you feel like you are in the desolate sands with its roaring winds and daunting cliffs.
The way you take your time establishing the different environments, from the cozy and warm cave of Boon, to the lumafly lit cavern(which was absolutely stunning, by the way. I loved the part where quirrel wakes up and the effect of the darkness gently moving out of the way- and the way it cuts straight to the desolate sands again.)
The fight scenes as well- They are unfortunately so short in the comic, but you stretch them out incredibly well to where it doesn't feel rushed compared to the other scenes. Everything about this dub is just great. Thank you for making this!
The added visuals is just so amazing. You could've just slapped on the voice dub, but you went and put in the extra effort putting this together. Too incredible and is just something im in awe of.
I've also used the vocalized mod! And i love it so much I've basically used it for all of my saves now lol

Really sorry that this vid didnt do too well. I try and see if I can get a few friends to watch it. The dub was really good, unlike most other dubs that use infuriatingly annoying voices. Truly hope this gets more views as time passes.

So, from what I'm thinking this comic should take place around the same time Ghost is called back aswell. We know Quirrel was called to Hallownest by Monomon, and Ghost most likely from THK weakening. So, after Hornet confronts Quirrel, it would be reasonable for her to expect a new Vessel to arrive soon, and Ghost does. Probably why she kept an eye on us Greenpath. She was most likely watching us for a long time before showing herself.
