I used to live on a hill with my late partner and this song always brings back such precious memories. This is a great rendition. I still love the recording by Peggy Lee... heartbreaking.
Stephane Grappelli Live At The Vineyard features The Folks Who Lived On The Hill. He was my favourite... I can only dream to be even half the volinist he was. Pure "viol-singing" is rare today. I am thrilled we have footage of this Jazz Master in action.
I was chatting to Steph' backstage at the 100 club in London years ago.Just the two of us. I asked him how he could play so brilliantly? " It's not me, it's God" he said. I took that to mean that he knew he had a God given talent! RIP Steph' You and Martin were fantastic together. Baz the poet.
Wonderful apparatus, nice string arrangements, Grappelli a true master at his craft, and not an understatement, to have called him the best Jazz Violin player in the world up until his death, and an even classier move, the two guitarist, Martin Tayler & Tal Farlow. "Stellar"
The moust real pleayers are thouse who transmite music inside to listeners no thouse who play dificult or could eith no sens stephane is of the reals beccouse his transmition of his plying rest on peace maestro
....2016, and I'm looking at an 80+ year old, the "times" waaaaay gone by ( look at that shirt), in front of a stodgy orchestra , playing an instrument I've always cringed at. So why am I staring at this screen.... beautifully remembering a lost moment, 50 years ago.??
This is the most wonderful piece of art in jazz music,I really can't believe it is uploaded in such a poor quality. I've been searching for this version everywhere and I just couldn't find it. Anyone please give me more information where to find it, it is such a jewel!
My suggestion is to hook your pc up to a good sound system including a good quality brand AM/FM receiver 7.2 channels. (ie; ONKYO, YAMAHA, PIONEER ) Maybe you already know what 7.2 means, but if not the AMP allows you to hitch up 7 speakers that transmit the sound directly to the listeners. You will need to place one of the speakers in the centre facing you, and the other other six, strategically all around your living room. You will also need a few meters of speaker cord. The .2 allows you to connect a pair of self powered SUBWOOFERS to the neutral connection on the back of the amp. All of the speaker connections are well indicated on the back of the amp. The term AM/FM RECEIVER allows you to tune in on all the radio stations available wherever you live. If you have no experience in this field., you more than likely have friends that can help you. If you dont need the radio stations, just purchase a pure AMPLIFIER instead. The store clerk will help you with all the information that you will need. Hope this is of help to you.
Les deux personnes qui, par ignorance sans doute, ont désapprouvé cette céleste musique et son exécution, ne comprennent tien de rien à la musique. Je vous prie tous/ toutes les deux de m'excuser de ce verdict.
He was not ( due to lack of improvisation and creative abilities) And I can't forgive him for not coming to Django"s funeral after so many years of cooperation.
Beautiful playing by a master musician. Grappelli is probably the best soloist of all time, on any instrument.

What a blessing to the world

da19lila.38. What was he doing if he wasn't improvising? His variations on the melody were beautiful.
some one could tell me the name of the violonist (probably the fisrt violonist) beetwen 4:39 an 4:42. many thanks by advance
does this concert exists in cd?

Y con Menuhin ya te mueres
He was not ( due to lack of improvisation and creative abilities) And I can't forgive him for not coming to Django"s funeral after so many years of cooperation.
This is a factual and musically ignorant comment. The performance was not read from written music. He created it- in other words IMPROVISED!
