I'm assuming for aesthetic purposes it will slide in easily and the USB C cord will be accessible from the slot to reach the back of the console. Although I can't imagine Sony wanting you to be pulling it in and out occasionally so I'm assuming it will probably be secured in the slot somehow. Can't wait for the inevitable announcement! :)
I've got a backlog of ps4 games so logically I should just wait until ps5 slim comes out, but what's tempting me is that I can play those ps4 games on the ps5 and some (not all) have upgraded graphics and fps. But I think since it's only about 3 or 5 months away (about 3-5 games to complete) I should probably just wait...
CP: At this point if you want the new model PS5 and aren’t in a rush I would just wait a bit longer.. then once it’s officially announced you can make the decision on which to get.
Thank you very much. I thought the new slim version of the PS5 would have more hardware upgrades. If it's just a difference in size, I'd rather buy the PS5 now. If I want an upgrade, I'll wait for the pro version to come out. After all, we don't carry it around like a phone, so whether it's big or small doesn't really matter. Thank you for the informational video. I just wasn't sure if I wanted to get a Playstation 5 sooner or wait until the slim come. But I believe it would make more sense that I wait for the slim. Because you're right, I would regret getting the current version if I see how awesome that new version becomes. I'm going to start saving my money for a Playstation 5 slim. It should also work better and have a lower price too.

There's nothing wrong with it now, what have you been listening to people put the ps5 down because of a pro that doesn't exist, or the slim? You'll regret it if you don't get the og, I know that sounds crazy, but the og comes with everything, and still gets the same updates.

There is advantages and disadvantages with waiting for the PS5 Slim. Slim version is probably smaller in size. In the 1st month it comes out wouldn’t scalpers buy up most of the stock, and resell at higher prices. Isn’t that what scalpers did for 1.5 years after PS5 was released. Secondly there is free PS Plus Collection games that I think will expire in 2 months. I downloaded God of War, Uncharted 4, Batman for free.

One big drawback to waiting will be losing out on the PS+ Collection which has arguably some of the biggest PS4 games from the last generation.. Thankfully gamers have until May 9th 2023 to purchase a PS5 and redeem.. Assuming they are interested in those particular games of-course.

Those games are not FREE, you are paying a subscription/rental service! If you want to have those games I recommend buying them now on the cheap in their physical form.
@@ignacio6454 Well yes the base subscription service is $60 per year or $5 per month. Most of time im paying this as I want to play games online like Fifa or COD. If people play online they've already paid for it.
CP: I can see why you would make that assumption, but I believe it will end up being a quality piece of hardware. I doubt Sony wants users to be removing the disc drive as its main purpose is to not have to build two separate console models. It will probably slot in and be secured in place where it would very unlikely be removed for a good amount of time (if ever).

The new PS5 is going to run hotter and louder than the launch model because it it going to use traditional thermal paste in lieu of liquid metal on the A.P.U.. Contrary to popular belief, it's going to be much less efficient a design. I say spring for a disc drive ps5 if you can get your hands on one. Something tells me the external disc drive on the new modular model is going to be both proprietary and in short supply because the console market is forcing the consumer towards digital distribution only in a very manipulative way. I have the disc drive because I have nearly 100 ps4 games on disc and the backwards comparability is awesome.
What I find unique with the PlayStation and Xbox is that they typically 'shrink' or improve the next lineup in the same generation. For example the original PlayStation 2, 3 and 4 started off as mammoth consoles and get replaced by a dwarfish one namely the 'slim' and the PlayStation 5 likewise will follow suit. Likewise the PlayStation 4 pro is obviously more powerful than the original and slim version with 4K while the original and slim could only play 1080p or 1080i as maximum resultion. I think instead of creating original big consoles the PlayStation should just keep the same small size throughout the generation. For example with the PlayStation 6 arrives they should keep it as a small console like the slim and withdraw slim consoles all together.

One of the factors of the slimmer components and lighter size is that the technology improves over time to make it so they can fit the same tech onto a smaller design and not have to increase the price to do so. Having the console weigh and be smaller in general reduces shipping costs as well which means more $ in the bottom line. In the case of having one core model for this next revision makes it cheaper to make since its only one model that needs to be manufactured vs the two that they have now. With the additional of the detachable disc drive they can save money by only manufacturing one model of the system but still bundle the disc drive in to have two separate SKU's.
😢 Lately, I have been asking whether or not I should get a ps5. Some people said yes. But I have been waiting for the ps5 pro even though if I have to wait until 2024 or 2025. As we said, the console design is not so great. The console is very expensive, it is better to save and wait. They will eventually come up to a console. Sorry Sony, you want us to wait. That's fine because most of us can wait. I am not getting any ps5 accessories until after I get the ps5 pro that is if Sony has choosing to release one in the first place. From the ps4 to ps5 there have been a major change in the design of both consoles and controllers and not everyone got the chance to fully enjoy their console and controller. Why provide players with a controllers pro when there isn't a console pro🤯

Are you considering getting the revision coming in September or for you it has to be a Pro? Also what older games (by then) would you play when you get your pro?
So if there's no real benefit to upgrading to the Slim from the existing PS5 model/models, then what's the point of upgrading to the PS5 Slim if you haven't already bought one yet other than aesthetics? I would just bite the bullet and get the current PS5 if that was the case, before they cease production. The whole digital vs disc argument though, well that's a different story altogether, and if you haven't got a PS5 yet, I wouldn't even waste my time getting the digital model.

Well ultimately you made that choice to begin with, so you have to live with your choice in the end. No offence Intended but you know what I mean. They are the choices you have to make in life.

There are plenty of reasons why gamers would've chosen one model over the other, especially in the first two years of the PS5's release where most gamers couldn't even find a system, let alone have the option of a choice in which to choose. When they finally did, they didn't have a choice of which to buy as you just had to get whichever was available at the time. What if those who wanted a PlayStation 5 could only budget for $400 and not $500? What if only the digital version was available? A very stark contrast from PS5 availability now where you can find them relatively easy in comparison, so the choice is not as hard for gamers who do not yet have the console... With the new revision being only one model with the detachable disc drive, you no longer have to deal with any of the issues gamers had with choice initially.
Just happy I was able get one at retail price couple weeks ago(only took 2 years). I don't care about revisions... It's the digital edition and hiding behind my big ol' tv anyway never to be seen again. 😅 I never want to deal with discs ever either.

At the end of this year I’ll be getting myself a PlayStation console collection. I’ve had my disc version PS5 for a few months and that’s in my living room, but I’ll get a digital version in my bedroom. Then I’ll mess around with a PS4 and PS3 in my living room also. I have my disc version PS5 standing up right next to my TV on a tall and skinny organizing cart.
They are a dime a dozen at every store now, I picked up the God of War disc version and asked the behind the counter if he had stock and he basically said, stock isn't a problem WHT so ever anymore.

@@GamesPointBlank bought it from a scalper, couldn't find one at stores I sold it because it was literally a paper weight. No games. I bought solely for gears 5 multi-player I wanted to play 120 fps and less input lag. It played amazing for a month then T.c. decided to add a delay after every single input and slow the game down on top of that. Pissed was not the word. Had I known, I would have never gotten a series x and would have bought a ps5. And I could have because I was able to add one in my cart and check out but I wanted a series x more.

Definitely waiting it out, the current PS5 is so ugly and I don’t have space for such a huge console. Plus I don’t want any physical games anymore so if rumors of the disc drive being removable then another reason to get it.

I have a ps5 now and I absolutely hate how big it is. Wait for the slim. Whoever designed it is an idiot and it's ugly. Looks like a freaking ugly spaceship on my shelf. Series x looks 10 times better. They should of just kept it simple.
Every version of the slim is just a cheaper version of the current model. Worse vents, cooling, with the same software jammed into smaller plastic. Get whatever you want. Since ps2 I never bought a slim model 😊

My comment was more geared towards collectors and how it would affect the market if we don't get a backwards compatible Slim model. Mind you the PS4 is not backwards compatible with the PS3. PS4 games in general are a big part of the PS5’s market appeal so I would be shocked if they drop solely PS4 disc support in favor of only PS4 digital games since the support is already in place. However, I do remember the PS3 originally started fully backwards compatible, then one of the first revisions removed the hardware that made it natively compatible with PS2 discs in favor of lowering costs and using inferior software emulation. Only to fully remove compatibility with subsequent sim revisions altogether. I honestly don’t see this being an issue this time around, however it is something to keep in mind until they officially announce it and confirm for themselves.. thanks again! 🙌

I have ps4 slim and im going to wait for ps5 slim because current ps5 version is to big for my setup

There is advantages and disadvantages with waiting for the PS5 Slim. Slim version is probably smaller in size.
In the 1st month it comes out wouldn’t scalpers buy up most of the stock, and resell at higher prices. Isn’t that what scalpers did for 1.5 years after PS5 was released.
Secondly there is free PS Plus Collection games that I think will expire in 2 months. I downloaded God of War, Uncharted 4, Batman for free.

One big drawback to waiting will be losing out on the PS+ Collection which has arguably some of the biggest PS4 games from the last generation.. Thankfully gamers have until May 9th 2023 to purchase a PS5 and redeem.. Assuming they are interested in those particular games of-course.

Those games are not FREE, you are paying a subscription/rental service! If you want to have those games I recommend buying them now on the cheap in their physical form.
@@ignacio6454 Well yes the base subscription service is $60 per year or $5 per month. Most of time im paying this as I want to play games online like Fifa or COD. If people play online they've already paid for it.
The detachable disk drive makes me think that the drives are poor quality
CP: I can see why you would make that assumption, but I believe it will end up being a quality piece of hardware. I doubt Sony wants users to be removing the disc drive as its main purpose is to not have to build two separate console models. It will probably slot in and be secured in place where it would very unlikely be removed for a good amount of time (if ever).
I definitely wait for the new model. I'm not in a rush to get a PS4 so might as well wait for the updated version.

with ps4 pro, you can play ghost of tushima, gow ragnarok, octopath traveler 2, RE4, etc.

The new PS5 is going to run hotter and louder than the launch model because it it going to use traditional thermal paste in lieu of liquid metal on the A.P.U.. Contrary to popular belief, it's going to be much less efficient a design. I say spring for a disc drive ps5 if you can get your hands on one. Something tells me the external disc drive on the new modular model is going to be both proprietary and in short supply because the console market is forcing the consumer towards digital distribution only in a very manipulative way. I have the disc drive because I have nearly 100 ps4 games on disc and the backwards comparability is awesome.

ya digital only games means more mony for the companies so of course they will force it down peoples throats.
What I find unique with the PlayStation and Xbox is that they typically 'shrink' or improve the next lineup in the same generation.
For example the original PlayStation 2, 3 and 4 started off as mammoth consoles and get replaced by a dwarfish one namely the 'slim' and the PlayStation 5 likewise will follow suit.
Likewise the PlayStation 4 pro is obviously more powerful than the original and slim version with 4K while the original and slim could only play 1080p or 1080i as maximum resultion.
I think instead of creating original big consoles the PlayStation should just keep the same small size throughout the generation.
For example with the PlayStation 6 arrives they should keep it as a small console like the slim and withdraw slim consoles all together.

One of the factors of the slimmer components and lighter size is that the technology improves over time to make it so they can fit the same tech onto a smaller design and not have to increase the price to do so.
Having the console weigh and be smaller in general reduces shipping costs as well which means more $ in the bottom line.
In the case of having one core model for this next revision makes it cheaper to make since its only one model that needs to be manufactured vs the two that they have now.
With the additional of the detachable disc drive they can save money by only manufacturing one model of the system but still bundle the disc drive in to have two separate SKU's.
😢 Lately, I have been asking whether or not I should get a ps5. Some people said yes. But I have been waiting for the ps5 pro even though if I have to wait until 2024 or 2025. As we said, the console design is not so great. The console is very expensive, it is better to save and wait. They will eventually come up to a console. Sorry Sony, you want us to wait. That's fine because most of us can wait. I am not getting any ps5 accessories until after I get the ps5 pro that is if Sony has choosing to release one in the first place. From the ps4 to ps5 there have been a major change in the design of both consoles and controllers and not everyone got the chance to fully enjoy their console and controller. Why provide players with a controllers pro when there isn't a console pro🤯

So if there's no real benefit to upgrading to the Slim from the existing PS5 model/models, then what's the point of upgrading to the PS5 Slim if you haven't already bought one yet other than aesthetics? I would just bite the bullet and get the current PS5 if that was the case, before they cease production. The whole digital vs disc argument though, well that's a different story altogether, and if you haven't got a PS5 yet, I wouldn't even waste my time getting the digital model.

There are plenty of reasons why gamers would've chosen one model over the other, especially in the first two years of the PS5's release where most gamers couldn't even find a system, let alone have the option of a choice in which to choose.
When they finally did, they didn't have a choice of which to buy as you just had to get whichever was available at the time. What if those who wanted a PlayStation 5 could only budget for $400 and not $500? What if only the digital version was available?
A very stark contrast from PS5 availability now where you can find them relatively easy in comparison, so the choice is not as hard for gamers who do not yet have the console...
With the new revision being only one model with the detachable disc drive, you no longer have to deal with any of the issues gamers had with choice initially.
Just happy I was able get one at retail price couple weeks ago(only took 2 years). I don't care about revisions... It's the digital edition and hiding behind my big ol' tv anyway never to be seen again. 😅 I never want to deal with discs ever either.

At the end of this year I’ll be getting myself a PlayStation console collection. I’ve had my disc version PS5 for a few months and that’s in my living room, but I’ll get a digital version in my bedroom. Then I’ll mess around with a PS4 and PS3 in my living room also. I have my disc version PS5 standing up right next to my TV on a tall and skinny organizing cart.

They are a dime a dozen at every store now, I picked up the God of War disc version and asked the behind the counter if he had stock and he basically said, stock isn't a problem WHT so ever anymore.

I sold it because it was literally a paper weight. No games. I bought solely for gears 5 multi-player I wanted to play 120 fps and less input lag. It played amazing for a month then T.c. decided to add a delay after every single input and slow the game down on top of that. Pissed was not the word. Had I known, I would have never gotten a series x and would have bought a ps5. And I could have because I was able to add one in my cart and check out but I wanted a series x more.

Definitely waiting it out, the current PS5 is so ugly and I don’t have space for such a huge console. Plus I don’t want any physical games anymore so if rumors of the disc drive being removable then another reason to get it.

I have a ps5 now and I absolutely hate how big it is. Wait for the slim. Whoever designed it is an idiot and it's ugly. Looks like a freaking ugly spaceship on my shelf. Series x looks 10 times better. They should of just kept it simple.

Every version of the slim is just a cheaper version of the current model. Worse vents, cooling, with the same software jammed into smaller plastic. Get whatever you want. Since ps2 I never bought a slim model 😊

My comment was more geared towards collectors and how it would affect the market if we don't get a backwards compatible Slim model. Mind you the PS4 is not backwards compatible with the PS3. PS4 games in general are a big part of the PS5’s market appeal so I would be shocked if they drop solely PS4 disc support in favor of only PS4 digital games since the support is already in place. However, I do remember the PS3 originally started fully backwards compatible, then one of the first revisions removed the hardware that made it natively compatible with PS2 discs in favor of lowering costs and using inferior software emulation. Only to fully remove compatibility with subsequent sim revisions altogether. I honestly don’t see this being an issue this time around, however it is something to keep in mind until they officially announce it and confirm for themselves.. thanks again! 🙌

I think one of the biggest reason was covid supply chain issue and the chip shortage meant lack of supply. It seems that shouldn't be an issue.
