The most suprising this is not the fact this game even exists, it's the fact for some reason it has an english patch while the first Devil Summoner still doesn't
I might do it once I learn Japanese and learn how to program so I can re-program it correctly. I just need people to test it out once I get out an alpha version. I plan on being a computer engineer (it's a mix of electrical engineering and computer science or soft ware engineering).

Well, that's the same as the original, since Nakajima and Yumiko share a single EXP counter. As long as one of them are alive it doesn't matter. I actually ended up kinda missing this "feature" in MT2...
@@notbaldfrost Correct, they do share a single pool of EXP. In Kyuuyaku, this was changed unfortunately to where death means they will stop receiving EXP until they are revived.
@@Azazelea China has some pretty strict laws against themes of death, skulls, red blood and demons. And we’re talking about Megami Tensei so I would imagine they decided to just not include most of the game instead of cutting that stuff out. I noticed most of the enemies in this version are the ones that don’t necessarily relate to those topics.

If you look really really really closely at P5R you can see that it has a completely new translation which is really stupid because they should’ve just translated the new content and reuse the vanilla translation
Well considering both Persona 5 Royal and Strikers got an EFIGS localisation, the most probable is that SMT III will get the same treatment so it'll take a while to be done

Nice video and thank you for playing through the game! I can assure you no bug was introduced by the translation, and all the weird stuff (demon names, heavily reused sprites, etc.) are as they were in the Chinese version.

Just bought a Ps3 and bought DDS and Persona 3 FES and also a PsVita and all the persona games so I’m going on a binge to play a lot of megami tensei😏 I even have a 2ds and I plan to get all them ds Megami Tensei games.

I beat the Kyuuyaku version of the original and I'm working on Kyuuyaku MegaTen 2 now before playing SMT 1, 2 and if... I was so inspired by you I beat the first in one weekend and I felt like I was losing my mind, but I am already level 15 in the sequel so I guess I liked it. Anyway, thank you for making these strange old games feel approachable for someone who was interested and curious for a long time but scared off by their quirks and general mysterious aura.
Random thought: Shin megami tensei Alexa is what we all need. Skyrim did it. Just imagine not just having the normal eye gouging excitement shin megami games have but now it has the extra excitement factor of it miss hearing you mid boss fight and have you talk to him instead of using an Almighty attack. Think about navigating a maze with only words. It would be literally bliss and probably put me in the hospital if not 6 feet under.
I hope you give the Majin Tensei series a try! I think they both have fan translations now (the second one did for sure last I check because I played it, but I also caught wind the first did as well). I think they’re interesting, lesser known series in the west that are kind of a prelude for the Devil Survivor series later on. They’re certainly interesting games that I think deserve more recognition.

I'm a southern Californian who was crazy enough to complete the original (Kyuuyaku version of) Megami Tensei a month ago. I must be a rare SMTer. I sooooo wanna try out this rare mobile Java based miniature version of the original monolith someday.
Also play the Mobil SMT I experience. This is the only official translation of the 1st SMT game available and you can only play it on older IOS devices. I believe in Japan you could play it on Android. SMT II also has an IOS port, but this one is exclusive to Japan. The original SMT ports are interesting because they’re basically just official emulations of the GBA versions of the games.
If you want to go that route, it'd probably be easier to use the actual GBA version that has a patch (based on the official iOS script) that's in public testing right now: twitter.com/gymzatan/status/1354568780693843970?s=19 (look in OP's twitter history for the latest hotfixes) I'd definitely suggest that over trying to play the iOS port of this version, which is no longer sold, supported, or compatible with any iOS version before 11.
