If anything, they simply should have made Shockwave the leader instead, when deciding on character development, since he doesn't seem to change in mass when he turns himself into that giant laser gun. Hasbro, for some reason saw Megatron as a good leader for the decepticons. Eventually, they did change Megatron into Galvatron, which turned into a massive cannon. The actual toy however...looked worse than the original Megatron, imho. That is until Ehobby came out with the anime accurate, purple version, which looks much better.

As someone who was born in '99, I was raised mostly on Animated, RiD '07 and the BayMovies. However, I'd seen the original movie long before any of them and a few episodes of the original show. Just a few days ago, I'd received the Generation 1 boxset with every single episode in a 13-Disc box, and I've discovered one thing... Fuck, I was I was born in the 80's.
I love how they clearly don't know that Megatron wasn't a gun because that's evil, they just had to take a bunch of Japanese toys and make a cartoon out of them. Megatron was a gun because they had a gun toy to sell.
+Michael Ross There's a lot of those too. There are issues with selling a realistic looking toy gun, so they usually just made him a tank after the original series, and sometimes various types of aircraft.
I think they should've worked their way up from G1, just to demonstrate how complicated the engineering has become since them. Imagine then trying to transform RiD Ultra Magnus.
I had almost the whole collection until recently. Two years ago, I donated all my old Transformers to a friend who collects them. (But I kept Optimus.) I remember what a pain in the ass it was to transform Megatron and Starscream, because none of the parts really stabilized into position. As soon as you tried to move them, their heads would start flopping all over the place.

Imagine if these three decided to transform the 3rd Party figures. They would probably go crazy with how many steps they require to transform them from robot to whatever their alt modes were, and vice-versa.
I wanted Chad to loose, no disrespect to the guy, but I wanted him to play the Famicom game: James and Mike have had to suffer that god-awful Transformers game already, this is Chad's right of passage
You should do this again, but with some more modern toys, such as Revenge of The Fallen Leader Class Optimus Prime, Masterpiece Megatron, and Robots in Disguise Side Burn. (The video will be approximately 10 hours long.)
The intro dialog to actually showing the toys and transforming them took forever. You could have showed pictures of the toys as vehicles and as robots at least some times in between you guys talking. Also, you didn't make the black screen long enough on the right (our view) and could see beyond it when shooting the guy on James' left talking.
I know this was acouple of years ago but I would challenge you guys to transform the Masterpiece versions of those same characters and see how you would like it!
It's a real pity that this never became a yearly thing. I could imagine James, Mike and Chad doing this every year, with them each having them transform various Transformers from generation to generation. And maybe, have them try to transform the 3rd Party Transformers. I guarantee they would get frustrated with the Transformers with the more advanced transformations.
