I worked on this nearly every day for two months, totaling to just under 500 hours. I hope people enjoy it, and that this doesn't stop Extra from being created/released. Please note that I had to completely disable game audio to stop the game from desyncing, so all of the audio here was manually inserted back in with higher quality music/samples. This took me about the same amount of time to do as creating the TAS itself, so if you see any input/routing errors you don't need to tell me. I already know from staring at every single frame under a magnifying glass.
This Tool-Assisted Speedrun (TAS) was created with hourglass which allows for save stating and frame advance. It aims to beat the game in the shortest time possible while also doing all platforming secrets without the wrong warp glitch. Some time vs entertainment trade-offs are also done. This run is not a show of skill as it was not created in real-time, only a video for entertainment and to see what could be done if the Real-Time Action (RTA) runners could execute entirely frame perfect input and see the future.

I love how these TAS playthroughs make everything look like it's on the scrub level when in reality the things that TAS runs breeze through can be things that are nigh impossible to us as humans, that's why I love TAS playthroughs, always makes the main character or characters of choice depending on the game look much better.

Happil 2 is not complete yet, and Will be nerfed to be enjoyable, but as the 0.3.0 it has a reason to be there...

VM + Hourglass to do the input, and some secrete magic to get around the hourglass protection which won't be released to protect games like this with "Hourglass protection" from having players cheat clear videos in them.

To get to Boss Rush? About 3 years. To finish the game? 7 and a half years
If you're curious. It usually takes a couple hundred hours for the experienced fangame player. Kamilia (yes, Kamilia is a real person in the fangame Community) took I think 300 hours to clear this
It depends on how good you are and how much you play per day, it is usually a game that takes 200-500 hours to beat, although if you are extremely good you can spend 110-200 hours
And already the most extreme case would be that of blue, a Japanese player considered by many to be the best in the community who took 135 hours to pass the game 100% and taking into account that the game 100% takes approx twice as long to pass. the normal game I guess it takes about 50-80 hours to pass the normal game.
But hey, considering that you will play 2 hours a day and have an average time you could finish the game in about 5-8 months, although if you play 5 hours a day and you are very good you could finish it in a month.
Holy crap, 500 hours in 2 months? Were you working 60 hour work weeks just on this? That dedication is insane
It was mostly around 8 hours per day, with a few longer 12-14 hour sessions. I only took a few days off and spent basically all of my free time working on it for those two months.

1. This is not a real-time run. It was played frame by frame with save states using the program Hourglass. So this is not to show skill, but instead to show how fast a perfect run would be and for entertainment.
2. This is a fangame of I Wanna Be The Guy, of which there are many thousands on the internet. Most I Wanna Be The Guy fangames are available on delicious-fruit.com/ , but some games are only available on twitter and other websites so some googling is required to get rarer games.

when i try to use hourglass with Kamilia 3, it doesn't work, and on kamilia 2 it works but crashes when I use savestates. do you know anything about this or is it just my computer? were you using windows 7 or xp? sorry im really interested in this stuff and im trying to make my own :P

It is because you can not TAS Kamilia 3 if you dont decompile it. Wihdget did it but he said that he will not give it to anyone. It is because kamilia 2 and kamilia 3 are differents from other fangames, they are much protected.

+Filupnot You need to use windows XP to use hourglass successfully with fangames, and having sound enabled will generally cause crashes when you go to use save states. To record your run to use the AVI button at the top of the hourglass window, but I had to remove the sound entirely to stop the game from desyncing 1 minute into the run. To put it back in I used a video editor and manually placed every single song and sound effect...an effort which took just about as long as making the input file. They each took 1 month spending 4-8 hours a day with only a couple breaks. In total 2 months and roughly 500 hours.
This game is protected, you can't just throw it in the decompiler, and as such I won't release any info regarding how to do it.

Let's see how many other references there are. I saw lots of Touhou, with the occasional Ikaruga and Dodonpachi in there to get your classic shmup fix. Certain things were designed after Kirby and VVVVVV. Lots of bosses, but I found Omega Zero from MMZ3 and MMZX, way too much Vocaloid, and there was even a nice Gradius bit in there late in the game. I especially enjoyed Circus Galop from Stepmania and the Pokemon. How does the Minesweeper section work tho?

The cool thing about Kamilia is that it takes stages and bosses from other fan-games. So most of the enemies and patterns in this game are from other games you can check out as well. If you find a copy of the game, or at least pay attention to the credits in this very video, you'll find a bunch of game titles you can look up for more masocore style gameplay.
