Exactly what I was after! Buying our first house in the next few weeks and having one of these fridges is the goal. Impossible to actually see them in action at the stores in the UK, so this is really helpful - thank you :)
Thank you so much for this detailed video! I saw it at Home Depot last month and fell in love. You have confirmed my decision to purchase this refrigerator. Thanks!!!
This was a nicely detailed video! I wanted to compare the flex 4-door with something like the 4/3 door bespoke version to see which one would be best. Also, you're one of the first people that I've seen that actually explains the use cases for the "split-refrigerator" section, thanks!
Love your review.. Lots of great insights. A few of other benefit of having the beverage center enclosed: 1) preventing visiting children from using or playing with it and making a mess. 2) keeping dust and dirt from collecting on the tray. 3) Curbing mold as the entire unit is enclosed under refrigeration.
I LOVE your review. You give the realistic details about daily use like waiting for the ice to plop out or water pooling in the outside drink dispenser type. Thank you!!
Just ordered this fridge and I am SO excited! This is two years after you posted this, any updates? Do you still love the fridge? Have you had any issues?
We have a 9 year old Samsung Chef Collection 4 door smart fridge that is still in like new condition and still is an incredible refrigerator. It's been haunted with the ice maker mess and the ice maker parts were changed out 5-6 times and the issue never resolved. Samsung has offered us a 50% off coupon code but I'm really struggling to make the new purchase. I look at the baskets inside this fridge and they are not the same quality as were in the Chef Collection. I'd also be downsizing from 34 to 29 cu ft. I appreciate your review and guess I've got a decision to make. The coupon has a time limit...
I get that - making big decisions that you know are gonna affect your everyday life, even in a small way, is hard. I would say this refrigerator is AWESOME! BUT, it's definitely not for everyone - the style of it makes it the perfect refrigerator for many (like us) but not necessarily the best for everyone in every situation/setup...
We had the same issue (ice maker jam up, never resolved) with our previous Samsung fridge. I'm happy, actually delighted to say that we purchased this exact flex zone fridge except in the 29 cu ft size. Its AMAZING! and you mentioned the quality of the shelves, drawers: all are excellent quality. I hope you get this in time to help you make your decision! But good luck either way!
Thanks for your informative video. I just purchased a 4 door Bespoke. So far I love it. Wondering if I could remove the 2 plastic panels over the double ice trays. It kinda annoying to have to slide one to get the scooper and then the second one to get to the ice. For now I keep the scooper in the bin with the ice. Thanks.
Yes, you can see in my video we don't use them - and we just keep the scooper in the bins with the ice - those "covers" make no sense... They were just annoying.
You can use the little LCD Interface inside the fridge. You just have to go to the Flex option, select it, then scroll to what you want it to be and select that. It's a little difficult to figure out at first because there are only 3 buttons in there (the app is much easier), but once you play around with those and figure out how to scroll through and select stuff, it's not hard.
Can you adjust half of the middle shelf up or down (or remove it) to make enough room for tall gallon, 1/2 gallon, and quart jugs? We typically have WAY more than we could put in the bottom door shelf as you have done. BTW, very nice vid!
You don't have to use the app. You can do it in the menu inside the fridge by going to the Flex Zone then hitting the circle to get into the options, then use the scroll arrows to select what you want to set it as.
Excellent review. I am making a buying decision on the 23 versus 29 cubic ft. Based on the visuals of your video, the 23 cubic ft has enough space and the counter depth looks great. Thanks for sharing
It’s an LG. Not sure if the exact model but I’d assume the exact model would no longer be available since we bought it about 6 years ago. Got it from Lowe’s.
Our fridge’s freezer shit the bed this week and I quick bought this from Costco with about an hour of research. Doing some hindsight research now and I’m relieved that I chose this one when I had a gun to my head. It arrives in a week. Just hoping it fits in the 72” tall space in the cabinetry. 😬🤞
Ugh - I'm a big researcher so I hate having to buy something spur of the moment without the time to do tons of research on it. But in this case, you did well as far as I'm concerned. The fridge is still running great and we still love it. Hopefully, it fits your space!!!
Hi just wanted to understand if the tray of the ice maker could be removed and use for something else ? Also what is the Electicity consumption rating ?
If you turn the ice makers off, you could certainly remove the ice trays and use the shelf for other stuff - it's a sliding shelf so easy to access. As for electricty, this is what I got from a listing: ENERGY STAR Certified; ENERGY STAR Canada Certified. Estimated Yearly Electricity Use: 76 Watt Amperage: 3.5 Amps
Hi we recently brought this refrigerator But don’t know how to make ice Do we have to fill water anywhere because we are not getting ice cubes automatically Please reply Thank you
Is your fridge hooked up to water? The same water that supplies water via the dispensers also feeds the ice makers. Otherwise, you have to go through the menu inside the fridge OR connect your fridge to the SmartThings app to turn the ice makers on. (The smartthings app is the easier way once you get it connected.)
Yeah, I get that. Refrigerators in general aren't made to last like the old ones from 40 years ago did. But, this is our second Samsung refrigerator and not only is it still going strong with no issues, but our old one is in our garage still going strong with no issues (it's on it's 7th year now).
Hello!! Thank you so much for your review. Have a question. I received my refrigerator today and just wondering how long would take to start making the ice. Thank you!!
@@hollywoodfrodo bought the full size 29 cu ft and will arrive on Friday. I feel much better about it. Also Not all pull out drawers work if you have mobility issues so this style will be easier as time goes forward if it's harder to move around.
I wanted to! I’m a super connected gadget geek with home automation everywhere. BUT… when we got ours the place only had the family hub version in Black Stainless steel and all our other kitchen appliances are standard silver stainless steel. If it were just up to me I’d have gotten it anyway but my spouse would die before he’d have one kitchen appliance not match the others!
Honestly not much at all. The only sound that really stands out to me is occasionally I hear ice dropping into the ice box but only when it's been emptied. Otherwise I can't say I've ever really noticed it making sound.
Thank you for your informative video. Why did you not go with the family hub? And do you have any issues opening the doors all the way with the counter depth?
We had to make sure it was pulled out far enough to open the doors all the way. Initially we had it pushed all the way back and the doors couldn’t open all the way. We pulled it an inch or two forward and then it was no problem. (As you can see in the video there is cabinetry walls surrounding the fridge. Might be different in different situations.)
Hi, your review was helpful. We are looking to buy this Friday but trying to figure out the different between beverage center vs autofill water pitcher? They both appear to be the same just a 300 dollar difference. Thanks.
"Beverage Center" is more of a description of the area - just make sure the one you want has everything you want. Some have only a water dispenser but no auto-fill pitcher. Some have both. Just depends on what you want. We love the auto-fill pitcher, but just depends on if it's something you think you'll use if it's worth it or not.
Thanks for the video. Planning to get one of this. I see you have a counter edge stick out on left side of the refrig. Does it affect opening of left frig door? I am checking coz my spot for the frig is exactly like yours!
Yes, we definitely had to pull the refrigerator out a little bit so that the doors could open fully without hitting the counter top. Probably better for air circulation too since the sides don't have much room.
I just got this same model and its arriving tomorrow but theres 2 models really. - Standard depth (this one) - counter depth The counter depth model is flush with your kitchen cabinets/counter. Hope this helps.
Two things to note. First, the ice maker can be turned on/off. You can do it through the fridge's buttons, but easier if you have it connected to SmartThings to do it on the app. Either way, make sure it's turned on! Secondly, everyone seems to have the same issue - it starts slow. Once it gets going and your ice bins are full it's as fast as any ice maker, but initially it does seem to take forever for the bins to start filling up.
Any idea on the timing of making ice? Like how often they dump ice when making? Mine is brand new but once it started making ice the drop time seems to be around 2 hours per drop. Seems like it should be around 20 minutes
I remember when we first started it seemed slow to me too. But the bins are quite large and since there are two of them, we always have plenty of ice now. I don't think that's because the ice making got any faster - I think it's just once the bins do fill up, it makes plenty of ice to keep them full. But at first it seemed like they were never going to get full.
@@NatalieGraceOfficial Mine knows when to stop making ice. I use the top tray. When I get ice I pull the ice forward as the sensor is in the rear. When the sensor 'sees' that more ice is needed, it makes more, but if you leave the ice piled up in the back, it won't know. It does seem like it takes forever until the baskets are full, then with the rear of the drawer emptied every time I get ice, it makes more pretty soon. Never have run out.
@@NatalieGraceOfficial not specific to this model, but I am speaking in general how ice makers are designed to work. So as ice generates and fills up tray it displaces lever that shuts ice maker. It is often opposite situation as some ice gets stuck keeping control lever depressed, until you knock off stuck ice off to let it come in default position and start producing ice. So those designed to fail safe.
The width is the width! Make sure you're going by exact measurements as listed on the exact model you ordered on the Samsung website - that's what I did. You'll want your space to be at least a little bit wider (an inch or so) than the fridge for sure. I actually almost got one that didn't fit - I initially was going to by the Bespoke version of the flex fridge, but thankfully, right before I confirmed the shipment I measured one more time and realized that fridge is taller than the non-Bespoke versions and would be about 1 inch too tall for our exact space. The Samsung product page will cover all the measurements including the door hinges which are on top of the fridge and therefore make the top a little taller than it would be otherwise.
@@hollywoodfrodo Thanks so much! I ordered from Costco for $1700 which is less than other sites. So will keep it and modify the space instead. This is very helpful! I will need to finish modify the wall before delivery🙂
@hollywoodfrodo Great review. Thank you! Are the ice bites "softer" like nugget ice (like you might find at restaurants like Sonic and Chic-fil-A) or are the just smaller ice cubes? TIA
They are just smaller regular ice cubes. The "soft" ice is a much more involved process which is why I'm sure no refrigerator offers it. I wish it was like that!
Hi, Thank you for the review. I am considering purchasing one of these refrigerators. However, I would like to know, where you fill the water tank or is your model plumbed in?
There is no reservoir - the ice/water system connects to existing plumbing/refrigerator water line. I do not think there is an option to use it any other way.
The water tank is on the left side, in the refrigerator, above the ice tray, which is the small draw. This automatically takes the water from the tank and makes ice, dropping into the ice draw. There is no water dispenser, which isn't a concern for me. Don't know if that is important to you. This model is not plumber in.
The Flex Crisper Drawer has two temp options. 1) Fridge: This will set the Crisper drawer to the same temperature as the fridge, which is between 34 ~ 44 °F (1 ~ 6°C). You can use this setting when storing vegetables, fruit, cheese, or other things you'd normally store at this temperature range. 2) Meat/Fish: Select this temperature to store meat, poultry, and fish for 3 to 5 days. It will set the drawer to 30 °F (-1 °C).
Honestly, I don't. I do remember that it took a while. Of course, my spouse emptied out the first few batches as you should with any brand new ice maker. But I know after about two days it was full and pretty much stays full.
Thanks for the overview. Definitely considering this fridge. The dual ice maker is most definitely not a selling point for me, and I was hoping to see that I could just turn one side off (UPDATE: Just saw in the comments that you can!). As long as it works, though, I guess we'll be happy (our GE ice maker has worked probably 2 years out of the 16 that we've owned it). Wondering, two years later, how good it's been for you.
It wouldn’t be a selling point for me either, if you don’t use ice it starts sticking together. But!!! It is a NICE TO HAVE because, my dog loves ice and cold water, I’d love to try stove top essence making (in a pot. Boil water and (mint etc) bowl in center inverted with ice on top to condense steam.. I have soda with hubby 2x a week. I’d def cycle it and find reasons to use it, ice cream experiments
Update: We bought it. Wife loves the two trays of consistent ice. We weren't thrilled about the pitcher, at first, but now I love it. I can fill my nalgene bottle in seconds, instead of standing at the fridge for a full minute, like a sucker. 😂 Need a good solution for lunch meats and cheese in the main compartment, though. Wish Samsung had added a flat drawer in there.
@@Donorcyclist I was the same with the pitcher. I didn't even really use it the first month or two - but once I started using it now I can't imagine having a fridge without it!
Hi! Thanks for the review. We're considering this fridge but we're concerned about Samsung's reputation. Have you had any issues with the fridge? Thanks.
We haven't had any issues. We even moved our old Samsung Fridge from before this one to our garage and are still using it (about 7 years now) with no issues. I have read some of the reports of people having issues with Samsung Fridges but we still love both of ours and haven't experienced any of those.
@@mikerogers1949 We're still loving it - as well as our previous Samsung Fridge which we still use and is in our garage. I agree with appliances you can generally get the best deal and warranty by going through Costco...
Great video! I plan on getting the 4 door flex fridge soon. Can you share the brand and model of the stackable washer and dryer? I saw it in the background and it looks so chic.
That's an LG Washer/Dryer stackable set. Not sure of the model but we've had them about 6 years so I'm sure that model has been replaced, probably a couple of times by now. They have been good - no issues. Was looking for maximum capacity that would fit into the space and settled on those. Oh, and we got them at Lowes (if that matters). By signing up for a Lowe's Credit Card (no fee), we got like 10% additional off the sale price...
ur welcome. I've always been a fan of Samsung electronics but never thought of them for home appliances until our last fridge - it was Samsung and we loved the design of it. It's now in our garage and still going strong as a second fridge since we got this one. We're still loving it!
Do you find the stainless steel finish dents easily? A few reviews have cited this, which is why I am considering the bespoke version to avoid the dent issue, Thank you
I don't know if I'd say "easily" but like a car - doesn't take a whole lot to dent it... I think we have one small dent in ours after a year from the door hitting the dryer.
Question: we use water dispenser alot .. if we open the fridge to fill the water in mug .. i there is an opening in the top.. will the temperature change if we open the water dispenser for too long and also is it convenient to use it on daily basis like every hour we might drink water.. just wondering
Well, I am not a scientist or an engineer so this is coming purely from a speculative pov... Yes, there is an opening to the fridge above the drink center so when that door is open you will lose SOME cooling - but I don't think much. I mean if you use it a lot and have it open for a while, then sure, the fridge is gonna have to do a little extra work to keep everything cool, but I'd guess it would be very minimal. As for convenience - personally, I don't find it a big deal at all - once you get used to it, opening that door to get water doesn't take any more time than a regular dispenser on the front of the door - and I like the way it dispenses water way better than many of the typical dispensers. Because it's only for water and not ice, you can a very clear straight down dispenser - much easier to see and know exactly where the water's going than on others I've used in the past. Plus you have the pitcher so you can also pull out the pitcher and shut the door - pour your water, take your time - then put the pitcher back in when you're done. Okay - that was a very long answer - I talk too much! :-) But hopefully helpful.
Does this refrigerator server a small family or large family? i wonder if counter depth would be too small for a family of 7. Great job on the video, it is the most informative so far.
Thanks! As for the size, it's just me and my spouse and we don't cook a whole lot either + our galley kitchen would make a non-counter depth fridge stick out way to far and be in the way. But for a family of 7, I think you'd want a bigger fridge - they do make the 4-Door Flex in the standard size. I just don't think counter depth would offer the space you'd want.
Does it require a several inch gap behind the refrigerator? We are trying to decide if we want the larger model but wondering how far it will actually stick out since our current refrigerator won’t push completely to the wall and wondering how much space we should account for that.
@@lareeholcomb5532 probably not that big of a gap but it's going to stick out quite a bit if you get the bigger one so depending on how your counters are set up
Great review! We put the cart before the horse and ours is on it's way already but good to see a decent review. Only difference is we got the pull out drawer freezer (no flex zone). We always need more freezer space rather than refrigerator space.
Thanks! Yeah, if we didn't have our old fridge out in the garage for extra storage I don't think we could make it with just one small freezer section either.
Hmmmmm... I'm definitely not an expert. There is a sensor that's used to detect when the ice tray is full to stop making ice. I'm not sure exactly how it works but I'd see if I could locate that and see if maybe it's locked or something. Make sure there isn't a security tape or something on there. I remember we were amazed at how much tape and static cling protective film there was to remove. Otherwise I'd contact Samsung to see if they have other things to try.
So, as you see in the video, the freezer/s have those pull out shelves which is a blessing and a curse as it causes you to lose a little space you'd have with static built in shelves. I measured and the pull out shelf is 12" x 12" (probably 12.2") so if you had a 12" pizza in a box that ended up being 13" wide, it wouldn't fit too well. If it was a pizza in a 12" box it would fit. Definitely not the roomiest freezer space. This fridge in general, as much as we love it, is one that I would not say works for everyone.
Thank you for the detailed video. We just purchased a model that is very similar to the one you are showing. We do have the two ice makers one for cubes and one for smaller size but there are two plastic pieces that are about 6” x 6” with a strange opening on the top that says ice bucket. One for each side but we have no idea what to do with them and what the purpose of them are. It does not say in the manual that we received and I see no picture of it anywhere either. Any ideas as to the purpose of these two contraptions? Thank you!
I don't know for sure - I don't recall anything like that with ours. BUT my guess is maybe they are meant to store extra ice??? No idea otherwise... But I am curious now!
If those 2 are the pieces that I imagine (same fridge here and I have something that resembles that) they are used to be pushed all the way back on top of the ice drawers (they should slide) in order for the ice to not fall from the back when you scoop it. And the little shape hope thingy is used to store the little ice shovel.
@@covacs02 Oh yeah, I'm sure that's it! We decided not to use them because they just seemed to get in the way. Of course, we do occasionally have ice fall from the back because of it so it's a trade off...
We got ours today and I had no idea the purpose of those things. The scoop does fit in there but I don't know if they go right in front or towards the back. If you put them in the back you can't put the scoop in. I think I am going to take them out.
Hello, I bought the fridge last month and I have a strange issue: the left door of the fridge (including the beverage center door) closes on it's own when opened. It will not stay open. The right side door stays open. I had a tech come out to check it and he checked it, leveled it, and said nothing could be done about this - it's the design of the fridge. I find this hard to believe. Did you have this issue at all? I'm wondering if it's an issue with my particular unit. Thanks.
It’s funny that I never noticed this - I guess I don’t generally have a reason to want the door to stay open - but after reading your message I tried it and yes, mine is the same. All the doors will stay open if opened wide EXCEPT the top left “beverage center” door. That one does appear to be designed to close automatically if left open.
Thanks for the review. Thinking of buying it and researching more about it. Is all the compartment removable and washable( especially the tray above the vegetable crisper n filter)?
I noticed you removed the little ice tray covers, and it appears you have the same issue I'm having. The ice at the rear of the tray (where it drops down from the maker) piles too high, so that when you slide the little covers back it knocks ice down into the back of the freezer. Did you experience that as well? Or maybe yours didn't have tray covers? We have the full depth fridge, so maybe yours doesn't have the room for those tray covers. Thankfully, this is the only minor inconvenience we've had so far with the fridge. I am not sure there's any fix for it other than remove the tray covers. Bummer to lose that little bit of storage space and spot to store the scooper if we pull them out.
yep, I'm going through the same thing. the ice piles high and falls to the shelf below. also, when I scoop it pushes more ice over the tray and onto the shelf below.
I agree - this isn't a horrible thing, but it is definitely not a perfect design. We do have those covers. We removed them because they seemed to get in the way a bit when in there. But removing them does cause you to get some ice knocked off the back when scooping sometimes.
@@VeganHeretic I'm in the habit of using the scoop to do a quick pull forward from the back before scooping ice, so that seems to prevent my scoop from pushing it out of the bin. Also do a bit more of a side scoop motion than a straight forward shove. Just a bummer the lids can't really slide on there, but I still love this fridge. Despite that, I'd say it's still the best ice setup I've ever used in a fridge.
1) It is a setting that can be turned on/off so make sure it's turned on! 2) The pitcher needs to be inserted into the holding space correctly to trigger refilling so make sure that's happening as well.
I recently bought this refrigerator… it’s just a week… but my auto fill water pitcher is not filling with water. It’s always empty. Is there any knob that I need to regulate? Also I don’t use Ice cubes that often. So is there anyway I can control the ice cube production?
Refilling the pitcher is something that can be turned on/off in the settings so it could just be that it's turned off. You can go through the menu on the inside of the fridge, but it's easier if you've connected it to SmartThings to do it inside the app. You can also turn on/off the each of the ice cube makers in the app.
In this video - LG - not sure what model. We don't have them anymore. About a year ago we got one of the new All-In-One Washer/Dryer Combos - We got the GE Profile one.
@@devlintube9610 We've had a year and so far so good - love it. It's nice to be able to put a load in before bed or in the morning on the way to work and know it'll be fully cleaned and dried! No more forgetting you had clothes in the washer and now they've been sitting in there wet all night. :-) At the time we got ours only GE and LG had them out and there were things about the GE we liked better, but if we were in the market now I think the Samsung one would probably be a strong contender.
Does the ice maker take forever to fill? I just got this refrigerator yesterday and the ice maker is taking forever. I left it overnight last night and it wasn’t even half full. I dumped it because I wanted to make sure to get clean ice (because it’s new) I’ve been waiting hours and there is still barely any ice….
It does seem that way at first... Once it gets going though, it doesn't seem to be a problem because the ice buckets hold quite a bit of ice between the two of them. I remember when we first got ours we felt the same way - why is the ice maker so slow?!?! But after those first few days, we've never gotten low on ice since.
How much space do you have on the top? It looks pretty tight. Any issue in terms of ventilation? Asking because I thought of getting this one till I found out the vertical dimension with the hinge pretty much matches the vertical space I have available so only around 1/4" space on top for ventilation.
We have about an inch of space above the fridge (for placement, make sure your considering the hinges in the front - if the large top of the fridge would only leave you 1/4" I don't think that's enough to accommodate the hinges - they are pretty big since they also include water piping and stuff). We also have about an inch on either side and we have it pulled about 3 inches from the back wall. We haven't had any issues with that set up.
I don't have the answer to that since we haven't done it ourselves. I would estimate no more than 24 hours, but probably a lot less since it's very efficient.
Not 100% sure I understand what you're asking, but I think I do. The shelves are about 14" from front to back. But with the doors open, from the back of the fridge to the front opening is 20.5". I assume you realize that 6.5" difference is what houses the shelves built into the door when the door is closed...
Yes! You can turn each ice maker on/off separately. So if you only want the small nugget ice, you can turn off the cube ice maker and use that bin for storage of nugget ice.
Does this model have a "lock" for the control panel? I can't find the information anywhere. My grandson keeps changing my flex-zone out of freezer mode 😢
Hello, I have this refrigerator, we had it for a year, and we were excited when we got it, but we have been having problems it's not cold enough, it's set to 36 f but it does not feel 36 F and also not sure why the bottom it defrost, and it make a weard noise, just wondering if you have any problems or my settings are wrong
I am not at all a professional in terms of diagnosing something like that. But I can say I have not experienced either of those things. Ours is still running great - we haven't had temperature issues and no weird noises to speak of.
The fridge hooks up to your existing water so it's all from the tap. It does have a filter to filter the water prior to it becoming ice or drinking water.
First, make sure the feature is turned on. You can do this in the settings menu inside the fridge, but easier to do in the SmartThings app if you have that connected to the fridge. Second, when you put the pitcher in there just make sure it clicks into place. Otherwise, it should just work.
So, not the filter replacement, but the actual plastic cover that covers where the filter goes? I don't know - I would assume you might be able to get one from the Samsung Parts Replacement, but not something I've needed or looked into myself.
Everyone ask that! After initial setup it seems to take forever, but once it gets going it's fine. I'd give it a day or two to amp up. Make sure you have the ice makers turned on!
Thank you so much for the response. I am planning on making a purchase soon and have been reading reviews. Some said the back freezes, etc. And they're all recent purchases - frome Mar 2024 - that's why I reached out since your video was done about two years ago.
@@MaurLawYnot Refrigerators in general seem to be a bit of a gamble these days regardless of the brand or style - seems like almost any one you look at you can find people who have had horror stories. They definitely don't make them like they used to! I am aware that there are people who've had some big issues with their Samsung Fridge, including this one, but this is our second Samsung. Our first one we moved to the garage when we got this one and even it is still going strong with no problems.
We just got ours today and we thought it would be easy to adjust the swing on these doors - they're preset at 125 degrees and we wan to move to 100 - have you seen any way to do this? We can't find anything! Samsung support only discusses moving the height of a door.
I am not aware of a way. We did move ours out about an extra 1/2 Inch from the wall to accommodate the swing and not have the door banging into the cabinets or washer/dryer on either side.
Does this fridge use the dual evaporater compressor r600? I heard it does and they break down in 1-2 years. Almost bought the bespoke side by side till I heard that and then I canceled my order.
I’ve had it for a year and cannot find a single video on this specific one, it’s different because of where our water filter is 😅it’s bigger with a lid and all the other videos are like weird skinny ones haha
@@melissasmith2019 What Nancy said! It seems to take a while at first (and don't forget those first several batches should be thrown out), but once it finally gets going, it keeps the bins full!
Thanks for this video, a couple of questions: 1) Can both doors open independently of each other? Can the left door be opened without opening the right door and vice versa? 2) Can you stop the jug in the beverage center from getting filled automatically? 3) How is customer support with Samsung? If something goes wrong? Thanks!
1) Yes. You do not have to open both doors - you can just open the side you need to access. 2) Yes - in the settings. (Easier if you'e connected it to the SmartThings app - it's under refrigerator settings.) 3) I have not had to deal with them on this fridge. I have in the past with a phone and I would say it's not a great experience overall. This is our second Samsung Refrigerator though and haven't had any issues.
@@hollywoodfrodo Great, thanks for the quick reply! One more question if you don't mind, do the doors close by itself once opened? So for example, if you fully open the left hand side door, then grab something from the counter to put in the fridge, does the door close due to weight of the jug etc or does it stay open?
@@Anil75987 They stay open. They are not self-closing. If you only open it a little, gravity might cause it to shut, but if you fully open it, it'll stay open.
@@hollywoodfrodo When you open the top left door with the top right door closed, does the top right door shake/move a little bit as if it wants to open too?
If by standard you mean is it the same on every Flex Refrigerator, then no, it is not. There are several different versions of the "beverage center." I believe some models come without the auto-fill pitcher.
Pitcher on refrigerator leaks and is a known manufacturing/design issue with Samsung. They supposedly redesigned a pitcher that does not leak, but refuse provide me with a replacement. Also replacement part was quoted as $157.99 plus shipping.
I’ve read the manual and all the comments here but can’t find how to control the temp of the bottom right flex space. I’m guessing it is only done in the app (though I hope not - I was hoping not to connect to wifi or use this app).
You can’t select specific temps for the Flex Zone. Instead you select modes that have preset temps (Beverage, Fruit/Veggies, Freezer, 1 or 2 others.). You can set this using the control inside the fridge - you don’t have to use the app via WiFi. It’s a bit easier in the app since the fridge controls use only 3 buttons. But if you scroll to the flex zone (my fridge also shows a pic so you know it’s for the bottom right) then hit the select button (round button in the center), it takes you to the various options to scroll through and select. Hope that helps.
@@hollywoodfrodo thank you for the reply, and putting up the awesome review. Man this thing is slower than molasses to get going. But it did fill up and I dumped the first bucket like they said. Waiting for the second one to fill up and I'll dump that one too. So far it's a good fridge I hope it holds up. First my wife was like "you got a fridge with a the TV?" And now I can't get her away from it. Putting up to-do list, menu planning; all sorts of crazy stuff. I think I opened up a Pandora's box of high-tech major appliances for her🤣. ✌️
@@wokeupmens Nice! So jealous you got the one with the screen. With the deal I got with ours they only had those in the black stainless steel at the time and everything in our kitchen is standard silver stainless. I was like "screw matching, I'll take the tech" but my spouse was a definite no go on that.
I haven't noticed an issue - it seems like it took a long time at the beginning but once it got going, we always have ice. That being said, there are only two of us so we don't have 5 people eating ice all day long. But every time I go to get ice it's full.
Assuming you mean the bottom right section that can be a fridge or a freezer, mine has that and I do not have the family hub. They make many different versions of the 4 Door Flex so you do have to pay close attention. I believe the family hub version is only available with the fridge/freezer flex section. The non family hub versions (there are many) have it both with and without. Also some versions do not have the full beverage center and the dual ice maker. You have to look closely at the specs of the exact models to make sure they have everything you want.
Hi just bought an open box one and it's missing the top left and top right bin from the fridge section. Could you send me your part numbers so I can order them?
I don't see part numbers on there anywhere. I can tell you the top right is the same as the middle right. Top left is different for sure - smaller shorter.
Crushed Ice - I don't think so. Personally I find the pellet side cubes better than crushed ice since the crushed ice from most refrigerators varies from shavings to pebbles to large oddly shaped rocks and you get the same advantage of more ice in contact with the liquid withe the pellet ice cubes from this. Pain to open the door - for water, definitely not; for ice maybe a little. I mean, you have to open the door, pull out the tray, then scoop your ice. BUT also the ice is right there and you can scoop quickly. I know on my old fridge when I wanted to fill a glass with ice I'd have to sit there forever with my glass pressed against the lever waiting for the system to move the ice into the tube and into my glass - I'd get 4 or 5 cubes, then wait 20 seconds, then 2-3 more, then wait 15 seconds, 3-4 more. So it's somewhat of a give and a take. One isn't necessarily better than the other - just what's more important to you.
I wanna order it with the 2 lower doors with adjustable side and lock for items with the internal water maker and ice but it seems to only be available in what your showing with the screen.
Unless something has changed, I know they had both. I actually wanted the one with the "family hub" screen (sucker for tech geek stuff) but my spouse thought that was ridiculous so we got the one without. This specific model is RF23A9671SR/AA
What is the highest thing you can place on the tray above the water dispenser? Is it possible to store a larger bottle in the beverage center? I notice 1liter milk in it above the water dispenser but our cola bottle is 1,5 liters so taller and since we take it out often I prefer it to be in the most reachable place without opening the full fridge doors.
A gallon of milk just barely fits on that shelf. Anything taller like your coke bottle would not fit. But you can put it on the other door for quick access - we have a "beverage" shelf on that door for us for taller things.
It is a feature that can be turned on/off so my guess would be it's currently turned off. If you've connected your fridge to the SmartThings app, in there it's under Refrigerator Options (have to click the 3 dot vertical ellipsis menu button then choose Refrigerator Options). If you're not connected to the app, you can do it through the settings on the fridge but I don't know exactly where in there it is.
Exactly what I was after! Buying our first house in the next few weeks and having one of these fridges is the goal. Impossible to actually see them in action at the stores in the UK, so this is really helpful - thank you :)
You're welcome - glad it helped!
No fluff just stuff - thank you for the wonderful review from a consumer's standpoint!
Thanks - glad you found it helpful.
Far better overview than the Samsung user manual! 😊
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful.
Just the kind of fridge demo I needed to see. Thank you so much for your efforts.
Glad to help - thanks for taking the time to let me know!
Thank you so much for this detailed video! I saw it at Home Depot last month and fell in love. You have confirmed my decision to purchase this refrigerator. Thanks!!!
Glad it helped. We're still loving it.
I loooove mine !!
@@hollywoodfrodo Is it possible to turn off the pellet size ice maker and use that ice bin for storage?
@@holly8190 Yes. You can turn each ice maker on/off independently.
This was a nicely detailed video! I wanted to compare the flex 4-door with something like the 4/3 door bespoke version to see which one would be best. Also, you're one of the first people that I've seen that actually explains the use cases for the "split-refrigerator" section, thanks!
Thanks - I'm glad you found it helpful!
Thanks! Yeah, it has way more positives than negatives. Still love ours!
I LOVE your review. You give the realistic details about daily use like waiting for the ice to plop out or water pooling in the outside drink dispenser type. Thank you!!
Glad you found it helpful and thanks for taking the time to say so!
Just ordered this fridge and I am SO excited! This is two years after you posted this, any updates? Do you still love the fridge? Have you had any issues?
Still have it. Still love it. Haven't had any issues. *knock on wood*
I have one and I’m in love with it. Totally awesome!!!!❤
We still love ours!!!
Great video. How do I switch the flex area from the freezer to the fridge without using the app?
You can use the little LCD Interface inside the fridge. You just have to go to the Flex option, select it, then scroll to what you want it to be and select that. It's a little difficult to figure out at first because there are only 3 buttons in there (the app is much easier), but once you play around with those and figure out how to scroll through and select stuff, it's not hard.
Can you adjust half of the middle shelf up or down (or remove it) to make enough room for tall gallon, 1/2 gallon, and quart jugs? We typically have WAY more than we could put in the bottom door shelf as you have done. BTW, very nice vid!
The middle shelf is two pieces. You can remove one if you want. Also the front of the right shelf is adjustable to to give you more space there.
Great video review. Do you need to download the app to convert the flex freezer to a fridge?
You don't have to use the app. You can do it in the menu inside the fridge by going to the Flex Zone then hitting the circle to get into the options, then use the scroll arrows to select what you want to set it as.
Excellent review. I am making a buying decision on the 23 versus 29 cubic ft. Based on the visuals of your video, the 23 cubic ft has enough space and the counter depth looks great. Thanks for sharing
Glad it helped. It's never bad to have extra space in the fridge, but yeah, we didn't want it sticking out any further. It's been great for us.
Very helpful for me too as I'm making a similar decision on refrigerator space
Thanks. Great review. Btw, what is the model of the washing machine beside the fridge ?
It’s an LG. Not sure if the exact model but I’d assume the exact model would no longer be available since we bought it about 6 years ago. Got it from Lowe’s.
@@hollywoodfrodo Thank you. No worries!!
Our fridge’s freezer shit the bed this week and I quick bought this from
Costco with about an hour of research.
Great review! Just received our flex today, so your review was right on time. Thank you!
Thanks! Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!
Which is this model ?
Hi just wanted to understand if the tray of the ice maker could be removed and use for something else ? Also what is the Electicity consumption rating ?
If you turn the ice makers off, you could certainly remove the ice trays and use the shelf for other stuff - it's a sliding shelf so easy to access. As for electricty, this is what I got from a listing: ENERGY STAR Certified; ENERGY STAR Canada Certified. Estimated Yearly Electricity Use: 76 Watt Amperage: 3.5 Amps
Hi we recently brought this refrigerator
But don’t know how to make ice
Do we have to fill water anywhere because we are not getting ice cubes automatically
Please reply
Thank you
Is your fridge hooked up to water? The same water that supplies water via the dispensers also feeds the ice makers. Otherwise, you have to go through the menu inside the fridge OR connect your fridge to the SmartThings app to turn the ice makers on. (The smartthings app is the easier way once you get it connected.)
Thank you very much for your prompt reply
That helps
Thank you
Buying one for Black Friday. Concerned about the Samsung quality for beyond a few months - is yours still going strong?
Yeah, I get that. Refrigerators in general aren't made to last like the old ones from 40 years ago did. But, this is our second Samsung refrigerator and not only is it still going strong with no issues, but our old one is in our garage still going strong with no issues (it's on it's 7th year now).
Hello!! Thank you so much for your review. Have a question. I received my refrigerator today and just wondering how long would take to start making the ice. Thank you!!

Shopping for this style refrig so I am especially glad to get this thorough review. Thanks!
Glad you found it helpful!
@@hollywoodfrodo bought the full size 29 cu ft and will arrive on Friday. I feel much better about it. Also Not all pull out drawers work if you have mobility issues so this style will be easier as time goes forward if it's harder to move around.
Thanks for your informative video. Question why did you not get the family hub? I am on the fence about getting it.
How much sound would you say the fridge makes?
Honestly not much at all. The only sound that really stands out to me is occasionally I hear ice dropping into the ice box but only when it's been emptied. Otherwise I can't say I've ever really noticed it making sound.
Awesome review. This exact unit is on sale at Costco until July 10, 2024 for $1499 and that includes delivery, install, and haul away.
Oh yeah, we try to buy all our appliances from Costco - usually get an extra year warranty too! Glad you found the video helpful.
@@hollywoodfrodo Yes, it does come with a 2-yr warranty. 👍
- Standard depth (this one)
- counter depth
The counter depth model is flush with your kitchen cabinets/counter.
Hope this helps.
Back with another question! So I just got it today and how long did it take for your ice maker to start dropping ice?
90 minutes
Is it possible for the ice sections to overfill or does it know when to stop making ice?
So those designed to fail safe.
thank you guy for your detailed video! I now want this fridge due to your great job video!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your review. I ordered one but realize my space is only 35" wide. Do you think it will fit or I should cancel it?
Nope not soft at all. This is NOT nugget ice.
Not sure why no one has created that yet. There are tons of counter top nugget ice makers now.
does ice have strange smell/flavor since it is opened in fridge?
No. Haven't noticed anything negative with the ice and while I might not if it were mild, my spouse definitely would!
Don’t buy Samsung
The water tank is on the left side, in the refrigerator, above the ice tray, which is the small draw. This automatically takes the water from the tank and makes ice, dropping into the ice draw. There is no water dispenser, which isn't a concern for me. Don't know if that is important to you. This model is not plumber in.
What ou said doesn't make any sense...
I mean, it has to be plumbed in, where else would it get the water from unless there was a water line going to it?
Thanks for your great review. In the flex crisper draw inside the fridge can you change the temperature like you can on the flex zone?
The Flex Crisper Drawer has two temp options. 1) Fridge: This will set the Crisper drawer to the same temperature as the fridge, which is between 34 ~ 44 °F (1 ~ 6°C). You can use this setting when storing vegetables, fruit, cheese, or other things you'd normally store at this temperature range. 2) Meat/Fish: Select this temperature to store meat, poultry, and fish for 3 to 5 days. It will set the drawer to 30 °F (-1 °C).
Do you remember how long it took for the ice to freeze after delivery?
Honestly, I don't. I do remember that it took a while. Of course, my spouse emptied out the first few batches as you should with any brand new ice maker. But I know after about two days it was full and pretty much stays full.
12 hours then dump it out 3 times.
Still using and loving it. No issues with the ice makers or otherwise.

Thank You for the video. Never been a Samsung fan of any of there products. But I have to say you sold me on the Fridge that is one Sharp fridge.
@@hollywoodfrodo thanks for the quick reply!
Definitely too small for a family of seven if you get the counter depth
Does it require a several inch gap behind the refrigerator? We are trying to decide if we want the larger model but wondering how far it will actually stick out since our current refrigerator won’t push completely to the wall and wondering how much space we should account for that.
@@lareeholcomb5532 probably not that big of a gap but it's going to stick out quite a bit if you get the bigger one so depending on how your counters are set up
@@lareeholcomb5532 I wanted the bigger one also but when I measured it it was going to be sticking out too much
Great review!
I Just purchased one yesterday and I love it. One ting though is that the ice maker stopped making ice 😭 idk how to fix it
And the ice maker is on for both.
Hi. We just purchased one and the ice make is not working either
@@hollywoodfrodo your right about the sensor! I have to move the ice a bit and the ice maker made more!
@@arlohomes4579 Hi! I figured my problem. I had to move the ice a little so the sensor can kick in and make more. Give it a try! 😊
Great video. What are the dimensions of the freezer compartment? Will it fit a store bought 12 inch pizza?
So, as you see in the video, the freezer/s have those pull out shelves which is a blessing and a curse as it causes you to lose a little space you'd have with static built in shelves. I measured and the pull out shelf is 12" x 12" (probably 12.2") so if you had a 12" pizza in a box that ended up being 13" wide, it wouldn't fit too well. If it was a pizza in a 12" box it would fit. Definitely not the roomiest freezer space. This fridge in general, as much as we love it, is one that I would not say works for everyone.
Awesome review! Really helped me to decide on purchasing this fridge! Thank you :)
Thanks! Glad it helped. Still love this fridge.
Hello. I just purchased this fridge. Are the shleves easy to take out for cleaning?
Well, they don't clean themselves unfortunately. But yeah, very easy to remove and clean!
Two years later, do you still like it?
Yep. Still love it! Still working great.
@@covacs02 I do believe that is what they are used for. Thank you for your quick response. The mystery has been solved!
Yep, all the shelves and baskets can be removed for cleaning.
@@hollywoodfrodo Thanks for your response. Appreciate it greatly.
Great simple yet detailed review. I’m buying this one for sure.
Thanks! We still love ours!
Hello I just busy this refrigerator but I don’t know why water pitchers not refill
Thank you
1) It is a setting that can be turned on/off so make sure it's turned on!
What washer dryer are you using? Thanks
In this video - LG - not sure what model. We don't have them anymore. About a year ago we got one of the new All-In-One Washer/Dryer Combos - We got the GE Profile one.
@@hollywoodfrodocool okay and thanks for that. How do you find the combo? I was concerned if one was to break.
Eric, thanks for the helpful and detailed response mate. Appreciated, off to check them out. Cheers 👍
Love it, you just sold me this fridge.
lol - well unfortunately I don't get any $$$ from Samsung for it! But I hope you enjoy it - still love mine!
This is happening to me and I'm pretty angry. I got it replaced and this one fills up super slow as well
How much space do you have on the top?
If i want to switch the flex side of the freezer, how long does it take to freeze/thaw before use?
I don't have the answer to that since we haven't done it ourselves. I would estimate no more than 24 hours, but probably a lot less since it's very efficient.
What is the measurement of the inside from the font opening to the back? I’m trying to decide if I want counter depth or the 29 cubic foot one.
Not 100% sure I understand what you're asking, but I think I do. The shelves are about 14" from front to back. But with the doors open, from the back of the fridge to the front opening is 20.5". I assume you realize that 6.5" difference is what houses the shelves built into the door when the door is closed...
@@hollywoodfrodo thank you so much! This helps a ton!
That is not "Sonic" ice, so many sites are saying this fridge makes Sonic pellet ice. Thanks for your review so I can see the ice up close.
Yeah, not at all soft pellet ice. These are just small ice cubes, which are great, but not the same thing as soft crunchy ice!
Can you shut off one of the ice trays and use it for storage?
Yikes. Not that I'm aware of...
What kind of noise?
I am not at all a professional in terms of diagnosing something like that. But I can say I have not experienced either of those things. Ours is still running great - we haven't had temperature issues and no weird noises to speak of.
Excellent review! Good camera work as well, so we get to see I. Detail what you’re talking about.👌
Thanks!
Where does thw ice come from the tap or does it has the tank inside?
The fridge hooks up to your existing water so it's all from the tap. It does have a filter to filter the water prior to it becoming ice or drinking water.
Can the ice maker be turned off to be used for additional storage?
Yes, it can.
How do you get the pitcher to fill with water in the beverages zone? Mine has yet to fill.
First, make sure the feature is turned on. You can do this in the settings menu inside the fridge, but easier to do in the SmartThings app if you have that connected to the fridge. Second, when you put the pitcher in there just make sure it clicks into place. Otherwise, it should just work.
Looking for another water filter cover. Do you know if they are selling any?
So, not the filter replacement, but the actual plastic cover that covers where the filter goes? I don't know - I would assume you might be able to get one from the Samsung Parts Replacement, but not something I've needed or looked into myself.
@@hollywoodfrodo Gotcha, thank for the response! 👍
How long does it take for the ice maker to make ice
Everyone ask that! After initial setup it seems to take forever, but once it gets going it's fine. I'd give it a day or two to amp up. Make sure you have the ice makers turned on!
Hi, has your ice maker started making ice consistently? I have had mine for about a month and half and ice production is very close.
Can you change the panels on the outside on this Samsung?
I don't think so. This is not the Bespoke version of the fridge, though they do have that.
Question, does the cooling off mode suppose to be on or off
I'm not sure what you mean by "cooling off mode" - I don't see that specific setting.
How is it working since then?
Still have it. Still love it! No issues.
I have no idea what compressor it uses - way more technical than me! :-) But we've had no problems so far and here's hoping it stays that way!
Can you please show how to remove shelf above drawer to clean…please😅
I’ve had it for a year and cannot find a single video on this specific one, it’s different because of where our water filter is 😅it’s bigger with a lid and all the other videos are like weird skinny ones haha
How is the fridge holding up?
Still running great!
Very helpful. We just got ours delivered today.
Enjoy!
Just got ours today and curious when the ice started to drop? Been about 4 hours and no ice yet
@@melissasmith2019 it took a while the first time. After that it seemed faster. I love our fridge. Have it a month.
@@melissasmith2019 What Nancy said! It seems to take a while at first (and don't forget those first several batches should be thrown out), but once it finally gets going, it keeps the bins full!
Thanks for this video, a couple of questions:
1) Can both doors open independently of each other? Can the left door be opened without opening the right door and vice versa?
2) Can you stop the jug in the beverage center from getting filled automatically?
3) How is customer support with Samsung? If something goes wrong?
Thanks!
1) Yes. You do not have to open both doors - you can just open the side you need to access.
2) Yes - in the settings. (Easier if you'e connected it to the SmartThings app - it's under refrigerator settings.)
3) I have not had to deal with them on this fridge.
@@buttercupthepug2010 Yes, just a tiny bit. I think that's due to the way they designed it to be super insulated when closed.
Which Samsung App? There seems to be more than several Samsung apps. TV, etc ???
Samsung SmartThings - it's a smart home app that also works with the Samsung Smart Product Hub and other Samsung devices.
Is the baverage center standard?
If by standard you mean is it the same on every Flex Refrigerator, then no, it is not. There are several different versions of the "beverage center." I believe some models come without the auto-fill pitcher.
Pitcher on refrigerator leaks and is a known manufacturing/design issue with Samsung. They supposedly redesigned a pitcher that does not leak, but refuse provide me with a replacement. Also replacement part was quoted as $157.99 plus shipping.
That sucks! Fortunately, we haven't had any issue with ours.
I’ve heard horror stories of the refrigerator temperature settings failing and spoiling food. What are your thoughts on this?
I can only speak from my own experience. We’re still using this fridge and still love it and haven’t experienced any temp setting issues.
How.long did it take you to get ice the first time? I'm 24 hours in and it will only make ice when I hit the test button?
Thx
Two things to note. First, the ice maker can be turned on/off. You can do it through the fridge's buttons, but easier if you have it connected to SmartThings to do it on the app. Either way, make sure it's turned on! Secondly, everyone seems to have the same issue - it starts slow. Once it gets going and your ice bins are full it's as fast as any ice maker, but initially it does seem to take forever for the bins to start filling up.

There is a water line in the back of the fridge that has to be hooked up to your house water system...
Does the fridge make ice quickly? I got one and it takes a very long time to make ice
I haven't noticed an issue - it seems like it took a long time at the beginning but once it got going, we always have ice. That being said, there are only two of us so we don't have 5 people eating ice all day long. But every time I go to get ice it's full.
Mine takes forever too bin never has more than a enough to cover the bottom of a bin.
I was told that only the family hub had the flexi fridge-frizer, is that correct?
Assuming you mean the bottom right section that can be a fridge or a freezer, mine has that and I do not have the family hub. They make many different versions of the 4 Door Flex so you do have to pay close attention. I believe the family hub version is only available with the fridge/freezer flex section. The non family hub versions (there are many) have it both with and without. Also some versions do not have the full beverage center and the dual ice maker. You have to look closely at the specs of the exact models to make sure they have everything you want.
@@hollywoodfrodo I have the flex and did not want the family hub so our front look like yours and is plain.
Nicely done review. Thanks!!!!!
Mahalo for watching!
Hi just bought an open box one and it's missing the top left and top right bin from the fridge section. Could you send me your part numbers so I can order them?
I don't see part numbers on there anywhere. I can tell you the top right is the same as the middle right. Top left is different for sure - smaller shorter.
We are considering this fridge and wondering if we'll miss crushed ice, or find it a pain to open the door every time we want ice. Thank you!
@@hollywoodfrodo Gotcha. We are snagging one today. Thanks for the detailed review!
I have the same fridge but the pitcher has no water do we need to set something for the autofill to work
It is a feature that can be turned on/off so my guess would be it's currently turned off.
@@hollywoodfrodo thank you , i found it
