my 90 year old grandfather got a phone call from a scammer saying he had virus on his computer so he kept them on the phone for over an hour…then he told them “i’ve never owned a computer” and hung up. i miss him so much
I kept a scammer on the phone 2 hours with how to get a virus off of a windows computer and then I was like " wait you said this is regarding my windows computer?" When they said yes I came back with " silly me! I have a MacBook!" Talking pissed off! My daughter and I both live to double team them!
I have done this before. Unknowingly, I was dealing with a scammer, sounded like an Indian accent. At first I was a little scared, being 72 years old and not very savvy with technology. But after a while I knew what was up. So, I continued to be hopeless and he continued to try to scam me. This went on for awhile and finally I must have broken his spirit because he hung up on me. I really enjoyed the fact that because I was older he thought he could trick me. Best time, and I smile when I think of it.
It’s my father in laws favorite extracurricular activity 😂 He gets so excited when one calls.. he’ll keep them on the line as long as possible and put on my super thick kentucky accent he’s had to hear me speak for 24 years. He’s got it down pretty good. He’s done it since my husband and I started dating in high school on their landline. Use to be on landline they couldn’t hang up once someone answered unless you hung up so he’d answer the phone wait to be connected and then lay the landline phone next to the radio in the garage and play the same tom petty song over and over 😂 You can’t do it like that anymore they’ll hang up if they even suspect they can’t squeeze a cent out of you.

I'm so happy I have knowledge about these scams and thank you for sharing this knowledge. Today at work an older woman came into my work and I could clearly hear the scammer on the other end of the phone. She was looking at eBay gift cards and brought one up to the counter. I looked at her and whispered to her and told her to mute herself on the phone. I looked at her and asked her what company was thean from and she said a bank and then told me she was getting a loan for 70,000 dollars. I told her it was a scam and that if it was really her bank then they would handle it on their own without the eBay card. She was shocked and told me thank you for helping her. She left without the card and all of her money. I've always seen these scams in your video I never thought I would encounter them in real life. Thank you for your hard work and I'm happy to know I made a difference no matter how small! 🖤
At least a scammer can try to be respectful and patient since they're trying to steal from you without you knowing. That's what gives them away and I know they're trying to scam me and make me feel guilty for being not being cooperative.

They hate Americans so much, they even have a hard time being decent when they're scamming us. I read an article, when they transition Indians from the normal call center to the secret one to scam, they ask "Do you have any misgivings or problems with stealing from the Americans?" The ones they choose tend to hate Americans, and their hatred shows through.
Basically they've shut down all conscience and sense of decency. They've shut themselves down so it enables them to carry on scamming people and live their life and tell themselves it's ok.

My mother got her first computer at 84. A few months after that, I got a scam call from a guy claiming to be from Microsoft who had detected a virus on my computer. I told him that was nonsense because I know for a fact that Microsoft does NOT call customers to tell them about viruses. I learned that lots of people in my area were getting this call and called my mother, warning her not to fall for it. She told me "I already had that call last week." I asked her what she'd done. She laughed and said "I told him I didn't have a computer!". Good old mom! She knew very little about computers at that point - and never did learn a great deal about them - but I suppose she still knew something was off with that call.
If you question them about that kind of stuff, they'll say some random excuse like "Our account is locked because you typed too many zeros and we cannot transfer it back. You need to give us the money another way"
@shadowdragon1015 Exactly…would be cool if he used that line, or better yet, tell the scammer you’re keeping the credit, since he’s being so rude. And I’m not even sure if any of this is real, bcuz what scammer is going to send a victim to have a face to face with his bank, to pull out a credit that the banker will see doesn’t exist?!? @@chetanm3394 very good advice! Imagine if the parents of these scammers were to know the truth about how their living decimated others? I know about the culture a little bit. I'm sad for the victims and the families of the perpetrators.
My scammer sounded American. I knew better than to cooperate, but they caught me off guard with a text asking if I'd made a $ amount transaction at Walmart. Even while I was being stupid and cooperating, I wasn't trusting, and kept sending my bank message after message through my banking app. By the time they called, after having seen all the messages, he had hung up - but it was quick enough that the guy got nothing (not that there was much there; he seemed disappointed and asked when I was going to go into the bank to make another deposit). She reset my password, disabled my debit card. I emailed her the urls I was sent to. Luckily, I have no credit (hate debt, so never got into that), so they can't buy anything on my credit any more than I could the couple of times I gave in to the temptation to try it.
@@mantasignatavicius1964 "Wait, what, how you shot? You watch gun safety channels and you still got shot?" Scams can be so, _so_ much more complex then the one demonstrated in the video.
They are garbage people....I never let them go the distance. My first question is : "are you phoning from the Call Center?" A "yes" will prompt me to terminate the conversation. If it is not from some call center, I ask them to give me their social insurance or other ID information and inform them that I will certainly consider their business after a thorough check. My other method is that I ask them to mail me all relevant information together with the accreditations of themselves and their company. I will sometimes tell them that I conduct no business of any kind over the phone under any circumstances and ask if they have an issue with that.
Makes my blood boil hearing how he uses foul language without remorse to an “elderly caller”. There’s no way those people have respect for their own elders or for those in their own household. Almost diabolical.
Thanks for getting my payback for me! I got scammed once and had to reload my computer, but I stopped them before they got any information. God bless you for doing this. We need about 1 million more of you.
The scammer also threatened to take all the money from his bank, credit etc, when SP already said he took all the cash out and the teller said 'come back and bank with us again' (or something). So how could he take money from an account that had no money in it. Now that's a stupid scammer. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Let's say you're 80 and not quick-witted anymore. It's easy to see how people can be tricked. They already "hacked" your PC and can control it. They've manipulated your bank account, they talk aggressively and quick to confuse you even more than you already are. They gaslight you to high heaven and no matter how illogical it sounds, they are already in too deep that the victim cant be broken from the scam. It is a whole pile of worms to try to convice the victim that they're being scammed or to convince yourself you're being scammed once you're too deep. The only reason you see this is because he's acting like one of these of victims. You can say how dumb it all sounds all you want, but it's easy to trick elderly people. Especially the ones who are before the times of technology and computers. The majority of people know this is all scam behavior. That's why the scammers hook the weakest minded victims. You can make thousands of bad calls a week. Yet, you only need 1 single person to fall prey, and you've made up for all those bad calls in the month. That's why these scams are so prevelant. Your success rate can be less than 1%, and you'll still come out on top.
As an Indian , I am very ashamed of them , why can't they work normally....stealing someone hard work money ....I don't think their parent taught them that . Even I think now if you guys get call from someone having Indian accent ..just hung up .
I used to get calls from Indian scammers trying to get me to sign up for medicaid or extend my car warranties. I was getting 4-5 calls a day until I started to curse the people that called.
The real confusion for me comes when they say that they can take out money from your bank account but they still require that you give them the money
Indian logic is confusing, but lying is meant to confuse.

By the time they called, after having seen all the messages, he had hung up - but it was quick enough that the guy got nothing (not that there was much there; he seemed disappointed and asked when I was going to go into the bank to make another deposit). the scammer isn't making sense. He threatens to take all the victim's money if the victim doesnt go to the bank to take out the money.
If he can take it all, he can obviously take the "overpayment" instead. I'm not sure why this doesn't occur to anyone.
Keep in mind the main people who are targeted are the elderly who don't really know what is happening.
