As a financial advisor one of the scams we keep coming across with our older clients is them receiving phone calls stating one of their grandkids is in jail and they need to pay their bail. It amazes me that they never check with their son or daughter to confirm this. But it's why we always ask our clients why do you need some money, I just want to make sure you're not being scammed. It's also why we do not take any instructions over email or voicemail
That happend to my grandparents a while ago right after i left their house one day from visiting, i very rarely see them and it was odd timing, i wondered if they somehow knew i was there and left at that time?
This scam happened to my late step-mother who was in the process of sending $7,500 cash but told the postal rep she was sending cash and they said that is not legal. So my step-mother went home with cash worried I was in jail in another state. She was lucky but other victims are not.
If they actually had been arrested they probably wouldn't be allowed to use their mobile phones. The victims understand that due to the circumstances they can't contact the family member who's in trouble. Obviously the scammer pushes the point aggressively, threatening to hurt the victim's relative if they don't cooperate and stay on the phone as well. Scammers know that the victim knows there's a chance that they're lying, so they'll raise the stakes until the victim feels like they'd be taking too much of a risk to ignore the scammer. It's one thing if you think your family member is in legal trouble, it's another if you think the cops are dirty and holding them hostage. They're preying on what people don't know and using that to manipulate them. Imagine if your family member was in a life or death situation and you decided that the person who called you was a scammer, and as a result of your inaction the person was seriously hurt or killed. Obviously that's extremely unlikely, but it's such an extremely unpleasant thought that it affects some people's better judgement.
Man, you are a unique positive force in society. Scamming the elderly is plain evil. I wish I had the computer skills to do what you do. Keep up the good work and I hope you can monetize more from your work. You deserve it.

@@Pepesmallit's crazy that people still don't notice this is suspicious when this has been the main form of scam payment since the invention of the redeemable giftcard. Once upon a time scammers actually had to convince people to mail them cash, and also had to maintain a covert post box if they're operating locally. It's ridiculous that gift cards are still legal when they provide zero utility to anybody trying to make legitimate purchases. It's clear to anyone with a brain that a gift of cash is infinitely more useful than a gift card. Besides scammers, they also benefit major retail chains (who don't need the easy win) when the recipient inevitably fails to redeem the card in full before it expires. We really don't need them to exist.
Walmart Gift cards???? You would have known... if not... lol wow. I mean, I had "Joseph Smith" a "Police Officer in the IRS" from the State of Washington DC who was going to have me arrested for tax evasion if I didn't pay some over-due taxes with Walmart Credit cards. I said, no, you found me, remember? It was then that I had to bust out laughing... I couldn't hold it any longer...

It happened to my mom.
My grandmother got one of these. Thankfully she was savvy enough to try to call me before she sent the money.
Man, you are a unique positive force in society. Scamming the elderly is plain evil. I wish I had the computer skills to do what you do. Keep up the good work and I hope you can monetize more from your work. You deserve it.

They really thought that made sense? Buying gift cards for anything legitimate?
I was 50 at the time, and I really just sat back and had fun with that, giving him an invalid SSN (not even enough digits in it) and listen to him as he looked me up and found me and said that I owed $8,000 in back taxes.... then about 4 hours into it he realized there wasn't enough digits in the SSN I gave him, and he was like, wait, you gave me the wrong SSN. I said, no, you found me, remember? It was then that I had to bust out laughing... I couldn't hold it any longer...

Are you sure you are watching the same people? Or are you lazy law enforcement trying to make amoral argument knowing full well the watchers never watch their own behaviors.
@@JimJimmington-e8i Making the point that none of the evidence they collect is admissible in court, so they are probably doing more harm than good when it comes to actually getting a conviction.
@@lfcbpro Are you from India? Can you share the local laws surrounding this? Once done with that, can you tell me what police in India ACTUALLY do?
I will wait.
I love watching the scammers in tears

Wow a brit actually using the word brilliant correctly, nothing more annoying than someone calling a cup of tea brilliant, or sayin massive and proper more than a 16 yr old says like

Your statement is garbage hyperbole at best. There are scammers in every single country around the world..Don't be obtuse.
Two absolute legends! I adore you both entirely too much. I am a victim of these type of people. They cleared me out! Thank you so much for what you are doing!
Oh gosh, seeing these two get into action, then troll the agent was mindblowing.
Bro your videos are so funny! Keep up the work.
Idk but this sounds very Indian😅
Why is this so very satisfying to watch.
That scammer freaking out when you revealed her location was prime comeuppance. Taste of her own medicine. Way to go, Pierogi!
Great work SP team. Regards from South Africa. A popular scam here is that Nigerians or Congolese lookup ID numbers to see who is 60 or older (easy confused targets), and sell them something or try to hack into their online banking apps.
Love you from India keep smashing scammers❤
17:08 Lady got spooked! I love it!
It is truly shameful to witness such crimes as an Indian. I have personally suffered due to these criminals, and the root cause lies in our poor law and order system, as well as corrupt and criminal politicians who are the main culprits. Implementing strong laws is extremely challenging within such a complex system, where these criminals often have the upper hand by exploiting loopholes in the system.
