This was so helpful - it really was the key to adjusting the shocks. I would have never figured this out on my own. I put the Koni 8040-1217Sports on my Z3 and in the lowest level of adjustment, I thought they let the car feel a little under damped. Tightening front and rears half way made a noticeable improvement and the car rides and handles great. Thanks again.
Cheers buddy, I've just bought the red adjustable and Yes I agree the instructions are rubbish, Do I put that plastic washer back ? Are the set to their softest from factory ? Thanks
hi the instructions do not even mention how to push out the black bump stop. i received the dampers today but i cannot push out the black rubber bump stop. are they really inside the shock? i only have the white thin plastic washer. the model I have is 80 2522Sport for e30
@@fredsshed266 yes. that is what i did exactly. that rubber got stuck inside i have to use a wire to push it down. that koni instruction did not even mention this at all. terrible!
The strange things is that behaviour at full hard is there and a little bit of turn from that becomes normal and working again in hands, even with big dampening force. I thinked of this as an anomaly because is seems totally blocked on full H, and operating again even at a slight turn from from full H.

I have the same style of adjustment for a Mazda, I couldn't figure the instructions out either, thanks for posting this!
Man, thnx for posting this. shortest clearest instructions on this ever!

Yes, put the plastic washer back. I can't remember where they're set, but full clockwise is stiffest, and anti-clockwise is softest.
I bought Koni yellows for my Prelude and you turn the removable dial at the top of the shock,way easier than this.
Is there like a stop to them or they just keep on going ?
@@toeknee6931 there is a stop
So is it clockwise for softest or hardest? It isnt clear ..
Clockwise firmer, anti clockwise softer
@fredsshed266 thanks.
When you've adjusted and found the sweet spot does the shock extend again? It looks like it's staying compressed in the video

Shine a light up the tube and you should see it. I had the same problem

Hi! When on full hard, does it become impossible to pull out by hand? Mine two does that strange thing, so leaved half from full hard.
They're stiff when in your hand (oo-er) but certainly liveable on the road. (I'm in the Fens, which has the worst roads).

Thank you! Their instructions are awful and their online vids are worse.
