I watched all 3 nights livestream. I was extremely happy with the feed. I didn't hate the sound. I have seen much worse. Volume does a good job. I could swear I heard a Stephen Stills song. Was that the boys kickin' you in the ribs? Haha. Best version ever. You guys smoked that tune. Heavy..... on the humble....(stuck in my head). I hope you stream the Chicago gig. All of you guys were fucking awesome!
@@501chorusecho Sound was ordinary ( I watched all the shows ) unfortunately, the Nashville gigs sound was unbelievably good those shows set a high benchmark for what a livestream gig should look and sound like.
I watched the Nov 20 gig, incredible performances by everyone. I thought the livestream mix was quite good. Nice going on snagging that J45, you make it sound fantastic.
Larry my man, that is the most beautiful arrangement of Hard Candy Christmas!!! Tears a flowin' You got me on that one!! Absolutely nailed Dolly's vocal part with the High E and B string pull offs!!..and the bass work!! So full, rich and dynamic! Thank u!!! That made my day.
I’ve listened to Dolly and Hard Candy Christmas several times now, and yes she is perfect to sing this song! But what listening to this really emphasized for me is just what an amazing guitarist you are! When you can play that song, that way, on that gorgeous old Gibson (that tone is *priceless* - what a treasure !!), you don’t really need a singer! You have captured all of the beauty, and the emotion, and all of the nuances of Dolly’s vocal performance in the way you essentially play two parts simultaneously. That is pure magic Tom! I can’t listen to that enough. You are a true gift to all of us. Thank you for sharing. What a beautiful way to start my day! PS - Next time you see Vince, you’ll have to pull out that old treasure and let him play it. You may have to wrestle him to get it back. It strikes me as being right up his alley too. 🥰🥰
Maaan oh man was seeing u guys life friggin changing!! I was there on the second night, I was the closest dude to u the whole night standing, I hung out with your friend from Florida, I love u and Guthrie so damn much…I’ll never forget the whole night and every little detail and especially the words u said to me “yea man why not, everybody else did why shouldn’t u??” About moving to Nashville. You could have said anything else but without hesitation at all, that was your reply. I went back home and booked my first ever trip, air bnb paid for, ticket bought for your 3rd and Lindsley gig and I’m road tripping it down so I can have my car to check out the area. I can’t wait man, thank u so much 😢 ✊🎸🙏🏼
Congrats on the new (old) J45 Tom, it sounds amazing. I was fortunate to be sitting right up front at the Wednesday night show and absolutely loved every second of it. To see that incredible lineup of talented musicians in such an intimate venue was an experience I will never forget, and I really appreciate you and the other guys taking a moment to shake my hand and say hi after the show. Thanks!
Thanks for making it out to NYC, Tom! Meant the world to me to shake your hand and get a picture after riding the homeskoolers' bus for the past few years. Even for the non-homeskoolers, brought my girlfriend out to the show and she thought you guys were so fun and down-to-earth. Guthrie, Tim, Jordan, Nicky G, Jedd, Jimmy, and you are such a badass group! Also, the sweetest group of guys. East Coast loves you guys.
One of the coolest hidden gem songs. I cried when I first heard it. Song written by the wonderful Carol Hall. Met her once and was as sweet as that song.
Thank you! I caught the show Wednesday night and it was one of the best nights of live music I've seen in years. Feel lucky to have been there you all put on a helluva show.
Sonically, the bitter end show i attended was a tonejunkie’s paradise! My first comment on your channel but I’ve been hooked since your Rig Rundown with John Bohlinger at Blackbird Studio. I wanted to say “thank you.” Your videos inspire and teach me and make me laugh. And that new guitar sounds fantastic!
My bro and I went to night 3. Whata freak'in great time we had. To simply put it, you guys sounded AWSOME! Talk 'bout good vibrations and Yuengling at the bar to boot! Thanks again to everyone in the band for such a memorable night.
Thanks for taking a pic with me on Thursday Larry. Highlight of my year seeing you guys in person! Also, just got a '61 J45, so I appreciate this intro a lot
Tom, thanks so much. This is one of my favorite of all songs. Not just Christmas songs but one of my favorite songs of all time. My wife and I saw Dolly a few years ago and I can’t believe I waited so long to enjoy her concert. When hard Candy Christmas comes on the radio and I’m driving… I know to just pull over because I’ll be a sobbing mess in the next minute or two. The story paints a real picture of the difficult situations we all have to pass through while others around us or smiling. Merry Christmas and thanks for all you do.
Hey Tom, great to hang with you on Tuesday. The show was epic. The fun and joy you guys exuded on stage was awesome. More than worth the trip up from Baltimore! So glad you got the Gibson at TR Crandall. Sounds amazing! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. 🍗🎸🐶
That guitar sounds incredible!! What crisp, clear tones. And that tune is beautiful …. What a beautiful way to start off my day over my morning coffee!! Thank you!!
Listening to one of the posted vids from the show, of your awesome new blues tune, man, you could hear a pin drop in that room. That's audience engagement! You cats slayed!
I love it when you play acoustic, it sounds really good even when filtered through your phone, the internet, and my TV speakers. I wish I could play mine more often but I live in an apartment with complaining neighbors, so I have to stick mostly to electric with headphones. ... Love Dolly and think her best stuff was with Porter Wagoner and her early solo sides. Amazing voice, amazing woman.
I listened to this through headphones and that guitar sounds incredible Tom. Watched all 3 nights of the livestream. The sound wasn't that bad and you guys were amazing. I looking for to The Bitter End on a future record! Cheers
Hey Tom! I was the guy in the beatles shirt on the third night. Can’t thank you enough for the music and the humility. Got to say hi to you and Jedd, and man you guys blew the roof off the place. Now I just got to see yall in Nashville. Btw your Senn Strat tone was otherworldly from the first row.
Thanks, Unc! Glad you made it back home all safe and sound. Nothing like the Session Man getting back from a gig and wanting to keep playing. Inspirational. Congrats on the new guitar- it sounds great! Caught a few videos from folks in the audience. Some simply amazing playing. Be good to you 🙏🏻🤍
Though only enjoyed it over streaming it was great to hear/see you all live. Beside the music, what had me smiling ear to ear was seeing just how much you all were having fun. Tom, your smile just lights up a stage. And this J-45, even over TH-cam sounds exceptional, and apparently its been like reuniting with a long lost friend.
Man..that j45 sounds incredible. Thats a recorder guitar. Brian's gonna freak out over that guitar. It's sure nice that you give such high praise to the great songs and great artists like Dolly. That's a classy thing to do.
I watched the 1st night's show and listened on my laptop with a pair of bluetooth connected Bose wireless headphones, and I thought the sound of the band on the livestream was just fine. I thought the show was a bit slow getting momentum going but picked up quickly and ended really strong with a lot of energy. It was hard to hear the audience reaction to the song performances, and I guessed that maybe the room just wasn't miked up to pick up the audience reaction in response to the music. I certainly was glad I bought the ticket to the livestream as it's really a bargain for those of us in other parts of the country wanting to hear some of the best in the business. I'm very appreciative.
Without vocals the intro today reminded me of a perfect opening 80’s family sitcome theme song until you pointed out what it really was. I wish I could have been at the bitter end, very intimate place to see you play, seeing some fan videos it looked like you went into another dimension on “The Window”. I loved it when you said “how long was I out”. You’re a rare talent of such I have not seen since Jeff Beck! and us home skoolers are so lucky you take the time to share your talent and wisdom with us.

I thought I recognized that opening tune, but I couldn't place it. Superb playing & what a beautiful sound on such a wonderful old instrument.
