I was thinking that the site wasn't being updated due to covid, but your video showed that I need to be looking for a 29" version of a bike if I want to buy L or XL. Huge help, thanks brother.
Just bought one 3 days ago. 27.5” medium model. Like it so far. I ride about 15-20 miles a day. The forks and the clutch on the derailer make it seem like a one size fits all sorta thing. A veritable Swiss Army knife of bikes sorta speak. Chain fell off once on a curb jump so I do like that clutch feature. It should be used as a standard default if you’re an aggressive rider imo.

Last year, i bought one from, ' Tiso ', it's my, ' posing on a warm dry day ' bike. It was £640, down from 800. Very nice. Im only 5' 7" so this large size frame seems too big, but it's not, and once you turbo it, on the flat......its fast, solid, recommended.
Bought one 2nd hand, with dropper post and tubeless setup, including cushcore tyre insert in rear. Pretty happy with it, but the SX derailleur doesn't like changing down under load. Could need a professional tuning, but things like that should be in anyone's scope. Coming from the road to mtb beginner, I've used this bike in two 4 hr XC marathon events, earning the D-grade podium. Good value overall, steady hardtail.
From what I know it isn’t good to shift gears while the drivetrain is under load in general. Even well tuned drivetrains will still make that horrible crunching sound if you shift them under load.

Just grab one yesterday mint green29er out the door 860$worth every penny!
Hi Meng...I see you've had the Expert for a year now. Does this bike still hold up alright? Is there any Pros and cons to this beautiful looking bike? Thanks in advance.
In the specs at Specialized website, the travel in the fork is said to be size specific, but it does´nt say what it is for the size small bike - does anyone know?
80mm
Does anyone know any online website? I've been looking for this bike and can't find it anywhere 😥
They are only available locally, Specialized does not ship bikes. Check with your local bike shop
I had to drive an hour to find mine. Well worth it though because the place I got it has so many trails to ride
Now I’m mad I got the 2020 Rockhopper Expert 1X.....
Hey there were always be something newer and better in the future no matter what you get. Enjoy the bike you have cuz you're riding it rather than waiting for the new one to be available
Wish thru-axles would trickle down. Trek Marlin 7 looks like a bit better of a value, but I guess it comes down to the 12 speed SX groupset.
Cant decide on my first mtb to buy! Should i go for this same bike or Trek roscoe 7 or Trek x-caliber 8? Please help me decide. Im a beginner and cant decide!
Roscoe if you can swing it
Yeah...I'm a trek fan, but Trek bikes in my area are on back order till fall...
Does the fork have a tapered steer tube?
No it doesn't
What is better for wheelie? I pretty much only ride streets and wheelie... 27.5 or 29?
27.5
Marin bobcat trail 3 (2020) or Specialized rockhopper comp (2021). I will be using road, trails but only occasionally will be off road. Which is the better bike? Thanks
I’d go for the specs that fit you best.
@@lukegrady5357 Thanks but that's what I need help with? Which is best.
Specialized 👍🏼
@Zoro357 That's more than I want to pay
Hey i have a question I’m just getting into the sport and don’t know what bike is better for me should I get the trek marlin 7 2021 priced at 839 or the specialized rockhopper comp 1x priced at 750 thanks
My experience with the Marlin line isn’t great and many people I know enjoy there specialized hard tails so probably that
Specialized offers a great value. They’ve been manufacturing mountain bikes for more than 45 years. Giveaway others, buy Specialized. 🍀
What colour is the frame?
what is the size of frame?
Cool video. Great Guide on the expert. I just purchased the specialized Elite rockhopper 29 mountain bike and it rides real nice
do you know how much travel the S sizes will have?
80mm
Would you recommend this bike or the Trek Roscoe 6 for trail riding?
This over a Roscoe 6. But really check out the base Specialized Fuse
Jamesthebikeguy this or marlin 7?
Amazing. How can it weight 13.5 Kg? Is it a better aluminum than the basic rockhopper model?. Thanks for the Answer. Great video
Same aluminum, much much nicer components. By percentage the frame will not make up much of a difference in the overwall weight compared to changes in everything else.
It ways the same as a trek marlin 4 witch has a coil fork and a 3x honestly not that impressive
25mm wide rims, no dropper.
This is what my grandma bought me for my b-day.
Do you know what is the weight of the basic rockhopper 2020?
Greetings from Veracruz, Mexico
I don't but here is the video on the New Base Rockhopper th-cam.com/video/RVUww7M1hWQ/w-d-xo.html
Is this bike considered a boost rear axle?
This is standard 135mm QR
I jus ordered this bike it’s my first bike will it be ok to ride on the road or is this just for off road?
London England you can ride any bike on road but the knoby tires will slow you down a little bit but the 29 inch wheels might make up for that. So it can pretty much do anything.
@@scottyboy2484 thank you I really appreciate your info. I’ve never owned a bike before this is my first do you think it was a good choice for £1000? Or could I have got better deal buying something else I’m 6foot3 100kg and will be mostly on road and occasionally on a trail I won’t be doing any jumps apart from hopping on and off pavements.
Hey guys, I'm considering in buying a new bike, I have checked this one, the specialized chisel 2019, the Scott scale 965 and the trek roscoe 7. Which of those is the most recommended, thank you
Roscoe 7, or specialized fuse
Nicely Explained
Thanks!
I’ve got the 2021 rockhopper comp 29 coming in the mail
Awesome!
I’ve got the 2021 Rockhopper Comp 1x. Love my bike.
@@Jamesthebikeguy please weight of trek supercaliber 9.7!!!
Where can I go to buy this bike online? on all pages is out of stock, could you help me? Thank you
@@Jamesthebikeguy i bought the rockhopper comp 2020 model 2 weeks a go to start learning MTB already need to up grade to something better any tips, was thinking the fuse but not sure how strong it will be doing big drops onto hard flat surfaces ?
how much cost
Disappointing to see they didn't include thru-axles on the redesign.
Considering the bike goes all the way down to $500 its pretty expected. The Expert RH fits right where the Fuse begins, and that bike comes with thru-axles
Also what is the price?
Check with your local bike shop.
@@Jamesthebikeguy :/
Nice.. same specs with my CUBE Analog 2020 (except the fork)
I got this buy for the price good components for a small price do you think well be enough for an amateur mountainbiker I'm not a beginner bot still not a pro
Nice, enjoy the riding.
Can you change the 30t crank to 44t ?
Not sure if it would clear the chainstay.
Looking to get one used , any good website you may recommend?
Facebook Marketplace
@@Jamesthebikeguy thanks !
does it have a tapered headtube?
Straight 1-1/8"
Mine is on order through my local shop sky blue med 29 can’t wait but hope it comes before August lol
Hope so too, congrats on the pre-order!
Hello. Do you have a link for this bike?
Nice bike BUT no more hardtail for me . I got a taste of full squish and there is no looking back. Thanks for content
Lol, full suspension sure is a treat
Weight?
Just picked this bike up
Awesome 👍
How would this perform everyday on the road? Will there be enough gear offerings?
Buy a roadie then....smh
