A lot of references to 20s in the comments. Joplin died in 1917. I believe his last composition ( Magnetic Rag ) was written in 1914 . This music sits majestically between classical and jazz and is utterly distinct and unique ( if its played at the right speed which thankfully it is on these lovely recordings )
He composed many more pieces after magnetic rag, all of which are now lost to time, with he exemption of a 30 second found fragment that dates to around 1916.
[1:48] Book: Hey, what's that thing we're all battling for? Tennis Ball: Wait, you actually don't know? Book: No, I really wish I did! Firey: Wow! Book: What?! Firey: I always thought you were well-read! Ha, get it? Book: And I always thought you were warm! (BFDIA intro) Book: So, what are we battling for? Tennis Ball: Dream Island! Book: Dream Island? That sounds like a disease! Tennis Ball: Well, it's not. To quote the gray faceless robot, a whole square mile of paradise, blah blah blah, and the winner even gets to come in and who doesn't! Book: Hey, that sounds great! Well, if it weren't for all the blah blah blahs. Thanks for telling me TB, now I feel well-informed! Tennis Ball: You mean well-read! HYUK HYUK!
It sounds brilliant, where is number 5? I've heard the rest and I can't believe how good he was, did his music play in any silent films back in the 1920/300 ?
Scott siempre te amaré TU haces mi vida extraordinaria GRACIAS.

Fantastic! There's more than two years that can't hear anytinhg else in my headfone! Want it to be played in my burrying day!
Scott Joplins New Rag is the most
sophisticated of the lot.
Other musicians must have heard that
and upped their game.
