Good review and straight to the point. You covered so many important details. So many reviews yap about nothing, this was the exact opposite! And definitely agree that the adizero sl 1 lightstrike puck feels dead rather quickly
Got the SL2. Just had my first run in it yesterday. I'm just a jogger who runs at 'blistering' pace of 8.30/km 🤭 and enjoy all the different foam tech from various companies. My money, my shoe, my pace hehe 😂
Got the OG sl the other day since was cheap for 70. Hate them. First the insoles curl in and edges gave me blisters on my arches after just the first 3 miles. The inner arch supports push the stiff insoles up and digs them into my arches. Only had this problem in just one other shoes before - NB SC elites, but those had much bouncier better softer midsoles which made the insoles stick up because feet sank into the foam so, were almost excusable in the NBs. Not in these. The SL feel like stiff styrofoam so can’t excuse them. Don’t like the shallow rocker and in combo with the stiff midsole makes the shoes feel like mini bricks. And after just 5 miles, I can feel the midsoles breaking in, and my feet sinking into them, which I found I really dislike, because it feels like the shoes are already losing their bounce after just 1 short 5 mile jog. And the sink in feel makes the blister problem worse mile after mile. Makes the shoes feel like old beaters already. Laces are too short for runners loop lock(needs 2 more inches/inch on either end), and why are the laces so thin??? and still couldn’t get a satisfactory heel lock-in maybe because of the over padded heel? No continental rubber tho admittedly yes, they seem to be wearing well and grip seems satisfactory though not great. In comparison, puma velocities were $60 on sale, $10 less. Much better sock like fit with knit like upper and no stiff midsole on the pumas = no break in needed = stretchy upper with much better toe spread which helps my metatarsalgia. The SL uppers are stiff and toe spread is minimal, so pinches the nerves more between the toe bones= metatarsalgia. Pumagrip outsole rubber that is 100% better outsole - comparable to the continental rubber on more expensive adidas models, which adidas cheaped out on and didn’t include in the sl. Puma grips feel like contact cement on all surfaces wet or dry; can’t say that for the sl’s which feel like they’ll lose grip in the rain. Not sure I can trust the sl outsole in the rain on granite tiled city sidewalks. Surprised to find even SL2 doesn’t have continental?? Seems like adidas penny pinching customers. Pumas have much softer bouncier midsoles = No sharp edges on insoles and hence no blisters. Puma velocities all day every day for me. Was so disappointed in these SLs. Found out SL stands for super light- well, how come they feel like bricks??? Puma nitro midsoles don’t need a break in either and always feel bouncy mile after mile - have deviate nitros with ~300 miles that still feel 80% new in bounce. No sink in old shoe feel after just 5 measly miles like the SLs. I thought adidas were heavy competitors to pumas since founding, cause the brothers feuded - but there’s no comparison for me. Before getting these, Wanted to try the boston 12s cause all the hype, but the blisters tell me NO. Haven’t hated any shoes as much as this since my old brooks ghost 15’s lost grip in the rain and gave me a bad foot sprain that lasted 3 months. Hate the little triangle elf ear pulls on the heels too. Why they couldn’t just put loops like every other sane shoe company?? Awful shoes. Only way I could wear these again will be moleskinning or bandaiding my arches. Feels like I threw $70 into fire. Have had $20 counterfeit shoes that were far more comfy.
Totally understandable. I think that the SL's are a very acquired taste haha They are VERY firm but I enjoy the stability of the midsole especially when running slowly! Puma grip is absolutely insane and I'm glad you found a shoe that works for you!
I have the Sl2 and the Puma velocity 2.... Velocity midsole is firmer than the SL2...especially in the heel..i found the SL2 too soft in the heel out of the box.....SL2 is lighter and you can pick up the pace a little quicker than the velocity..and have raced a decent 10km time in them but being a heavier runner they bottom out not much after 10km....Velocity are a little heavier but i find them better for longer runs..Puma grip is a little better than the SL2 but not by much....Sl2 is almost a completely different shoe from the original SL...Both Puma Velocity and SL2 are both great shoes at an even better price...i tend to reach for the SL2 most days over the Velocity as i really enjoy the upper fit ....If i had to be pushed to pick one of them it would likely be the Velocity and that would be because the longevity of the Velocity is better than the SL2...both are great shoes though....dont make the mistake thinking the SL2 is anything like the SL though...because it isn't.
I’ve run up to a 25 mile run in the SL’s. They are not the most comfortable or fastest shoes, but I felt supported through the whole run and recovered quickly!
@@riefzetyo5646 Yes, because you can run half marathons and even marathons on any type of shoe. But is not a confortable shoe for that distance, you have better options for that. This SL and SL2 are intended to be daily trainers.
I personally didn’t run 32km in the SL2 as i prefer wider based shoe like the SL1. Long runs past 32km were good in the SL1 for me personally but they definitely lack “pop” or “plushness”. It’s a firm stable ride but my body feels fine after so i can’t complain! It’s just not the most fun shoe to run in and hard to run fast and long in them

Appreciate the kind words. If Adidas made the SL1 with the SL2 cushioning, it would be my favorite daily hands down!
I ordered the SL2 but I am also getting another pair of the OG SL on sale because I really enjoyed running in them.
Thanks for such an interesting comparison!!! Did need it!
Appreciate your support!
Good comparison. I just ordered the SL2 as my one shoe for my upcoming vacation. I'm only 135 lbs. so I think it's a better choice for me.
Let’s goo, i hope you love the SL2’s! Enjoy your vacation.

SL2 also available in wide version.. do you want to try and review it someday
maybe in the future but i’m prioritizing different models at the moment!
im fond of wider shoes. do you think if they release a wide version like they did with the og sl i should cop? great video btw
if they release a wide SL2, im copping too 😂
Can these shoes handle a 32km LSD run, and how do your feet or legs feel after running beyond 30km?"
