IFBB PRO JAMES HOLLINGSHEAD YES MATE ! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ! Your huge and gonna be a problem for all the guys!!! The U.K. needs the next Dorian Yates 🇬🇧 Im 42 and been a body building fan since Dorian won his first mr O ! I’ve no dreams of ever posing or compitng! But have a decent base . I’m gonna follow your advice ! Let’s see ???🤔good luck mate 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪🤜
@@hollingshead89 your form is fantastic. I haven't seen someone like you in a while. Big as fuck, shredded util the bone and with a fantastic body composition. You re the Goat right now.
Great to hear I’ve now started weighing food did my preps yesterday, I even had all the correct meals all last week. I didn’t have any bad foods last week at all 👍🏻 I’m 43 and not doing this for shows but more for myself and my mind. Haven’t felt so good in years and your advice is boosting me. Thank you and keep up the effort.
Ive only quite recently started removing fats from my pre work out meal as before had it in my head that I need to have those fats so to slow down my other macros going into training and not burn through them. But then digestion become an issue waiting ages for food to digest before working out as seemed to be going from feeling full to feeling hungry with a very small window inbetween. nowadays Im having a meal about 3 hours before training then before training taking 50g of maltodextrin carbs with my pre workout and feeling great throughout the whole workout tonnes of energy no bloated feeling and in general feeling alot better. One of the things i love about bodybuilding in general is all the fine tuning and listening to your body and trial and error and making adjustments as you progress
Meat and rice and sweet potatoes. Vegetables and fruit. Focus on whole foods. Eat enough carbs to fuel workouts and not feel flat. Pull back when you stop responding that well to the carbs anymore. Don't deprive yourself too much. If you're not stepping on stage any time soon, work in what you want...
I'm a Sprinkler Fitter, we install piping for sprinklers inside buildings for fire protection, and we carry heavy ass pipe and tools up and down stairs, ladders all damn day, and it took me a while to realize i needed more fats with my 2 meals i eat at work, so i added extra virgin olive oil to my 2nd and 3rd meal which i eat on the job, and man what a difference, u just saved a lot of people some bullsthit time lol
Of course, if you are natural and want to harness your own testosterone and gh production you shld avoid carbs immediately after training as insulin blocks test and gh production. Test/gh are produced maximally immediately after heavy resistance training. If you are augmented then this doesnt matter as you have exogenous supply. Bear in mind pros have a different nutritional protocol based on a very different biochemical basis.
Think this was what a lot of us wanted: there’s a lot of GENERAL advice out there, but not always granular or specific advice .. which is what us non-pro’s need ...
Another knowledge video. 3 videos on a row and have learnt so much. Even know i lnew alot of it was refreshing to hear as its made me think back to basics. Thanks James make more. So much common sense.
Another great video. Simple and very educational! Thank you for sharing all this knowledge. We really need to listen to all this so we can become better. You are a great person and one of the best professional bodybuilders. Keep it up big Man!!!!!
James my guy, just wanna day thanks for the content. Around end of last year I totally lost my passion in the gym, just burned out. Tried to get back into it beginning of the year and then Lockdown happened etc. So that just killed it. Been watching you past few months and I’m so much more into it now, even got my diet and training up a notch, so thanks mate 👍 I think you’re absolutely killing it 💪
This video motivated me to start and work on my own diet!💪 I started today and i came back to this video like 10 times to pick up on the lil things i didnt know before. Much love james hope u win the Spain show bro💯💪
Just finished watching your first 4 videos in the bodybuilding basic series and I’m finding the information so useful and informative. The delivery is very easy to understand and the content is full and straight to the point. Thankyou, keep up the good work, good luck with your shows and I look forward to learning more from your experience.
Love this video. Been wanting to get some info like this for time. Thank you James. I feel motivated watching these videos and hope to make some decent progress over the year. You are a legend. Thanks again.
Absolutely loving the series man, perfect level of detail and explanations are great. Love it man, can’t wait to see you get your Olympia qualification you deserve!🙌🏽
Brother, this was probably the most informative nutrition video I've ever seen. It took me years, and to hire a coach to find out all of which you covered in 15 minutes. Gold man. You just did something really amazing for this community.
Awesome video James. New fan here. A little over 3 years ago I got married to my beautiful wife who was on the competition level. I was in the best shape of my life up until I tore up my shoulder riding motox. From there cookie dough and ice cream got its grip on me. Got tired of being a fat ass, and it's been 6 weeks that I've been back in the gym and it feels great. The diet is the toughest part for me but you are an inspiration. Keep the videos coming.. :)
My food guy has me on 20g of peanut butter 3 times a day, aswell as chia seeds for the first 2 meals and almonds at night. I have been thinking that I was eating to much fat. I am going to organise my meals better as I train different times of the day with work. Thanks
Jus started watching your videos mate and I think they are brilliant to take in great advice I want to starting eating clean for the first time now I've seen your videos u have inspired me a lot keep up the good work bug man 👍
On a roll my dude, last video you were under 20k subs now on your way to 30k. If you keep it up you can have youtube as a side job just filming your day to day. Good work mate! Commenting and liking for the youtube algorithm.
Its amazing what the keto/carnivor diet has done for me. Lean all year round, no need to think about meal timing, bulking phase or anything. And i eat an apple feels like a pre-workout. Give it a go if anyone is interested.
I've noticed a huge difference in satiety since playing around with my fats. I generally just enjoy a lower fat diet but they prevent things from going right through me
It hightly depends when you workout,if I workout in the morning then I prefer to have a higher fat meal in the evening,if I workout in the evening then I eat a high fat breakfast
I get off work at 4:30, so my last break is at 2:30, I go to the gym straight after work. My break is about 10 minutes so what type of food would be best pre training?
James, what are the kicks you wear in some of your videos with the yellow laces? Those are badass looking shoes. Not sure I’ve ever seen them in the US.
Always learn lots. Thanks a lot for the useful info mate. Quick question not about diet; How is this training intensity and also training volume effected by enhanced / natural athletes? Should advanced enhanced athletes train with more intensity (e.g. closer to failure each time with more cluster sets / super sets) & should they train with more volume / sets per week e.g. 20-22 Sets per muscle per week, split into two sessions? Obviously as long as the whole body fatigue isn't too high & not going into the next sessions sore. Thanks in advance
Great, amazing and very informative video James! But the only thing I can't digest are people who are doing Barbell Curls in a Squat Rack or doing Barbell Shrugs by using the Bench Press! 😂😂😂 Digestion is a very underrated and mostly overlooked thing in a diet, but it is the key to perform well in and outside the gym! Sleep issues, gass and farts... feeling slugish, tired.. all those things are often linked to poor digestion!
Great explanation James! So the idea is to spike blood sugar/insulin post workout but reduce glycemic load using fats for all other meals using added fats to slow digestion? Other than the lethargic crash, why is the insulin spike avoided when bulking? Seems to me that more insulin would be more anabolic.
fantastic video mate, what would you advise for someone that gets up at 4am and is in the gym for 5am? breakfast has become a major issues since training in the morning. i no a few other guys struggling with this same issue. thanks in advance
Id suggest sipping cluster bomb / carbs powder mixed with say eaas on route to the gym ... or sounds harsh go to bed ealeier and get up ealier and have some oats and eggs! Haha worst case the previous suggestion, also have carbs and eass intra workout too and make sure post workout meal is solid and filling.. say a good portion of chicken and jasmine rice !
Literally your content is ace! You are inspirational, can’t wait to see you on stage ! Thoughts on Training early, so 6am food starts going in.. 7.15-7.30am training, trainbyjp layout PPL, Whats best nutritional wise pre meal, a pro/carb but additional fats? intra EAA/carb, then pro/carb post? I used to do refined oats/almond milk/mre lite and toast almond butter and banana. Now thinking going rice flakes /mre/ almond butter, banana? Hope I’m not asking too much there.. cheers 💪
Thank you so so much for these 4 videos :-) I'm not a bodybuilder, but I love to hit the gym and stay somewhat in shape. I'm 45... got to keep moving!! 🤘🏋️🖤
Great video James👍 what do you think about fruit as immediate post workout meal with a shake. Ive been having a banana and bowl of pinappple lately...ok? Rearranging my meals tomorow based on your tips😀 thanks
Hey there. Thanks for the great videos! They are very informal and interesting. I'm trying to build up muscles right now, doing the work in the gym and so on, but I don't really find time to prepare all these meals. What's the best way to do this? Preparing in bulk on sundays? Or doing them fresh every night with losing some sleep..? Thansk for the answers already and cheers from Switzerland!
Cheers for all the recent content James. This series has been absolutely fantastic so far!
Thank you 👊
I've been lifting for around 5 years now and listening to you over all the other guys I've started seeing changes

If dairy isn't an issue I love a yogurt mixed with whey
A higher carb yoghurt
But if not eating for 2 or so ours maybe oats and whey if time is tight
