Psycho is the BEST our only regret is when promoting this song last year Wendy( the white bleached hair who was hitting the high notes) got injured from falling backstage almost 6 feet after their stage performance at SBS musicshow...The girls promoted the whole 2020 year without her as she was hospitalized and healing. we just got her back this year and she will release her first solo album on April next month!!!!

You mentioned they used their hands a lot elegantly as if they were doing ballet. I am not sure if SM informed the choreographers about the concept of Psycho being based from the movie Black Swan (2010) the one lead by Natalie Portman but maybe that's why it looked like that, they probably incorporated a lot of hand movements and tweaked it a bit added more combo to look modern or bit contemporaryish :)

I'm glad you picked up on the funny/campy side to this song. Its a very prominent vibe from red velvet and I love them for it. They aren't afraid to be a bit silly or cheesy with their songs and even their mvs. Almost all of their mvs before psycho era are extra campy/fun and its so refreshing. one of the things that distinguishes Kpop from western pop is the fact that almost every (pop) song has choreo - i think that's partly because there has always been live performance shows. this has resulted in a culture where everybody remembers specific dances and moves associated with iconic songs and many people learn these moves. i think that is a major factor in the hand movements. this isn't a contemporary or ballet performance performed by classically trained dancers, it's pop idols giving you something to do along with them as you listen to their music (just an idea) also because idols are singing while performing, hand movements provide visual action without being so demanding on stamina and breathing.
I think I understood what you meant when you spoke of the way they are using their hands in the choreography, in a way it is as if the hand movements fit perfectly with the beat of the song. SM Ent. is known for doing this with her choreography. the dance is not to be explosive, it is there to harmonize with the music as if the dance were part of one of the singing voices. you can see a lot of this in the Red Velvet dances and also in other groups like EXO

there isn't a dance practice cause Wendy (the blonde one) suffered an injury due to the negligence of a TV Company, 2 days after they released this song, so that's why you will see some shots are the asme as the MV. Also the shots are not the best quality when we referred to dance shots. About the girl in the Middle, that's Seulgi ! Main Dancer of RV ! she has this Girl crush vibe but she's cute hahaha there's a reason people say Seulgi and Ddeulgi xD About the original visual, yeah Irene is considered like the visual of 3rd generation ! Psycho is such a great song to begin into the rv world, they got even more intricate choreos in other songs. I'd recommend Irene & Seulgi's Monster the stage presence they got and some movements in it are just chef's kiss. Hope you like the group and react more to Red Velvet in the future 💗
As many were recommending Naughty by Red Velvet's subunit Irene & Seulgi. I on the other hand would recommend their title track, Monster, to you because it has lots of interesting imagery and somehow the whole choreography alone tells the story of the song. Almost lyrical which is rare in kpop. Choreographer was Janelle Ginestra :) P.S. I watched your reaction to Taemin's IDEA and in Monster the dancers are not just "extra" or "back up" to the choreography, but an integral part of the overall dance :)

Kpop has a nice balance of everything. I think thats one thing that most people don't know. You can find a ton of variety in Kpop and just like this for instance. You can find red velvet doing more of the cutesy, theatrical, style of dancing with their RED music (if you didn't know they cross back and forth between the more "traditional" Kpop that I think most people associate it with, the RED, and the more heavily influenced in hip hop and Rnb sound like this song which is the VELVET side of them. making Red Velvet. I think thats part of the reason that Kpop is appealing to a bigger audience everyday. Their versatility as artists and performers is impressive. Not just RV but many KPOP groups do this. Im not a professional dancer in anyway but I still consider that kind of choreo dance. Dance doesn't have to be a specific thing or style. Kpop is unique in that they have essentially made their own unique style of dance from other styles and mashing it with theirs. I would suggest trying something from their RED side like Russian Roulette or Ice Cream Cake. RV has always had smart choreo in my opinion. I do agree that SOME Kpop can make it to redundant with certain movements and choreo

So this is a comment I find explaining accurately what is going on in the MV 😅: Basically in psycho, people may think that Joy (girl with black bangs) may be the evil one, but it's lrene (the original visual hehe). In the beginning to the bridge, you see that Joy is trying to "wake" the members and acknowledge that Irene is basically a puppet master. Irene starts to lose her control over the members as the members break out of their spell and start rebelling, but the butterfly mirror means that Irene has taken over again and in the ending where they dance with the dresses, they are basically revolving around Irene which means Irene has taken over again and is in control.
Fun fact: the ending pose with the girls resemble the letters "RV" but since Wendy got an injury thus she being missing from the end pose, the end pose resembles the roman numerals "IV" 4 as in 4 members instead of 5

I think on the topic of hands twice would be fun to look into. They used to do a lot of these "hand symbols" (for example "TT" or "Yes or Yes"), because they were going for that whole cutesy vibe. But now they are doing more like mature music and their dances also changed because of that. Might be a fun before and now video! Also react to dreamcatcher, they are just overall amazing!
This song is exactly the reason why I became Reveluv (Red Velvet's fans are called). Wendy the main vocal has a very powerful voice yet subtle. They are a very talented group and all beautiful. Sad that they are not promoted much but in Korea they have a reputation as powerhouse group. Even if it is just Seulgi and Wendy they can ace other groups in beauty and talent.
Yes. If you notice more, kpop girl groups focus more with hands movements. While boy groups more to leg movements. And it is also depends to the company to accept the original dance/choreography (where they will hired a few professional choreographers to create a choreography for the song) or they will change for a bit. I think I understood what you meant when you spoke of the way they are using their hands in the choreography, in a way it is as if the hand movements fit perfectly with the beat of the song. SM Ent. is known for doing this with her choreography. the dance is not to be explosive, it is there to harmonize with the music as if the dance were part of one of the singing voices. you can see a lot of this in the Red Velvet dances and also in other groups like EXO

there isn't a dance practice cause Wendy (the blonde one) suffered an injury due to the negligence of a TV Company, 2 days after they released this song, so that's why you will see some shots are the asme as the MV. Also the shots are not the best quality when we referred to dance shots.
About the girl in the Middle, that's Seulgi ! Main Dancer of RV ! she has this Girl crush vibe but she's cute hahaha there's a reason people say Seulgi and Ddeulgi xD
About the original visual, yeah Irene is considered like the visual of 3rd generation !

Psycho is such a great song to begin into the rv world, they got even more intricate choreos in other songs. I'd recommend Irene & Seulgi's Monster the stage presence they got and some movements in it are just chef's kiss. Hope you like the group and react more to Red Velvet in the future 💗
This is one of the best song from them. The beat is unique it has electronic sound to it which I like the most in this song.
As many were recommending Naughty by Red Velvet's subunit Irene & Seulgi. I on the other hand would recommend their title track, Monster, to you because it has lots of interesting imagery and somehow the whole choreography alone tells the story of the song. Almost lyrical which is rare in kpop. Choreographer was Janelle Ginestra :)
P.S. I watched your reaction to Taemin's IDEA and in Monster the dancers are not just "extra" or "back up" to the choreography, but an integral part of the overall dance :)

Red Velvet is one of the groups with the best vocals, I love this song.... the reason Psycho still doesn't have dance practice is because unfortunately Wendy (this girl 3:40) had a serious accident 2 days after the song was released and they hadn't recorded it yet (Wendy recovered and is fine now) :)

Kpop has a nice balance of everything. I think thats one thing that most people don't know. You can find a ton of variety in Kpop and just like this for instance. You can find red velvet doing more of the cutesy, theatrical, style of dancing with their RED music (if you didn't know they cross back and forth between the more "traditional" Kpop that I think most people associate it with, the RED, and the more heavily influenced in hip hop and Rnb sound like this song which is the VELVET side of them. making Red Velvet. I think thats part of the reason that Kpop is appealing to a bigger audience everyday. Their versatility as artists and performers is impressive. Not just RV but many KPOP groups do this. Im not a professional dancer in anyway but I still consider that kind of choreo dance. Dance doesn't have to be a specific thing or style. Kpop is unique in that they have essentially made their own unique style of dance from other styles and mashing it with theirs. I would suggest trying something from their RED side like Russian Roulette or Ice Cream Cake. RV has always had smart choreo in my opinion. I do agree that SOME Kpop can make it to redundant with certain movements and choreo

So this is a comment I find explaining accurately what is going on in the MV 😅:
Basically in psycho, people may think that Joy (girl with black bangs) may be the evil one, but it's lrene (the original visual hehe). In the beginning to the bridge, you see that Joy is trying to "wake" the members and acknowledge that Irene is basically a puppet master. Irene starts to lose her control over the members as the members break out of their spell and start rebelling, but the butterfly mirror means that Irene has taken over again and in the ending where they dance with the dresses, they are basically revolving around Irene which means Irene has taken over again and is in control.

the ending pose with the girls resemble the letters "RV" but since Wendy got an injury thus she being missing from the end pose, the end pose resembles the roman numerals "IV" 4 as in 4 members instead of 5

The girl in black in the middle you said you liked because she seemed tough is SEULGI shes the main dancer of the group and yes she does give off a masculine vibe that fans and even idol fans of her call her Seulgi Oppa which is a korean word used for men ( older brother or boyfriend). But she can hit high notes along with the main vocalist of the group Wendy.

Hi , in this video first we are shown as Joy is the one who is psycho as she is planning something for all the girls but in the end , the real psycho is Irene , she was the one controlling everyone as an example of sewing , when Joy started to remove everyone from her control she cut her finger while sewing , but in the end the ready dresses signifies her control has set again and that's why she says Psycho in the end , it's an amazing song

I think on the topic of hands twice would be fun to look into. They used to do a lot of these "hand symbols" (for example "TT" or "Yes or Yes"), because they were going for that whole cutesy vibe. But now they are doing more like mature music and their dances also changed because of that. Might be a fun before and now video! Also react to dreamcatcher, they are just overall amazing!
This song is exactly the reason why I became Reveluv (Red Velvet's fans are called). Wendy the main vocal has a very powerful voice yet subtle. They are a very talented group and all beautiful. Sad that they are not promoted much but in Korea they have a reputation as powerhouse group.
Even if it is just Seulgi and Wendy they can ace other groups in beauty and talent.

Yes. If you notice more, kpop girl groups focus more with hands movements. While boy groups more to leg movements. And it is also depends to the company to accept the original dance/choreography (where they will hired a few professional choreographers to create a choreography for the song) or they will change for a bit. Bcs they wanted it to be easy for the idols to do simple movement while singing. And if idols doesn't mind with the dance they will continue with the original dance.
Oh that's interesting, I guess boy groups do tend to have more leg moves and girl groups more hands movement!

I kinda feel bad they weren't the first group you reacted to because they set the bar so high. I cannot stan any other kpop group after listening to their discography and getting to know them.
You should really check out Naughty by Irene-Seulgi coz its 3-4 mins of pure tutting and whacking and you'll love every bit of it
To summarise the song,
They're in a very toxic, controlling & abusive relationship both physical and verbal with their partner
On the outside, they look so perfect together, a cute loving couple
Even if they fight (as in literal fight), they'd hugged the next moment like nothing has happened beforehand
People (close to them) called it weird coz they know the situation they're in....this they both know too but truth is, they enjoyed it (there's like some masochistic element there)
They didn't want to let go of each other.... they're obsessed with each other
People call them psycho for it but they don't care
so this song is like them saying/consoling to themselves "yeah I'm a psycho for you, so what? it doesn't matter how anyone sees us, yes we're a little weird but that's alright, we're always okay at the end so it'll be fine"
