Irene will probably never know, but she almost saved my life. I was in a dark and depressed phase because I lost my girlfriend, but when Irene looks into the camera and says "It's alright" I started crying and something in me released and it's been improving ever since. And even now, I still have tears in my eyes every time I see this scene
Wow, that's beautiful that music can legitimately help us get out of these dark moments, I appreciate you sharing it. And I hope that you are not going to hate my interpretation of the song, knowing how much it means to you. I just went with a very dark direction, that's what I'm usually more attracted to I guess.
Absolutely no problem 😉sometimes a single line of a song triggers something like that. even if the song actually has a completely different meaning, but that one line or single verse hits the mark. I feel the same way about "I remember you" by Skid Row. or on "Don't you worry" by Swedish House Mafia. Actually a different meaning, but parts of the text speak to my special emotional state in that Moment in a way that wasn't even intended. It's all a question of interpretation and how you feel on the day. sometimes you sing along, other times you're close to tears. I love your reactions here on TH-cam and I hope you are doing well. Physically and also mentally 🥂
Red Velvet are a group known for their versatility and AMAZING b-sides. They have their “Red” side which is more “quirky”, fun, cute and pop & their “Velvet” side which is more mature, sexy, R&B. They are known as the group with the members that have the best vocals and so good in harmonizing. They have one of the best vocal lines in Kpop! Wendy, the platinum blonde is the BEST female vocalist of this generation. The fact is that internationally Red Velvet not as popular as 2 other girl groups from Big 3 (Blackpink, Twice, Red Velvet) because their music is sometimes hard to catch up and SM tends to change concepts every comeback. They do a lot of concept like I can't even explain how versatile they are. You might find some of it weird, creepy, aesthetic, girlcrush, cute or whatever it is, they're not afraid of trying something new which sets them apart from other groups. f you react to more Red Velvet, don't be surprised if you find yourself saying "Is this the same group?!?" Every comeback is completely different.
Once again, these are just my opinions and my interpretation of the song, and whether I'm right or wrong, there is no doubt that these girls are PHENOMENAL and this MV is AMAZING!
It was Yeri jumping on the bed, but Joy closing the door ( you can still see Yeri jumping in the background as she does. Their facial structure is similar, so you're not totally off base by getting them mixed up.
Wow you really went deep into analysis and interpreting the video. Most people who react do get the theme more or less. I think you did the most complete analysis I have seen so far. You basically got everything they MV is telling us. I think the wedding theme at the end is after she has convinced herself that they will be alright and they can get married. But the last line says they are still psycho and this is really just a bandaid in the end.
In psychology, it's known as a "conflict habituated relationship". Both parties have, for a myriad of reason, come to believe that affection is shown through conflict - fights, arguments. Most of us have known couples like this, they're constantly fighting, but they never break up. They're all about the drama, since, to them, that shows their love.
Thanks for that. I never knew the actual term for it, although I figured there had to be one. I think everyone knows someone who's been in a relationship like this.
I just love how the musical elements in the background feels so unsettling and it really suits the overall concept and lyrics especially the tingling synth 1:08 that comes back and forth from left to the right ear. That effect they did on the synth makes me feel dizzy and it really complements the overall vibe of "toxic" relationship through the lyrics cause you just always STUCK in that area. Though this song portrays dark elements, I somehow feel very comforted by the end of the song when they sang "HEY NOW WE'LL BE OKAY". Wendy (the white haired girl) suffered from a terrible stage mishap due to staff negligence two days after PSYCHO was released forcing the group to halt all activities and be on hiatus for a year. They were supposed to promote the song, but then the stage accident happened and it caused the fans to feel so bad for Wendy and the group. She suffered several injuries on her face and pelvic bone and went through surgeries and rehab for almost 8 months. It was a heartbreaking moment in K-pop cause Red Velvet is so popular not only among K-pop fans but also among professional musicians because this group produces one of the best music and is always critically acclaimed for their musicality and versatility. The members also cried and shared multiple times how sad they were to see Wendy not being able to speak nor chew her food since she broke her jaw. They all refused to do group activities without her because she's basically the core in the group. Imagine being the main vocalist but you almost lose your voice and the talent you have polished since a kid because of someone else's negligence. Seeing Wendy again today, we can see how strong of a person she is and we're so glad to see her running and smiling again. Also, thinking that this song was released by the end of 2019 when Coronavirus started to spread, and how those terrible things happened to Wendy and the group, the song really comforted the fans and making us believe that they will come back one day and everything is gonna be fine. Lucky them, this song topped the Korean and International charts and making it one of their most popular releases until this day. p/s : they will comeback on March 21st with a new mini album and it seems like a lot are tuning in because of the concept!
The one at the start with the blonde hair is Wendy. You previously saw her in GOT The Beat and is an absolutely amazing singer. Sadly two days after this song came out, she got injured while rehearsing a stage. Completely the fault of the tv station. You can check out her solo song "Like Water" which she came out with last year. This is a velvet song. My first suggestion for a red side song would be "Red Flavor". For a more Velvet side song, I would suggest "Bad Boy". And of course, there is their new song. You would be good with pretty much any song though. I would suggest checking out the stuff Seulgi and Irene put out together. "Monster" is the main one, but the "Naughty" choreography is on point.
Monster has been poppin' out on a weekly basis for months now, whether it's the actual MV or a reaction to it, I'm dying to check it out! Also it's a happy coincidence that a new MV is coming out as I'm being introduced to them, perfect timing!
I was actually a bit surprised when you posted the teaser for reacting to this song, not only because it is so close their next release, but also because I figured you would be a bit busy this week with new releases.
I will also add that with this reaction to Red Velvet, I think you have reacted to all of the current big girl groups. Still got some big soloists still to check though, and of course plenty of older big groups that are either mostly inactive or disbanded.
@@Dardove I honestly didn't even plan on releasing both reactions on the same day, I really have a problem with self control, and I ended burning myself out bceause I had to edit/film 5 reactions including Patreon, still wanna check out Solar's new song and the new girl group XG.
@@DGReacts When you mentioned it on the Jennie blog, I was quite amazed on how much work you ended up doing in a single day (even though I knew how many videos you both put out here and then need to put out on Patreon over the weekend). I can certainly understand diving too far into a project and burning myself out so I need to take a step back.
this was my first modern kpop gg video i saw in late 2019, and i was immediately hooked, the aesthetics, the vocals, the feel of it everything is just so stunning, so into many groups now, it kinda takes hold...
This song and MV were inspired by the movie "Black swan", main character of which played by Natalie Portman has dissociative identity disorder. Like that movie, main character of this MV (Seulgi, who starts the song sitting next to weaving machine in a white dress) also has dissociative identity disorder. 5 members of the group are her 5 identities, who are in a very weird and strange relationship with each other. In the beginning Irene sitting in the driver seat of a car and Seulgi sitting in the backseat means that Irene is the main identity, which controls other 4 identities. Irene sitting in the center of the sewing room in the same white dress as Seulgi in the beginning of the MV, and saying "I'm original visual, this is who we are" during her rap part also means that she is the main identity, and this is who they (all 5 identities of Seulgi) are. Right after Yeri's rap part Seulgi singing "How can I handle You?" means that how can she handle all 5 identities (or maybe only Yeri), who fight each other to take control of her. Joy, who whispers "psycho" in the beginning of the MV, wants to take control of Seulgi from Irene and the other identities. Maybe she doesn't want to share Seulgi with the other identities, that's why she cut the string of walkie-talkie, by which Yeri was communicating with Seulgi, and took Wendy away by pulling her hand and put her on the train. Thus Joy took Yeri and Wendy away from Seulgi and isolated them, so that they can't communicate with Seulgi. In the train with Wendy Joy isn't driving, she is a passenger like Wendy, but after it she is driving the car and saying to Seulgi "Tell me now", which means that she took control of her. But Yeri broke the glass door (or window) with stone and sent message to Seulgi (or Irene) with a letter attached to it. During the MV Seulgi's reflection in the mirror isn't synchronized with her, which means that she has split personality, but in the end (before the last chorus) her reflection in the mirror finally is synchronized with her. In the end (before the last chorus) we can see that one of them is running into sewing room and finding out that she is alone, then she is turning to us, and we see that it's Irene. This means that all 5 identities of Seulgi became one under control of Irene, and they seem to be happy now singing "Hey now we'll be OK, it's alright", but at the same time we can see that Yeri isn't jumping on the mattress in her room, and there is a peephole on the door of her room, which means that she is under control now. And butterflies maybe symbolize transformation of 5 identities into one. So this MV is a psychological thriller and show the Velvet side of Red Velvet with dark concept. And because Seulgi is the main character of the MV and has the most lines in this song, this is definitely Seulgi's era.
Yay to Red Velvet!!! I told you before you will love their twisted mvs!!! And their vocal abilities are ridiculous. Thats my Girl Seulgi that did that first note in the beginning. You should see them sing this live from the ReVefest.
Yeah you were right all along, I wish I checked them out much earlier but better late than never haha! I feel like by the time I check another MV of theirs they will become one of my favorite groups in record time!
I just found your channel (from reacting to Go and Candy 😅) and your reaction is really something new to me. I haven't watch reactions cuz it almost always the same with everyone but then you dissect Go lyrics and I was mindblown. I usually dislike reactors that paused in between but I found I was waiting what you would say when you pause. You are awesome 😎
The concepts of their songs are really dark there are things that a normal viewer wouldn't understand. The instrumentals may sound upbeat but the f*cking lyrics and visuals will blow your mind. I'd love to hear your take on their other songs. Looking forward to it.
Wow i like your opinion and interpretation of the song. I get goosebump because i know Red Velvet - Psycho is dark but i don't know it might be more darker. Mind blowing 👏. And FYI maybe you don't know yet, Red velvet will comeback in March 21 with Feel the Rhythym and i think the concept might be dark and elegant like Psycho☺
I've never put too much thought into this songs meaning, I've always just loved the vocals and the overall sound, and the chaos of the MV. It's so pretty.
I really enjoying watch your reaction I like the way u focus on so many details I don’t see that a lot in other reaction channels I like the way u explain like it show how you enjoy the meaning
you'll prolly love red velvet's feel my rhythm! it's their comeback! march 21, and i hope you react to it too 😊 btw, i love how you interpret the psycho and i'd loved to know what's on your mind when you listen/watch to feel my rhythm this coming 21
red velvet is an amazing group. all girls are super talented and have a lot of potential. i wish you could react more to their songs and live performances. and when it comes to vocals, they are the queens of the subject. anyway, your reactions always make me reflect on the music lol
I loved your take! Art can have many interpretations and SM does make sure of it. No theory is ever confirm so your guess is as good as anyone's. But I specifically loved the way you talk about the MV representing the mental stage of the narrator, it was really interesting and something I haven't seen before!
i really respect, and genuinely enjoy how in depth you analysed the music video- including the lyrics and visual motifs. its refreshing and very inspiring! thank you for the video~
Red velvet is one of THE most amazing kpop groups out their 🌟Their concepts are Chef kiss 🌟Vocals are insane Wendy (white haired one) is one of the best vocals in the 3rd generation of kpop 🌟They have two concepts Red: cute, summer , wacky type of songs Velvet : mature r&b style songs And then they are both concepts 🌟VISUALS ARE THERE IRENE IS THE ORIGINAL VISUAL
Thankyou for explaining it more deep!! I can fully understand the song now because of you 👏👏😊 can't wait for your another reaction to Red Velvet songs!! 👍👍
First girl on screen: Seulgi(main dancer, lead vocal) Blonde girl: Wendy(main vocal) Girl at sewing machine: Irene(leader, main rapper, lead dancer, visual) Girl who cut the red string: Joy(lead vocal) Girl jumping on bed: Yeri(maknae, lead rapper)
If you love this, please react their "bad boy" "kingdom come" Red Velvet has *tons* gold musics. Psycho definitely weird or toxic relationship. But imo, it's about a couple who always bickers and fight jokingly as showing affection, but in the end of day they made up lovingly ❤
Welcome to the world of Red Velvet, where even the happiest and colorful MV are way creepy . For what I know, they are basically Witches in the SMCU lore and maybe the antagonist in EXO lore(?). I really don't know but they are weird and I like it very much. The girls are gonne have a comeback and just by the photoshoot and the teaser it's going to be some scary shit as always.😵
So basically redvelvet has 2 concepts the red and the velvet you reacted to the velvet one where they do rnb sensual and sexy concepts i recommend you watch there last comeback queendom it was a red(colorfull, bubbly and cute ) comeback just fyi redvelvet never stick to 1 style of music they change it every comeback and they have the title of the summer queens and b side queens
this is the gold standard for artistic and creative music video in kpop.It has everything from visuals to vocals and choreo. please watch monster .. it is a beautiful gift also. Your reaction is , as always, very interesting. There is a video somewhere theorizing the storyline of this video. you would like it, if you can locate it.
Get video man! I love Red Velvet, they are awesome. You really have to check out Peek-A-Boo. Awesome song and awesome story. Upbeat song with a creepy and dark story. Its awesome! You would love it for sure!
When you watch more Red Velvet videos you'll notice reoccurring imagery: string, scissors, butterflies and flowers etc. My favorite song by them is Russian Roulette, it's so good!
Red Velvet are vocal queens and literal chameleons, capable of portraying any concept. “Psycho” is perfect, the MV’s Hitchcock-ian aesthetic is on point, and the performance and production are flawless.
I really love how you react because you just don't appreciate the music but you also explain your own understanding of the meaning of the music video. Their discography is truly awesome. They will make a comeback tomorrow. Please keep reacting on Red Velvet ❤️
I am the type of person that like a "hype" reaction, but somehow watching you really into the mv, analyzed everything, really focus, i also really like it. Worth a subscribe
Yes! You looked flabbergasted..LOL. This song is my vibe because of it's "dark" aspect after Bad Boy. It is meant as a follow-up to Bad Boy production as everyone loves that. The sound of Bad Boy is something that is rather unique in that era of KPop. If you are interested in another similar creepy vibe type song by them, you can check out Peek-a-Boo..but a fair warning that is it brain-wrecking weird..lol
I'm glad you finally found Red Velvet! Truly my fave song of theirs. Your interpretation... is interesting. I have always heard the song as being much more of a case of not judging other people's relationships from the outside because everyone is looking & wanting different things. The "psycho" being more figurative than literal. Interesting interpretation though!
Great analysis as always! I'm so excited that you have dived into Red Velvet. They're hailed as musically the most interesting K-pop girl group out there and also known for the variety of concepts they try with each comeback but they're not too on the nose with them and there is always a bit of mystery to them so there is a lot to talk about and analyze. I understand that it may be a bit hard to interpret their MVs because they try to serve two purposes at the same time: tell a self-contained story (in this case about a toxic relationship which you perfectly explained) and adding a new chapter to Red Velvet's overarching story. So far each come back has been a key to a new understanding of the ever-evolving lore and the level of interactivity is what makes listening to Red Velvet so much fun. Looking forward to your future reactions to RV!
I came here after watching your reaction to 'dilemma' by Apink. So it is funny that they both talk about toxic relationship, but in different view. If they are dating, RedVelvet is the one who are toxic and enjoy it, and Apink the one who wanna end it.
yeeah finally red velvet!! i love the group and i loved the video too. i would recomend you checking out their mv peek a boo, i have a feeling you will like the concept LOL. there is also monster by irene&seulgi which are two members of red velvet that have a really dark concept
Ahh, this comeback era... I remember when Wendy got badly injured (multiple bones fractured) due to falling from a platform (fuck you SBS). What's worse is that I was in a gloomy phase because of stress and anxiety but the "Hey now, we'll be ok" are like a smack to my face, it's gonna be alright. Whenever I listen to Psycho, it just gives me comfort and a nostalgic feeling, just like WENDY Like Water.
I can't express how much I love this song its just amazing and after listening to it I did go through their discography a lil but it turned out that their other songs are something that really don't prefer listening to. Still i'm looking forward to their comeback this month. Btw hope you check out Solar's latest comeback HONEY 🍯🍯! ITS A CERTIFIED BOP!!
@@amirulfarhan5644 well actually not cuz I only checked out their really talked 'bout title tracks. I gave the title tracks a try because tbh the title tracks are supposed to represent a group to it's fullest.
I'm not really into Red Velvet (I follow them from afar) but this song is a masterpiece! Irene and Seulgi (sub group) have one song with a similar vibe that I also find an excellent track; with references to one of the firts Vampiric victorian novellas "Carmilla" (A female vampire trying to seduce a teenage girl): Monster - th-cam.com/video/Ujb-gvqsoi0/w-d-xo.html And also check their MV "Naughty" or how you can entice someone like a snake charmer, with only dance movements and music (it's a black and white MV). th-cam.com/video/wCWoUUWwdqg/w-d-xo.html

Lagu red velvet yang Menurutku paling bagus Psycho, bad boy, peek a boo, dan fell my rithm, selebihnya kurang suka karena bukan selera saya. Tapi psycho another nevel sangat suka psycho dan menjadi Lagu girl group nomor 1 di playlist saya . Btw thanks for your reaction, love your reaction
As always, love your reaction!!! I’m not a huge RV fan, but this song is classic. I actually discovered it through a cover done by the 00’s, a male group including Hyunjin from Stray Kids and a few from other groups. Check it out if you get a chance. It’s interesting to see how well they cover it!

Your analysis is really cool..!!!
I like your video so much 👍
I've never put too much thought into this songs meaning, I've always just loved the vocals and the overall sound, and the chaos of the MV. It's so pretty.
Psycho is such a masterpiece. One of the best kpop songs and concept ever made. Original visual goddess!
Thanks for the reaction! I am excited to see what you think about their other songs and the diversity in styles.
wendy seulgi!!!!!!! the VOCALS of RED VELVET!!!! THE 94 LINE ARE THE BEST!!!!!!
Irene,Wendy,Seulgi are one of the most most beautiful female idols
yes they , but who i found Joy is the Prettier lol
Truly masterpiece
I loved your take! Art can have many interpretations and SM does make sure of it. No theory is ever confirm so your guess is as good as anyone's. But I specifically loved the way you talk about the MV representing the mental stage of the narrator, it was really interesting and something I haven't seen before!
i really respect, and genuinely enjoy how in depth you analysed the music video- including the lyrics and visual motifs. its refreshing and very inspiring! thank you for the video~
This is 2019 Song of the Year for me.
I will patiently wait for the reaction to Ice Cream cake.
Red velvet is one of THE most amazing kpop groups out their
🌟Their concepts are Chef kiss
🌟Vocals are insane Wendy (white haired one) is one of the best vocals in the 3rd generation of kpop
🌟They have two concepts
Red: cute, summer , wacky type of songs
Velvet : mature r&b style songs
And then they are both concepts
🌟VISUALS ARE THERE
IRENE IS THE ORIGINAL VISUAL
Thankyou for explaining it more deep!! I can fully understand the song now because of you 👏👏😊 can't wait for your another reaction to Red Velvet songs!! 👍👍
First girl on screen: Seulgi(main dancer, lead vocal)
Blonde girl: Wendy(main vocal)
Girl at sewing machine: Irene(leader, main rapper, lead dancer, visual)
Girl who cut the red string: Joy(lead vocal)
Girl jumping on bed: Yeri(maknae, lead rapper)
Im not a RV fan at all usually but this song is a masterpiece. Probably my all time favorite kpop song.
I really like red velvet hehehe
this is the gold standard for artistic and creative music video in kpop.It has everything from visuals to vocals and choreo. please watch monster .. it is a beautiful gift also. Your reaction is , as always, very interesting. There is a video somewhere theorizing the storyline of this video. you would like it, if you can locate it.
The most beautiful reaction ever
This song is so good! Great pick :-)
One of the best analysis of this masterpiece.
I love ur pov of this mv. I agree. Pyscho is a very dark song.
Vocal Queens 😌🙌
This is the best song.
Just so you know RED VELVET is the best KPOP GBAND in Harmony. Wendy topping the vocals and Seulgi :) Down to the members :)
Get video man! I love Red Velvet, they are awesome. You really have to check out Peek-A-Boo. Awesome song and awesome story. Upbeat song with a creepy and dark story. Its awesome! You would love it for sure!
SM Entertainment Vocal and Visual 🔥❤️
When you watch more Red Velvet videos you'll notice reoccurring imagery: string, scissors, butterflies and flowers etc. My favorite song by them is Russian Roulette, it's so good!
Red Velvet are vocal queens and literal chameleons, capable of portraying any concept. “Psycho” is perfect, the MV’s Hitchcock-ian aesthetic is on point, and the performance and production are flawless.
since you liked psycho, you should check dumb dumb, russian roulette, peek a boo, monster, naughty, & their new song - feel my rhythm - out monday out
MORE RED VELVET PLS
Thank you for your reaction!
Redvelvet ♥️
I really love how you react because you just don't appreciate the music but you also explain your own understanding of the meaning of the music video. Their discography is truly awesome. They will make a comeback tomorrow. Please keep reacting on Red Velvet ❤️
Red Velvet're queens, for me they're the girl ver of kings SHINee
the live version at ReVe Festival is amazing too, their vocals are on another level
Next red velvet " feel my rythm"
Coming today.
Always love your reactions!
❤️
My man, Red Velvet are 5x 🔥👑's all the time. Just wait.....
I JUST SAW THIS WHILE MATCHING RV'S COUNTDOWN 💀🤧
I am the type of person that like a "hype" reaction, but somehow watching you really into the mv, analyzed everything, really focus, i also really like it. Worth a subscribe
their demo song of this shows much darker and depressing meanings to it! i'd recommend u to listen to it too so perhaps u'll understand the whole plot
psycho es arte...
9:47 i really like your analysis here
Fun fact... Jisoo from Blackpink was scouted to be in Red Velvet but she was already training to be in Blackpink.
Ohhhh wow!
There is an underlying myth here that Joy is the killer who controls all of them. Thats why she interrupts every scene and later becomes the driver
you should react to automatic or be natural next theyre their best b sides
I'm glad you finally found Red Velvet! Truly my fave song of theirs. Your interpretation... is interesting. I have always heard the song as being much more of a case of not judging other people's relationships from the outside because everyone is looking & wanting different things. The "psycho" being more figurative than literal. Interesting interpretation though!
You absolutely nailed the meaning of the song, some people missed the point of the song.
SM QUALITY CAN NEVER BE WRONG
가사나 상황 분석 엄청 잘하시는 듯 ❤
yeeah finally red velvet!! i love the group and i loved the video too. i would recomend you checking out their mv peek a boo, i have a feeling you will like the concept LOL. there is also monster by irene&seulgi which are two members of red velvet that have a really dark concept
Wow nice!
ITS A CERTIFIED BOP!!
have you check out their "velvet" songs?
@@amirulfarhan5644 is Bad boy considered a velvet song of their's? If yes, then I did listened to it and tbh it's a good song✨
@@prakharjyoti9033 yes bad boy is a velvet song..but i meant the bside songs coz red velvet are called bside queen..
@@amirulfarhan5644 well actually not cuz I only checked out their really talked 'bout title tracks. I gave the title tracks a try because tbh the title tracks are supposed to represent a group to it's fullest.
Finally❤️
Could you do peek a boo? Love your reactions!!!!
More RV react content please 💖
I'm not really into Red Velvet (I follow them from afar) but this song is a masterpiece!
Irene and Seulgi (sub group) have one song with a similar vibe that I also find an excellent track; with references to one of the firts Vampiric victorian novellas "Carmilla" (A female vampire trying to seduce a teenage girl):
Monster - th-cam.com/video/Ujb-gvqsoi0/w-d-xo.html
And also check their MV "Naughty" or how you can entice someone like a snake charmer, with only dance movements and music (it's a black and white MV).
th-cam.com/video/wCWoUUWwdqg/w-d-xo.html
Because that is in studio
finally
new subscriber here since you started reacting to Mamamoo and Taeyeon..And I'm amazed on how you interpret MV's..
and now you're reacting to my ult group...
I've never been happier🤧 Thank you..
I hope you can discover more of their music, cause it's really interesting 😊
Lagu red velvet yang Menurutku paling bagus
Psycho, bad boy, peek a boo, dan fell my rithm, selebihnya kurang suka karena bukan selera saya. Tapi psycho another nevel sangat suka psycho dan menjadi Lagu girl group nomor 1 di playlist saya . Btw thanks for your reaction, love your reaction
Please react to their new song later pretty please! Love your voice. So modulated
Please chek more mv redvelvet 🤣
Good reaction as always! ^^
By the way, you made a little mistake with the playlist: you named it 'Red VelEvet'.
Thank you for noticing, just fixed it :)
Much appreciated!! 🙏
love this reaction! I hope you react to more red velvet. They are from sm entertainment, I also hope you react to other sm artists like EXO 🤗
