This the full soundtrack to Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 64 using my self-made Super Smash Bros. Melee soundfont.

The fact you used samples of live orchestra performances to make this and it sounds exactly like if it was on Melee is flat out insanity!! Well done!!

Some songs aren't that good but for others you could show them to me and tell me they were unused in melee and I'd believe it

Most of these samples comes from Roland synths such as SC-55/88, JV-1080, etc. and are better versions of the ones featured in General MIDI wavetable from Windows.
this scratches the part of my brain that's spent exactly 88.2% of my life playing super smash bros 64 in a really weird way

Someone MUST mod Dream Land, Kongo Jungle, Peach's Castle, and Yoshi's Story's tracks into Melee. I would 100% use that mod

@@SoundFontGuyi loved Smash64's Lvl1 CPUs...theyre just so lovably-derp, almost like keeping a pet in the game...i feel like Smash-Ultimate's Lvl1 is more on-par with 64's Lvl3-- they just couldnt 'dumb them down' enough in later games...

11:00 - i always get chills when i hear that low-strings part on the bottom of Kongo Jungle (or any version of the DKC track)...something about the chord progression is just so Powerful...
It really has something special to it. The way David Wise crafted his tracks to evolve... it shines in any "soundfont" or any cover/arrangement/version.
Dude finding such a high quality Melee soundfont is a god send!!! So many GCN games dont have them, if you ever were able to do Paper Mario TTYD id FLIP!!

That's because most games starting in this era don't use sequenced music anymore, they use direct audio renders, Melee included.
@@MastaGambit That's exactly right, I made this soundfont by sourcing the instruments that were used in the soundtrack - this is not a ripped soundfont!
An idea for a future showcase; F-Zero GX with the F-Zero X soundfont, or vice-versa.
Oh that's a good idea! I'd have to make the f-zero x soundfont from scratch though so it'll take some time. Really good idea!

The only catch is that at least 2 specific .ngrr files (within the same link) is needed with Guitar Rig to use with the guitar soundfonts. I have thought about this a lot, and honestly I just worry I wouldn't do them justice. I made a lot of mistakes on this one and I'd just want to do much better in the future.

Wait, Melee doesn't have a Soundfont though... Wasn't all the music made by a real human performed orchestra?
Haha I keep getting this question! There are a couple of tracks that do indeed use a live orchestra, but the vast majority of them use synthesizers that sound near enough to a real orchestra. I compiled a soundfont based on those synths (and some orchestral samples) for everyone to use. Melee itself didn't use a soundfont, but my soundfont uses the same sounds that Melee uses, if that makes sense.

Quite funny how Melee was just called Dairantou Smash Brothers DX as in "Super Smash Bros Deluxe".
Yes, SSBM was just planned as a "Deluxe" version of the original.
Challenger Appears sounds a lot like the "Versus" theme from Melee, I love it and I noticed it was actually a short remix after all these years.
Meta Crystal sounds like it was the basis for the Break the Targets theme.
The soundfont is incredible, but I think you missed the Super Mario bros theme (NES) from the Mushroom Kingdom stage.

It feels, it feels like this is a song from a non-existent additional device, How Sega CDI, it feels like if this device existed on the Nintendo 64 there would be more Fighting, JRPGs, as well as pure music CDI Well, this platform doesn’t exist, but your remixes are cool.
That's a really interesting perspective! I agree though that it doesn't quite sound like GCN. I think some kind of in-between platform after N64 but before GCN. N64DD? Who knows!

Very cool collection of remixes, though they don't really scream "Melee" to me. Melee just has a very unique sounding OST that is hard to replicate. I can totally hear these melodies playing in some hypothetical "PC port" of Smash 64, similar to how other N64 games got PC ports with better sounding music
I agree, it doesn't really sound like melee. It does use the same synths and samples that melee used, but it lacks a certain charm that Melee really nails

Holy cheeto! A Melee soundfont its something that I always wanted as someone who wants to be an indie game dev and wanted this all al the time! Is it possible to make a Crash Bandicoot trilogy + Crash Team Racing soundfont from the PS1 though? The Spyro trilogy has one but not Crash at all, I even have a pfp from a CTR character on a somewhat unrelated note.
I am working on a crash compilation soundfontg! There's only a few instruments in each game so I'm compiling them all together into one collection before release

No you're 100% right. I made this soundfont based on the synths that were used in Melee, rather than extracting a font directly from the game (because of course there isn't one). I thought it would be a cool instrument library for people to use - the instruments of Melee at your fingertips!
It's just that modern technology is awesome, and if you do enough, any game's sound can now be treated as "soundfonts"! Incredible!
