I honestly think that’s becoming more common. I am the same way. The switch, pc, and PS5 are exclusive machines for me. I mostly use my Xbox due to having kids and not wanting to be locked in my office all day.

To be fair, it’d be nearly impossible for Sony to eat that cost the same way Microsoft can. I think it sounds pretty solid, but PS3 being streaming-only and not available at all in most regions is hugely disappointing.
The gamepass sub profits only allow for 2 exclusives a year. That's why there's no money to buy 3rd party AAA games. Unless it's something not many people play like MLB the show. It's why xbox users still had to buy many games on top of their 'premium' service that offers nothing but old games boosted and 2 exclusives a year. Xbox games don't sell in the 10-20m range so that 750m from subs goes to pay for their half baked behind the times games.

I always hated the “Free Games Each Month” it’s not really free your paying monthly or yearly for those “free” games. Sure it’s a good value but that still doesn’t make em free.
It used to be a game rental service on the Ps3, seems when the Ps4 launched and placed Online Game play behind the wall like Xbox, then people started calling the games free since the online gaming was now what they thought you were paying for.
Was anyone really shocked? It could never be gamepass - that entire model is dedicated to being based around an open economy. That’s not what ps is. They sell exclusives to drive hardware sales. To change that in such short notice would be prone to damage. They could make a gamepass equivalent entirely built for ps users only but that kinda defeats the purpose when you take pc users into account. Ah well, I’m sure some will still benefit from this none the less and that’s all that matters.
As far as I know, they sell hardware to drive exclusives sales. Not the other way around. They make very little from the consoles themselves. Actually, right now, It's believed they're selling PS5 consoles at a loss.

To purchase said games the same number of units must be sold in consoles also. You’d have to purchase a fair few of exclusives to match the current price of the console itself. Day One is the feature that most seem to be focusing on, but what I'm calling cycle rate is actually what matters here. Game Pass, cycles in a new batch of games every 2 weeks, some of those games tend to be day one. First, 3rd party and indie! And those games tend to do 12 month stays in the service, which PS Now does not. Currently the average in PS Now is between 3 to 6 months. That may change, but that's unlikely. Finally PS Plus and PS Now have a tendency to provide subscribers with the cheapest version( PS4 Version). Smart Delivery always gives you the best version for the platform you're playing on.
Pretty underwhelming tbh. Looks like I have to keep Ps5 as a "exclusive machine" for the foreseeable future. It's unfortunate that we have to buy a console just to play 3-4 good exclusives.

I have been playing doom eternal, outer worlds, Fallout new vegas, Prey, dishonered, NFS games, Dirt rally, mass effect legendary (never got to play them when they launched), Forza, halo collection and older gears games (never had the chance to play them before since I was a playstation only guy) and recently Tunic, Guardians of the galaxy. Still more games left to explore.
@@nitemantube Yeah true. I got tired of Sony's "cinematic third person action adventure games" approach for like 80-90% of their games but some people only enjoy those high quality, high production games. I like to try out all different types of games.

Not really much of a competition… I love ps but Xbox game pass will still be better… My main issue is that if I want to play classic ps3 games, then I NEED to cloud stream them which I don’t want to since my internet isn’t the most reliable connection
@joceja23 they have day 1 games available while sony can't afford to do that which is understandable imo. And xbox would have it better as well because of backwards compatability.... If you're a big fan of the ps1 and ps2 era then what I say won't matter... However if you're with the ps3 era then you have to stream since sony won't let backwards compatability happen on ps5
to be fair most ps3 games have gotten remasters but maybe a few still left, also while on paper it sounds great to be backwards compatible with everything, in actuality only a small percentage of gamers care to play or buy those old games, so the cost to make an emulator, fix as well as upgrade every game to run properly, pay for the expired copyrights and licenses, just isn't worth it...i think they should just keep letting devs do remakes and remasters as they have been
@@gendgree2269 yep plus it's not that bad to wait few months to get the 1st party titles then and in the meanwhile also getting some trials to decide before u purchase them especially since many will want to own physical copies of the must have titles anyways, plus if u are coming in a bit late, u probably have a ton of backlog so those 700+ games should satisfy anyone until more newer ones get added...all depends on one's situation...but yeah it's cool MS has the money to throw everything of theirs day one, but eventually i feel that will either need to get a price increase or as ryan said maybe could cause the budget for the games to be lowered, unless of course the industry dictates it a success and makes everyone Nintendo included to see a viability to do the same, doubt any of us would have a problem with that...but yeah til then plenty to play to really have an issue regardless 🤷♂️
@@melxb most ps3 games yes… that is Sony’s only other way of bringing ps3 games to ps5 but there’s some games that people wish they could play on ps5 like black ops 2, skate, etc. and tbh, sometimes remasters aren’t the most dependable.. I’m still waiting for the next part of final fantasy 7 remake lol, feels like forever since we got news of what’s next. Some people want a remaster or remake but devs sometimes change things with them and it won’t feel the same. Easy. Gamepass actually offers a lot more for less money. You're buying a lackluster emulator with cherry picked legacy titles, the luxury of getting demos from one of the worst companies in the industry when it comes to refunds, and get to pay more than Gamepass; on top of Sony charging more for their games, as well as paid upgrades to their games. If you only have a Playstation, I feel for you. They're getting more and more greedy.

I’ve been a PlayStation user for years so my digital library of games is actually pretty good. I got over 160 games just in my library alone and I RARELY buy games. Last game I bought at full price was Spider man Miles Morales when it FIRST came out and that’s only cuz I’m a hugeeee spider man fan. All other Sony exclusives usually go on sale after a certain amount of time and that’s when I’ll snag it for like 20 dollars or 30 dollars. The new service to me is great because Ima be getting the Extra Tier cuz over 400 PS4 and PS5 games all for 100 a year is great. Idc about ps3 and previous years game because i don’t like nostalgia that much. I just got done playing God of War on PS5 for FREE all cuz I have ps plus, they picked THE best games to put on the “Playstation Plus Collection” of games. All the games have PS5 upgraded features and look and feel like brand new. I don’t think gamepass is that much better than PlayStations offering. The “day one exclusive” have been super Mid games like forza 5 and halo. Those games are mid asf and my brother doesn’t even play those on his Xbox nor does any of our friends or family. Regardless of how u try to shape the narrative, playstation is the place to be at and this new revamped ps plus is gonna make it a even better place to be at

Microsoft has done an amazing job at making gamepass a must have service for all Xbox owners. I just play games on my PC and Switch. So the last 3 years I've been using GamePass Ultimate and PS Now to play the titles from Xbox and PS. Its seriously the best value that's been saving me money so far. Also, I have xbox and ps controllers connected to my pc in case me or another person wants to use them to play. Now sure I have to wait when it comes big PS titles buts that okay cause like said there's game pass and Switch
i can respect this, plenty to play and the must have titles i like to own physical copies of anyways...so i think the trials thing is cool, try a new game for 5 hours and then go and buy it if u like it

The real question , will they offer PS3 games for purchase in the online store cause at this point, it seems like they are offering 100 PS3 games ala cloud streaming which is not REALLY the same thing. PS2 and PS1 game offerings are already available for most people ala emulation, it's PS3 games that'd be a boon for this new service which are not as easily emulated

Multiplayer is an integral part of Playstation and it should not be locked behind a pay wall after spending four or $500 on a brand new console. PC doesn’t make you pay!!! There’s no justification for this! Tier 2 “Extra”: Get 2 monthly games and the 400 game library for 9.99/month or $99/year Tier 3 Premium: should have had ALL PS1,2,3,4,5 titles downloadable (emulation) and streamable with day-1 releases of all titles and include EA Play for 24.99/month or $200/year and add a discount of 10% of subscribed to the annual plan for all PS Store purchases
@@Chowdeer I’m wondering where people get this idea that game pass is not mega profitable. Doing some napkin math, 25 million subscribers $10 a month (not including the people that pay more for ultimate, which I assume is more than half) that’s 250 million a month, 3 billion a year. On top of that they have said people with game pass buy more games than people without game pass. It would seem odd that it would lose money since many of their games are in the top ten in sales the month they come out as well. I’m just going to say that I doubt it’s a bad business model and I give two years before Sony hops on board too.

Their games are great and it’s keeping them afloat, but if any of these giants other than Microsoft were willing to lose money for a decade and put out a real competitor, I’m worried their fan base would be stretched thinner losing them too much money. If those three companies release 3 games a year total, it’s worth it. And they do. Not to mention on top of that they make deals for other AAA games to come out day one as well. And after that there are tons of AAA games that don’t come out day one that get added to the service. You must be spending hundreds of dollars every single month to make game pass not worth it.

They only have scratched the surface with games like FH5, Flight Sim, Psychonauts 2, Halo Infinite, etc. In addition, you can sub to GPU with less than $ 150 for 3 years and share it with one of your friends and have no restrictions of downloading and playing the same games. $ 75 per console, equivalent to $ 2 per month for Game Pass Ultimate.

I’m a Sony guy, but gamepass seems to be so much better. I buy and collect games, so I’ll never do any of these services, but if I did, I’d go game pass all the way.
I was always a Sony guy since ps1 but I bought my daughter an xbox series s for Christmas and I discovered games pass. Complete game changer. Tons of great games you also get EA play. plus the xbox is backwards compatible. I ended up getting myself a series s for upstairs and the x for downstairs. I love xbox.

A yearly subscription is the most value especially when you have other bills to pay. I have no complaints on the playstation plus prices, if i can pay $500 for a game console and the accessories that come with it than i can pay for a game subscription as well without saying its expensive Honestly
As much as I’d like Ps5 exclusives day one, it doesn’t make sense right now. When Microsoft gets the ball rolling with all their publishers is when they’ll probably start to do so.
PS+ Extra on an annual payment basis is the only tier that’s even in the same ballpark (ish) as Game Pass, and even then, not really? Since they don’t have Day 1 downloadable exclusives etc…? Okay, will all the gamers that WOULDN'T like to be able to play new games via their subscription service on the same day they are released, please raise your hand. Anybody... anyone... helloooooo... Back at the start, Sony's leadership (and loads of their fanboys) totally downplayed and criticized Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass strategy. But after its success, they couldn't "rebrand" their service fast enough. I'm guessing that, after much deserved complaints and criticism, they'll "rebrand" THAT decision, too.
As things stands gamepass is the better deal for now. The new PS plus won't be launching til later, so let's wait what they're offering before judging. I plan on getting a PS5 later in addition to my Xbox series x. If the service is worth it then I'll buy one if not I'll stick offline play.

Xbox gamepass 453 games currently, 15$ a month = 180$ a year No yearly sub for discount. PS plus premium 700+ games 18$ a month or 10$ if you buy the yearly sub off 120$.

What new games? Halo, Forza? Those are the laurels Xbox fans have been touting when it comes to Gamepass for months. Plus has more games. If day one games is all that matters, you may as well have just bought those 2 games. Backlog is what makes these services worth it. Would rather play one year old titles I wouldn't have played otherwise while protecting the quality of new releases.
What I see in the far far future is as follows: - Xbox stops making consoles - Gamepass is king, with exclusives growing in quality and quantity - Gamepass comes to PlayStation - Sony stops making consoles - Sony make PS Plus more viable as a subscription service - All games are available to play anywhere via the respective services - Console wars are fought on PC/mobile
PS Plus doesn’t look attractive. Main focus seems to be classic games and if so, it must be cheaper. I also want pause/save and rewind functions like Nintendo online service.

Not really much of a competition… I love ps but Xbox game pass will still be better… My main issue is that if I want to play classic ps3 games, then I NEED to cloud stream them which I don’t want to since my internet isn’t the most reliable connection
@joceja23 they have day 1 games available while sony can't afford to do that which is understandable imo. And xbox would have it better as well because of backwards compatability.... If you're a big fan of the ps1 and ps2 era then what I say won't matter... However if you're with the ps3 era then you have to stream since sony won't let backwards compatability happen on ps5

to be fair most ps3 games have gotten remasters but maybe a few still left, also while on paper it sounds great to be backwards compatible with everything, in actuality only a small percentage of gamers care to play or buy those old games, so the cost to make an emulator, fix as well as upgrade every game to run properly, pay for the expired copyrights and licenses, just isn't worth it...i think they should just keep letting devs do remakes and remasters as they have been
@@gendgree2269 yep plus it's not that bad to wait few months to get the 1st party titles then and in the meanwhile also getting some trials to decide before u purchase them especially since many will want to own physical copies of the must have titles anyways, plus if u are coming in a bit late, u probably have a ton of backlog so those 700+ games should satisfy anyone until more newer ones get added...all depends on one's situation...but yeah it's cool MS has the money to throw everything of theirs day one, but eventually i feel that will either need to get a price increase or as ryan said maybe could cause the budget for the games to be lowered, unless of course the industry dictates it a success and makes everyone Nintendo included to see a viability to do the same, doubt any of us would have a problem with that...but yeah til then plenty to play to really have an issue regardless 🤷♂️
@@melxb most ps3 games yes… that is Sony’s only other way of bringing ps3 games to ps5 but there’s some games that people wish they could play on ps5 like black ops 2, skate, etc. and tbh, sometimes remasters aren’t the most dependable.. I’m still waiting for the next part of final fantasy 7 remake lol, feels like forever since we got news of what’s next. Some people want a remaster or remake but devs sometimes change things with them and it won’t feel the same. Sure there’s pc to emulate however some can’t afford one or can’t put in the time as easy as it is with a console

You're buying a lackluster emulator with cherry picked legacy titles, the luxury of getting demos from one of the worst companies in the industry when it comes to refunds, and get to pay more than Gamepass; on top of Sony charging more for their games, as well as paid upgrades to their games.

Not that bad actually. I only have a PS5 and compared to my brothers series s I’m very happy with my purchase. I’ve been a PlayStation user for years so my digital library of games is actually pretty good. I got over 160 games just in my library alone and I RARELY buy games. Last game I bought at full price was Spider man Miles Morales when it FIRST came out and that’s only cuz I’m a hugeeee spider man fan. All other Sony exclusives usually go on sale after a certain amount of time and that’s when I’ll snag it for like 20 dollars or 30 dollars. The new service to me is great because Ima be getting the Extra Tier cuz over 400 PS4 and PS5 games all for 100 a year is great. Idc about ps3 and previous years game because i don’t like nostalgia that much. I just got done playing God of War on PS5 for FREE all cuz I have ps plus, they picked THE best games to put on the “Playstation Plus Collection” of games. All the games have PS5 upgraded features and look and feel like brand new. I don’t think gamepass is that much better than PlayStations offering. The “day one exclusive” have been super Mid games like forza 5 and halo. Those games are mid asf and my brother doesn’t even play those on his Xbox nor does any of our friends or family. Regardless of how u try to shape the narrative, playstation is the place to be at and this new revamped ps plus is gonna make it a even better place to be at

No one in their right mind is going to want base model Xbox Live when gamepass/gamepass ultimate is a thing. The value is just too good to pass up.
Microsoft has done an amazing job at making gamepass a must have service for all Xbox owners. And until PlayStation matches the first party day-one rhetoric, then gamepass will continue to wear that crown.

I just play games on my PC and Switch. So the last 3 years I've been using GamePass Ultimate and PS Now to play the titles from Xbox and PS. Its seriously the best value that's been saving me money so far. Also, I have xbox and ps controllers connected to my pc in case me or another person wants to use them to play.
Now sure I have to wait when it comes big PS titles buts that okay cause like said there's game pass and Switch

The real question , will they offer PS3 games for purchase in the online store cause at this point, it seems like they are offering 100 PS3 games ala cloud streaming which is not REALLY the same thing. PS2 and PS1 game offerings are already available for most people ala emulation, it's PS3 games that'd be a boon for this new service which are not as easily emulated

Get 2 monthly games and the 400 game library for 9.99/month or $99/year
Tier 3 Premium:
should have had ALL PS1,2,3,4,5 titles downloadable (emulation) and streamable with day-1 releases of all titles and include EA Play for 24.99/month or $200/year and add a discount of 10% of subscribed to the annual plan for all PS Store purchases

@@Chowdeer I’m wondering where people get this idea that game pass is not mega profitable. Doing some napkin math, 25 million subscribers $10 a month (not including the people that pay more for ultimate, which I assume is more than half) that’s 250 million a month, 3 billion a year. On top of that they have said people with game pass buy more games than people without game pass. It would seem odd that it would lose money since many of their games are in the top ten in sales the month they come out as well. I’m just going to say that I doubt it’s a bad business model and I give two years before Sony hops on board too.

Their games are great and it’s keeping them afloat, but if any of these giants other than Microsoft were willing to lose money for a decade and put out a real competitor, I’m worried their fan base would be stretched thinner losing them too much money. I like the three currently in the market and I want it to stay that way.

@@NineTails87 that’s confusing to me. They add about 10 games per month. Every single Xbox and Bethesda game day one. Soon to be activision too. If those three companies release 3 games a year total, it’s worth it. And they do. Not to mention on top of that they make deals for other AAA games to come out day one as well. And after that there are tons of AAA games that don’t come out day one that get added to the service. You must be spending hundreds of dollars every single month to make game pass not worth it.

They only have scratched the surface with games like FH5, Flight Sim, Psychonauts 2, Halo Infinite, etc. In addition, you can sub to GPU with less than $ 150 for 3 years and share it with one of your friends and have no restrictions of downloading and playing the same games. $ 75 per console, equivalent to $ 2 per month for Game Pass Ultimate.

I’m a Sony guy, but gamepass seems to be so much better. I buy and collect games, so I’ll never do any of these services, but if I did, I’d go game pass all the way.
I was always a Sony guy since ps1 but I bought my daughter an xbox series s for Christmas and I discovered games pass. Complete game changer. Tons of great games you also get EA play. plus the xbox is backwards compatible. I ended up getting myself a series s for upstairs and the x for downstairs. I love xbox.

It's the same as they were already doing repackaged. I own a PS5 and Series X. This is not a patch in gamepass.

I have no complaints on the playstation plus prices, if i can pay $500 for a game console and the accessories that come with it than i can pay for a game subscription as well without saying its expensive

As much as I’d like Ps5 exclusives day one, it doesn’t make sense right now. When Microsoft gets the ball rolling with all their publishers is when they’ll probably start to do so.
Sony still isn’t doing anything.
No EA play
No cloud gaming
No day 1 releases
They don’t have Bethesda
They don’t have activision

PS+ Extra on an annual payment basis is the only tier that’s even in the same ballpark (ish) as Game Pass, and even then, not really? Since they don’t have Day 1 downloadable exclusives etc…? But it sounds decent, and is cheaper than even the cheapest version of Game Pass, so at least they got that.
So when r we likely to see exclusives games on sony to start show on the subscription? If it like 6 months I can wait that.

But they expect people to pay a lot more per year for nostalgia. It’s the Nintendo tactic. I’m not sure if they have the IP to do so. Nothing says nostalgia like Mario and Zelda.

Back at the start, Sony's leadership (and loads of their fanboys) totally downplayed and criticized Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass strategy. Xbox gamepass 453 games currently, 15$ a month = 180$ a year No yearly sub for discount.

What new games? Halo, Forza? Those are the laurels Xbox fans have been touting when it comes to Gamepass for months. Plus has more games. If day one games is all that matters, you may as well have just bought those 2 games. Backlog is what makes these services worth it. Would rather play one year old titles I wouldn't have played otherwise while protecting the quality of new releases.

PS Plus doesn’t look attractive. Main focus seems to be classic games and if so, it must be cheaper. I also want pause/save and rewind functions like Nintendo online service.
