  • Freed of London has been making ballet shoes since 1929. Because a ballerina can go through 10 pointe shoes a week, Freed makes thousands of handmade shoes a year. Each pointe shoe has four main components: the sole, toe box, fabric, and elastic.

    • @twineberry
      @twineberry ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have different levels of flexibilities in shanks, it might depend on the brand tho. In Russian Pointes it is marked as FS (flexible soft) or FH (flexible hard) for example
      Longevity could definitely be improved on in general, however that’s another thing that could depend on the brand. If you tend to wear shoes out really quickly trying a different brand might help

    When I did ballet ( around grade 5) I got super conscious on the shape of my box. There not a lot of ballerinas in our area, so we were the first to have toe shoes. Since my feet were very wide, I ordered the toe shoes with a wide box, meanwhile my other friends ordered the narrow box. Ever since I felt self conscious, and it led me quitting ballet. I regretted it now, cause I realized that many ballerinas have wide-box toe shoes. Nevertheless, toe shoes are very expensive, due to me having strong feet, I could easily soften a pair in just about a month, which could be very expensive in replacing for a new one.

      Please don’t play around with pointe shoes. You can get cheap pairs from wish for decor, but for the love of all that is holy don't mess around in them. Go take some ballet classes and wait for them to tell you when your ready for pointe. You don’t have to listen to me though as it is your funeral. Much love ❤️

    • @ryanisaturtlepyc7140
      @ryanisaturtlepyc7140 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are not for playing around, you have to earn them and you could snap your ankle if you don’t have at least two years of ballet training.

    • @twineberry
      @twineberry ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As fun as it may seem please don’t play around in them if you don’t have the proper training it’s very dangerous and easy to hurt yourself. If you want to buy a pair for decoration you should get them on wish so you can save about $70. Also idk if they’ll let you buy pointe shoes if you’re not experienced

    The thing about 10 pairs of pointe shoes is wrong actually that’s only if they have performances, also no you can’t make pointe shoes less painful, you can’t put foam in them it’d be harder to dance in them and lastly thank you for acknowledging that ballerinas work very hard and not to mention that ballet is a physical and mental sport and art

    What does the inside of the toe box look like and is it soft? Also how does it accommodate the bigger toes if it’s made straight across.

    • @idioticbagel2833
      @idioticbagel2833 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are many different types of pointe shoes to accommodate every foot. The box is definitely not soft, but you can get toe pads or paper towels to help protect your toes. Look up what the inside of a pointe shoe looks like your sure to find something, even my local dance shop has pictures of it inside their store.

I think the next time someone asks me that I'll just show then you this video. Even though not all pointe shoes are created like this, they're all some what similar

    to be honest ballerinas if they work really hard they have to change the pairs of their pointe shoes 3 times in 1 day
    a ballerina showed that since its hard to move at the toe box they have to like bend it
    as well as bending the sole
    the toe box is really hard so thats why they have to bend it so ur toes can move inside
    wat im saying is ballerinas have to adjust the shoes so they can actully work
