We've had ours for a few years now. Upgraded shocks from HBX and knocked out a few 3s speed runs with it but I can't find the results. It was a speed monster for its size and price. Now it's a primary big ramp basher for us and has never skipped a beat. Love HBX!!!

Beginners??? These are great fun all around!!! I run mine often out in the yard for a blast around when the more “sophisticated” rigs are reserved for track days!!!

I agree. More than not the large COs like armma and traxxis are bad about underperformance out of the box. Sure they bash well. But you end up dumping a bunch of money into them real quick. It is nice to have starter cars like these and WL for people who dont want to be fixing and upgrading all the time. I got started with those and once i wanted more i bought a Senton 3s. Now its a 4s machine and i cant go back.... But i dont forget my roots!

I built this same car to compete with a mini B on a track. I can assure you with a few modifications this car can also be raced and compete! Great beginner car with huge potential. Awesome video.

I'm very interested about this - I run a little carpet track and would love to give people a cheap option that can compete with Mini-B's. Are the Mini-B's you are racing against stock or brushless/modified? What modifications have you made to the HBX?

@@andrewpfluger9642 absolutely 💯. I slot the motor mount to take a larger .6 pinion size. 16t- 18t are a good range for the plastic gears it has. 2440 4600kv is a strong cheap motor. 1.9 rally tires or buggy tires. The 16889a shocks are great but a little tall so I used 18859a shocks. But if you clip the spring or remove collar from the 16 shocks they will work. Frond and rear bumbers clip them to as flush as you can get them. Another awesome option is the eachine ec30b. Same idea just a little better and 1/14. Removing the center drive turns it into RWD if needed. Its a sleeper for sure.

That's a cool Truggy. I agree. Rc manufacturers need to add oil filled shocks. Also, they all should give the body clips with the black rubber tab. Those are better and not nearly as fiddly.

Great review Ricky! They do make a brushless pro on the truggy! Your 100% right about not including oilfilled shocks. They should be included these days. I love my truggy pro model. I’ve since upgraded the esc ( to handle higher voltage). The only thing that has broke on it is the rear spoiler. (It’s flexible but not unbreakable)can’t agree more in recommending these cars!👍🏻💯😎

Nice video, I love this truggy! I wasn't actually aware it sits lower than the monster truck, good to know!
Yeah, like you said, first thing I did was to replace the shocks on mine, made it way better. They should definitely just include proper dampers, I agree!

Will it run on 3S? I know the manual says 2s only but did you try?

Links dont work but i think i found the oil shocks online 13 bucks for 2 so 26 bucks plus shipping is that a good price

Oil shocks are only 20$ bucks and they make this truck 100% better

Yes. If not cheaper and makes a drastic change

I have the Flyhal FC600, which is practically the same only a little bit cheaper.

Regarding friction shocks etc I would say the same for brushless motors too. They are ten a penny nowadays. brushed motors should be consigned to history. eh Tamiya.
