The 2024-25 FAFSA form is available for students attending college between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025. When you submit your completed FAFSA form, you’ll get an email confirming that we received your form with preliminary information related to your eligibility for federal student aid. We’ll provide your FAFSA eligibility information to your school(s) and state in the first half of March. More information: StudentAid.gov/announcements-...

whyyyyy do you need to invite parents to complete it now? what a hassle. last year my dad would just hand me his tax return and i’d punch in the numbers. he ain’t the best with computers!

This has been EXTREMELY frustrating. Keep stuck in a loop - my kids' end says waiting for parent contribution. On my end, doesn't open up any areas for me to enter financial contribution. Ran into the same thing with my oldest child. This hasn't gotten any better in 2 years - this application process NEEDS to be fixed!!!! So frustrating!!!!!
It is not user friendly at all. Its very confusing and no directions.
So many unnessecary questions I was never asked previously. It just makes me not wanna do it. Its so infuriating

My FAFSA form is not letting me get past the section for verifying my identity, everything is correct and I've tried everything but the continue button just won't budge.

This is a VERY FRUSTRATING PROCESS. I dread this every year. The site really need to be simplified.
I am a mother trying to fill out the FAFSA form 2024-2025, but every time I tried, I get a pop-up message saying that "the system is unable to complete this action". That I should exit and try again. I have been trying since December 2023. This is not normal. I know other parents have been able to filled the form already. What could be happening?

Hello anyone seeing, I tried calling but they don't answer. And also I am a student born in the US with parents that have no SSN. It's been a tough process. Not even done yet. Still half only my side, they can't process their part at all.
Your parents will need to create their own StudentAid.gov accounts. There is a process for parents who do not have SSNs to create an account. Unfortunately, you will not be able to complete your FAFSA submission due to an issue that is preventing parents without SSNs to add their information to the form. Hopefully, this issue will be resolved soon.

My son can't even create an account..he gets to the last step to submit and nothing happens. He's been trying for 3 weeks!
I have two kids in college. So I have this headache in stereo. I have student loans of my own and my fsa id only takes me to my loans. This is frustrating and impossible to complete for my kids. Ugh!!
So has anybody been able to complete one at all yet? I'm in VA and can't get in yet at all despite several things I've seen online that it's up and running

My son went all the way through the FAFSA to the signature line. There was no button to transfer data from the IRS even though he meets all eligibility requirements. In the financial section there wasn't even a way to enter anything manually. Didn't even ask about what he had in checking and savings. Has anyone resolved any of these issues? Has anyone even completed it correctly? I told my son not to submit until we knew for sure. Once you submit, nothing can be changed until after info is sent to schools. I'll take the old form any day rather than this!
Your son may not be required to enter any financial information. At beginning of the new FAFSA, the student gives consent and approval which allows the the federal tax information to be provided for FAFSA. In the past, you would have been given the option to use IRS Data Retrieval Tool to transfer the tax information or you would have entered the information manually. The process is totally different now.
We can sign up already for 24-25?
Whenever I try to open the website it says accesd denied. Anyone else has the same problem or does anyone know how to fix it?
So, are the IRS pulled fields supposed to be blank when we review the fields for the contributor? Also, I was never asked for "current total of cash, savings, and checking accounts" as a contributor. It's blank and that is NOT something that would be pulled from our income tax return. How can we edit any of these fields BEFORE submitting?

My daughter filled hers out and half the required questions were not on there including a parent section, unable to sign anything, no invitation because it says that "your parents refused to provide income information" so she didn't get any SAI information. Says in review and she can't get back into it to fix or change anything. 🤔🙄

Same thing happend to me . I think it's because we selected no to the first question about unsubsidized loan . Now we can't fix it

Yeah same here, the instructions are so unclear. They changed it to make it easier but ended up just making it more complicated and ambiguous. There was nothing about parents or income and my application just says its pending. All I was asked was general, mostly irrelevant, questions and that was it. Hopefully they address this because some people's literal school careers and futures depend on fafsa
As a parent I set up the Student Identifiers, and accidentally put the wrong e-mail address, should be easy to change right? Well, no, any other field can be edited except for this one. Totally stuck may have to delete the form and start over. Any ideas?

Tried filling out but I’m hesitant to submit. It’s really weird. I’m a dependapnt and mother and there’s no option for that your either emancipated or homeless. Than when you review the answers it’s not what you put. I’m going to wait for a bit no rush to submit for now. The whole application is based on very questions 🤦🏻♀️
For the question "Do you have children or other people (excluding your spouse) who live with you and who receive more than half of their support from you now and between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025?" you would answer "Yes" which would make you an independent student for purposes of the FAFSA form. studentaid.gov/apply-for-aid/fafsa/filling-out/dependency
Yes sorry meant to say independent. So when you review before submitting and it says dependents mine says no even though I included the amount of kids.
@federalStudentAid my son picked no to the first question about unsubsidized loan .Is this why we got an error message stating they were unable to calculate SAI😮 because you indicate your parents were unwilling to provide information
What if parents do not file can they still report what they earn per year? And sign to consent?
I dont understand why the previous FASFA form was changed. It’s made things much more difficult.
For me it didn't ask for any information about my parents and i don't live by myself, i live with them. Now it's telling me that my form is not done. Any help?

Everytime I try to log into the Fafsa, it keeps saying error. Is this happening to anyone else? I really want to complete the form but everytime I call and email, no one picks up and I just want to get it done before the deadlines

Same here. My son’s application is now in review. He recd an email that we would need for it to be processed to be able to get in and sign and consent. A complete nightmare, worse than the prev one.
@@tcm3097 Same here, I am a student, and whenever I get to the signature part it sends me back to the first section. Just keeps going in circles. I am glad I wasn't the only one :(( I tried calling them but they said high volume and hung up on my call. No reply from the case yet either. LMK if you ever found a solution please.
Every time I select accept invitation and select continue, it returns back to select invitation. Cannot access the form. Page is not responding

I and my father did the FAFSA form last month and we accidentally submitted it without our signatures. We were waiting for it to get sent back to us as they claim they will be reviewing and fully processing it until the end of January. However when I checked back on the FAFSA form, it was still in review and they claimed we have to wait until the beginning of March to be fully processed.

I am a parent and I am trying to sign my son's FAFSA, but the system continues telling us that "You don't have any cases or applications". On my son's side it says that 2024-2025 case is pending under review and unless is it not signed by the parents it won;t be considered at all, I called with no results, emailed FAFSA, try to chat with them and no one replied. It is very frustrating, I am afraid to miss the deadline. What would you recommend to do?
Same here. After my son signed, he recd an email that no student index number could be given and that he would not be eligible for fed aid if the parent did not sign or consent. I then tried to sign and consent with my log on and the application was now in “review” status, unable to access. The email my son recd said we would need to wait till it is “processed” for me to sign and consent. Yes, this is a nightmare. Worse than the previous FAFSA.

@@natashadeyanova5373 I finally spoke to a rep at FAFSA. You have to keep calling until you get put on hold for the next rep. I found out that they expect the forms to process on 1/31 and the best thing to do is wait for it to come out of review and in is processed status. Here, you should be able to view and correct the application. They also suggested starting a new application. They told me the latest one will replace the former. But I am skittish about doing this and making a bad situation worse. I expressed to them my concern about school deadlines. Rep assured me all schools are aware. Its in their best interest because if we don’t get our kid’s fed loans or grants, the schools don’t either. Schools won’t like that. Best I can say is wait for it to process. I think this is what I will do also. When I get in and review it, if need be I can start a new application. Best of luck to everyone and know you certainly are not alone!

It doesnt apply to foreign countries like Zambia cause on mobile phone number verification its doesn't allow to put the valid code and it requires email too which wotk

Any idea how I can add my spouse information on the 24-25 fafsa form? He does not have a ssn. We have tried putting all zeros but still the system doesn’t let us move forward. I need help to see how we can overcome this since the form is requesting his info since he is a contributor

It’s not as user friendly as the one from last year and it’s not allowing to put zeros on the parents’ ssn section. Either admit your mistakes and fix this shit or I’m going to start believing that you guys are doing this on purpose.

You have to be 24 or older. 1 more year till you can apply alone and actually qualify for aid. I've got 5 to go D:

Whoever made the changes to the form and decided to screw up tax info being transferred, making us have to fill in tax information manually, should be fired!We don’t all have access to previous taxes easily. Why can’t the info be transferred like last year? This form is horribly frustrating. Saying it takes 15 minutes to fill out is a lie!!!!

I keep on getting "You have entered an invalid response in the "Social Security Number" field. Delete the response you entered and then select Help (?) for more details." Whenever I try to make a fasfa account for my parents litterally every time no matter how much I correct it, do u have any advice?
