How to Create an Account and Username (FSA ID) for StudentAid.gov

- Walk through the process of creating your own Federal Student Aid (FSA) account username and password, also known as an FSA ID. Your FSA ID can be used to securely log in to U.S. Department of Education websites such as StudentAid.gov.
You’ll also learn how to set up two-step verification to better protect your identity and account information.
If you plan to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form when it becomes available on Oct. 1, you (and your parent if you're a dependent student) should create an FSA ID as soon as possible.

Should i creat FSA ID if i willing to study in Mason University?
Anytime in the last couple days when I click create account the loading wheel just spins and a new page never loads. I have tried Safari and Chrome.

i did apply for the SSN and i received the receipt that show i applied for the SSN and wait for one more week to get my SSN so my question can i apply for the FAFSA ?
I would phone them. But it used to be that you fill out everything you can, get to the end, print it, physically sign it, then mail it in. I hope this helps but check into it please.

Starting in December 2023, parents or spouses will be able to create a StudentAid.gov account without having an SSN to access their portion of your FAFSA form. On the 2024-25 FAFSA form, if the parent or spouse is completing their own section and doesn't have an SSN, the SSN will be blank and disabled. If the parent or spouse has an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), they should add it to the FAFSA form. If they don’t have an ITIN, they should leave that question blank.

As a parent/contributor do I need to create my own FAFSA account? When I try, I'm told my information is already attached to an account. When I log in with my student's credentials, his information comes up. So confused!!

The 2023-24 FAFSA form opens Oct. 1. If you will be attending college between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023, you should file a 2022-23 FAFSA ASAP at studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. In other words, the 2022-23 FAFSA will apply to Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters for most schools.

Students, do you have a school counselor or a teacher you can get questions answered or assistance? Find someone in your school or local library who may be able to assist you. I read some of the comments/questions.
Yeah and to the students. School counselors are a help. But if they don’t have the information you need and you have an idea of what college you want to go to, all colleges have financial aid offices where you can call and ask any questions you might have.

Umm anyone else having trouble with parents with no snn, like after creating a fss ID there is another verification process after creating an account
Did you get this problem fixed? I'm having trouble with it too and now I'm afraid I straight up wont be able to go to college now because of this stupid problem.
@@availaboi6143 Sadly nope, but fasfa finally recognized the problem, and claims they will fix mid March.
ED urged applicants to wait for the permanent fix if possible, but has offered a workaround process by which impacted applicants can submit an online FAFSA without the contributor’s signature in order to obtain a confirmation email with an application submission date. The confirmation email can be used as documentation of FAFSA submission if needed for state, institutional, and/or private aid deadlines. However, because the contributor’s consent, approval, and signature are missing,the process will result in a rejected FAFSA without a Student Aid Index (SAI). Once processing and corrections are available these students will be notified that they will need to make corrections. Once the contributor provides their consent and approval via their FSA ID, the reject will be resolved. ED reiterated in its announcement that this workaround is intended only for applicants with a critical state or institutional deadline to meet in order to receive financial aid.

When I get to the mailing address part and finish and click continue it does nothing.
⭐Update!!!!⭐: I called them and they said it's because when my daughter did her potion of the process it automatically made my account so the guys there said to wait 3 days and then call back to finish the process because the social security office needs to process my part before i can continue finishing the account.
Did you get an update by chance? I created my parent id first and I am having trouble with my daughters acct. it won’t let us move forward during the address part.

@@viviandoherty6097 I would assume your experiencing what I'm experiencing in that when you made your account it automatically made your daughters by the information you put in so your gonna have to wait till the social security part processes through. They say it takes 1 to 3 days but I'm still waiting and it has been about 6 days for me maybe because being so close to the holidays.
