Doyle is the nicest guy ever. He was a guest at the church I used to play at and I asked him a simple question about his picking technique but the conversation was soon interrupted. Later that morning, I got a text from the worship pastor saying "Doyle is asking for you". I go to the back, and Doyle is sitting in one of the offices with two chairs and two guitars, and he gave me a lesson (and let me film it) for about an hour.
That’s so cool! I got to meet him about 3 weeks ago at my church. He signed my guitar, found out I was a worship leader, and prayed for me. It must have been cool to get a lesson from him!
This is a lovely mini concert. I especially loved “How Great Thou Art” it was my Father-in-Law’s favorite. When he died I was allowed to keep the framed sheet music he had on his wall. Many Merry Christmases to Doyle🎼🎶🎄

My dad always loved listening to Doyle Dykes. My dad played guitar and was decent but never gave himself much credit on his own ability. My dad passed away on Christmas Eve 2017, but I come back to Doyle Dykes guitar videos to remember my dad and his love for Doyle's music.

@@30smsuperstrat Roy was a flat picker. He could not do the fingerstyle that Doyle, and others do. It's a different world. Roy's forte was showmanship! He was a great performer. I saw him many times and he never disappointed. Check out Doyle's rendition of Wabash Cannonball at the NAMM show several years ago.
