Imagine if we had Twitter in 2004 when the Red Sox came back from a 3-0 series deficit against the Yankees. 3-0 would probably become the "28-3" or "Ws blew a 3-1 lead" of baseball for the social media age.

I’m a life long falcons fan, and was at SOI (marine infantry school) and we had a big uso event and they showed us the Super Bowl at the theater. I was the only one pulling for the falcons, I talked so much shit all night, and then the 4th quarter happened. I didn’t say a word the rest of the night, it’s one of the only times (and the first) where sports made me truly speechless. I haven’t loved the nfl the same since that night

To be fair that 28-3 loss is not about Brady or the Pats, it’s about the Falcons melting down, specifically thee coaches. If the guys in charge of the Falcons had just made the correct decisions in a hand full of moments the Pats would not have been able to stop them. They basically sat on the other side of the field and watched the Falcons HC and OC commit suicide and took advantage

If the team is still in the playoff hunt by a certain point in the season, even if they haven't officially clinched a playoff spot, they still need to have playoff tickets for sale. This helps prevent massive internet traffic potentially crashing ticket purchasing websites if they don't clinch until the last game of the season.

Away goals in soccer actually only matter when the aggregate score is tied after both legs of the round. If Team A wins first leg against Team B 2-1 while playing at home and Team B wins Team A 1-0 at home in the second leg- Team B gets through to the next round on away goals. The total aggregate reads 2-2 but Team B scored one goal on the first leg while playing as the away team.
there was a better one IMO for the mets where it was the very last day of the season and the tweet was something like how “the mets will be the first team since -- to not balk the whole season” and like 3 minutes later the same guy tweets “THEY JUST BALKED I CANNOT MAKE THIS UP”
My personal favorite will always be the Jags’ “NOT SATISFIED WITH 1-0” as well.

The more Sports tweets I watch that didn’t age well, the more I blame the actual team itself for letting the social media team down.
I remember the cowboys thought they would have the chance of making the playoffs last year after they thought they would make it all the way. Well how did that go for them? Not great since my Green Bay packers destroyed them in the first round. Don’t let the final score fool you however. The cowboys never had it close. The only reason they almost came back is because we (for whatever reason) took all our starters out and they caught back up on us. It’s like the old saying goes “When the cowboys lose, America wins!”
