Nick Anderson. He missed four critical free throws in Game 1 of the 1995 NBA Finals, on June 7, 1995. His misses allowed the Houston Rockets to force overtime and win the game, and eventually sweep the series 4-0. It ultimately was a short blip, but there was about a five-year stretch where there was a real debate as to whether Chris Paul or Deron Williams was the best point guard in the NBA. From 2008 to 2012, Williams averaged 19.5 PPG and 10.2 APG and guided the Jazz on some decent playoff runs. Williams was even a major contributor to the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Gold Medal teams. For whatever reason, Williams career really fell off once he turned 29 and he was out of the NBA before he turned 33 years old. So, while he clearly lost the battle with Chris Paul for Point God, he was still a star in the league for half a decade.

Ngl, the NBA is not a league for unidimensional players anymore. After Howard and Rondo downfall in 2012-2014, players not only need to be good/great in one department, they need to be average or good in others. You can't be a good shotblocker and slow with your feet. You can't be a great three point shooter and average in every other offensive aspect of the game. Joe Harris is a good NBA role player, but with or without the injuries, if he has an off shooting night, he is not contributing to winning.

I swear across all of sports they need to make some rule changes that punish teams for putting players at unnecessary risks, even if said player is wanting to go back out there still needs to be safeguards in place. Maybe the first set of punishments are fines and then they start taking away draft picks. I know the NHL does have a little bit of something in place (forgot exactly how the rules are) but if they want to make a point across on player safety, they really need to get a system in place for where the players aren’t being pushed too far, otherwise history is going to repeat itself over and over again.
