Hi men! I lovie youre reviews. I am lookink for advice. I want to build power strip using furutech fi-e30 gold schuko sockets. What internal wires do you recommend? I like warm more warm sound.
I've found the performance of the PF2 mkii is quite dependent on the power cable from the wall myself. Does have a tendency to sound thin when paired with certain cables, and generally favors 10awg or more. At least in my system anyway. Certainly an improvement over a budget strip.
Only the Isol 8 min sub axis and above models. Personally i feel that pricewise, everything below the mini sub axis is a waste of time, if you want a last powerbar that will make you happy for the rest of your life. So yeah I can imagine that the lower isol 8 boxes and together with AQ niagara 1000 and pf 2 mk2 gigawatt are a really good upgrade for most people, where they will feel a lot of potential. But end destination sound, is clearly for me the mini sub axis.
@@RealHIFIHelp Thanks. Or maybe just get rid of regenerators, conditioners and what have you, and just install top quality AC power outlets and use top quality mains-cables? Simple is good, right? :)
@@earkivaren Yes and no. I tried it. It is better than normal with more taste/style/personality. But you can't go deep into the detail without something like a power regenerator. And especially get that black level. Sound has a tendency to get too original/spicy/putting to much bloat/blur on certain details. (sound gets very messy unless you have crazy level of gear) Yes it can in a way be very nice/original/heavy/colored in a very natural way. But the ultra detail, movement, mikro detail, black level, separation, volume control totally disappears and puts a much higher demand on the gear you own, so you have to invest a lot more money. Get the mini sub axis and do all the power stuff, that is the most important thing in a system. That thing alone having proper power, can save you 100k over 10-30 years time. Just get the mini sub axis, or integra substation those are the only natural ones I know of that also are relatively cheap. Most power conditioners clean the sound while locking it into a certain mode.
If I have a dedicated line already would a Isol 8 Powerline be sufficient? Or what would you recommend if budget was around 1000 us $ . I’m fine with buying used.
I recommend a mini sub axis used, that maybe is around 1000 dollars. I have not tried the cheaper isol 8 products below that model, only mini sub axis and above. I am guessing this specific box is around 1300 dollars new. You can also get the better substation integra for about twice the price, but I don't find it to be worth the extra money, even though it is maybe 15% better. I recommend doing everything you can do in terms of power: earth connection, inwall cable that is at least cardas or gigawatt, gigawatt circuit group and oyaide swo - xxxe power plug and then like 3 different powercables with 3 different plugs to find which dits you system better. Having that as a base, will make evertyhing else you do, react a lot more and save you money, because then everything reacts like 3x more. Take for example the old mcintosh ma7000 model. Not nearly as good as the new ma9000 model. But if the old ma7000 amp ran with all of the stuff I mentioned, and the ma9000 just ran with a 5 dollar powerbar and 5 dollar standard cable. The ma7000 would still destroy the ma9000 without any problem. It would just be so much more relevant/personal/intimate. Simply because the whole support system to the ma7000 finds the best way of it sounding good/relevant. While the other normal system, would totally deflate the sound in many ways.

Thanks for a great video. Do you have any experience with or knowlegde of the Isol-8 powerbars? I’m thinking about the Powerline series.
