  • In this episode I meet some of my followers in Swedish Lapland and she tells me about discovering her Sami roots. Later I meet Jomi, who is also Sami and has his herd of reindeer up in the mountains. He was asked by his friend, the owner of my accommodation, to show me to the place. Along the way he teaches me which trees to use to built a good fire - best tips I ever got!!

Hello, Carina. It was lovely to meet you and hear your stories. I live in the New York Catskill Mtns where our deer are the northern white-tail (Odocoileus virginianus borealis), rather than caribou. It was nice to hear that herders receive compensation for a deer that is killed on the road.

This is what sets Noraly apart from most other adventure bike channels. No partying and blasting fast over the roughest terrains. But exploring and sharing the countries with her special interest in geology. Rather than partying having an interest in the local people and ask intelligent questions.

The young Dutch woman recognized by an older Laplander. Wow! I’m sure many of Noraly's more senior viewers in the U.S. remember the old Mary Tyler Moore show. The theme song comes to mind each time I watch an Itchy Boots video. "Who can turn the world on with her smile? ...Who can take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?... Well it's you girl and you should know it.. . With each glance and every little movement you show it.... Love is all around, no need to waste it, You can have the why don’t you take it. You might just make it after all."

Noraly, I'm from Swedish & Dutch descendants so your vlog has really piqued my interest to plan some travel in The Netherlands and Sweden. I just discovered that my Grandfather immigrated from Holland in 1892 at the age of 8 years old a few months ago. Seeing a copy of the census log was incredible for me as I always thought I was 100% Swedish. I'm so proud to know that I'm also Dutch! Love all your posts & appreciate your hardwork and talent. Travel safely.

I think you master the Swedish language like a BOSS Noraly!
The other video when you read on the closed restaurant, completely understandable.
My Dutch would be unrecognisable to everyone :)
The really odd thing is that in south of Sweden we say Umeå, but in Umeå they say only Ume.
Same with Luleå, seems to be Lule.
Someone from nothern parts will correct me if i'm wrong.

So beautiful! Would love to go there someday. I am from the United States, I live in Anna,Illinois. Lots of history here with the Native American people. Actually our farm is on the Trail of Tears. I absolutely love your videos and how positive you always are.i have been a subscriber since Season One, this is my first comment. Thank you so much for sharing these amazing adventures. Safe travels to you..

Interestingly, the Same people of the Northern countries and Russia, share a lot of cultural similarities with Native Americans. Like, a lot! For example they sing almost identically. Here, their singing is called the Jojk (pronounced joy-k). Also clothes and rituals, not to mention spiritual views and beliefs are all very similar. Probably, they share some history not too long ago, relatively speaking.
