Fun video. Thanks Dean and Eli. Like you Dean I enjoy troubleshooting those old Volvos. Now not only can Eli keep the car. He can get the parts together to do a manual swap video with you. Looking forward to what you do next.
Thanks Dean and pointy finger! For taking us on this repair trip! That phoneholder is fab! Doctor Dean makes a house visit! Is your 240 or Amazon not feeling well ; call Dr Dean! 😜👍🏻👍🏻🆙 like allways!
3.73:1 would be stock for an Aw70 B23/230 non-turbo 240. Anyway, seems like Eli now has a second Volvo to permanently add to his collection. He just needs to swap it to a M46 and finish fixing it up cosmetically, and get the brakes working properly.
Love your channel man!! My dad owned a 240, a 740 and a 940 when i was younger. I own a Volvo 480 myself, i've always found it sad the 480 wasnt introduced in the USA, would've loved to see one on your channel. - Cheers from The Netherlands!
Thank you sir! I just want people to enjoy their experience with these old cars! They are easy and rewarding to work on. Sometimes a little help like in this situation here is enough to reignite the love someone has for a project!
Felt this. I actually overhauled the ignition on the 144t this weekend. I couldn't get a consistent spark at boost through anything wider than .025. It would also just progressively get less and less ignitey as the car warmed up. It always felt like it was running on one lung. New MSD 2 and wires I made myself and holy Dyna it's never actually driven this good ever before in my entire history with it. I didn't know what I was missing. It's actually spookily fast now. Point being, ignition problems are like slow moving cancer. Everything kinda works well enough until one day your arm falls off or something.
Looking at the cap and rotor I would say your timing is off and has been for a long time. If the distributor is out of adjustment, the timing belt is off a tooth at the intermediate shaft.
Actually is that Amazon imported from the beginning because it says 4 speed manual transmission on the dash? Never seen that before not even on the old volvos here in sweden..
@@NOSPEEDSHOP Nice, i missed that ones then... Nice work on the car, much nice than my own -65 4dr but its a work in progress.. Keep up the good work on your other projects...

Thats a very good point. The car is probably due for timing belt and water pump too.
did you check the membran of the gasoline pressure regulator?
It has a brand new FPR on it. We are assuming its fine.
