Two weeks ago, I posted a video on my Instagram @Lindsey of me singing Joji's song "Glimpse of Us" with new lyrics from the perspective of the woman in the song. I was completely shocked to receive 6M views on that post! It brought so much love and support to me out of nowhere, and I'm so grateful for every like, comment, share, and DM I received about it. After thousands of requests, I'm thrilled to present you with the full song! Making the full version of this song has been incredible. What I love about this version is how understanding the girl is about the situation. She knows that the guy wants to move on but he's stuck. Her heart is broken but she knows she can't change him. The resignation in this song is so tragically kind. That's what makes it so beautiful

I agree. Shes not angry or cruel, even though she has every right to be. Its a sad understanding and a quiet goodbye which shows us what the original version tells us about her. She is loving and kind and everything he needs but can't hold on to because hes trapped in his emotions for his ex.
I've personally had a break up like this, I started to head in a different direction as her in terms of life, and as time went on the differences of what we want to do got too noticeable, I wanted that to change, and she was doing so much already. One day I tell her that I'm at crossroads of what to do, but also told her I want to keep our relationship. A few days later she broke it off with me, saying she resigns as a girlfriend. We had a good thing going we even had a future planed. Reminded me of that day, totally balling.
This brings out how truly sad both versions are, especially if you listen to them side by side

It hit me hard too. I was dating a “straight” guy for a few months, though he would never let any of his friends know about it and wouldn’t talk to me around other people. Although I really liked him, and I think he did too, he was embarrassed of me. The line made me burst into tears because of that for real.

That's what's makes this song so tragic... Because no matter how much she loves him, no matter how much he might regret losing her in the future, right now he's not in place to return that love.
the feelings are so complicated, they're everything but logical, if you're damaged or if the past relationship was interrupted and didn't ended naturally it fixes as "the love of your life" and it's very difficult to surpass that standard for a new relationship 🤷

Hey, I know this is just a random comment but I wanted to vent 😅. I always used relationships to define myself kinda like you mentioned in your comment. My last relationship ended with me getting cheated on. Now im single and working on myself (doing boxing and hopefully competing in a few months!) But i noticed that whenever a girl flirts with me and we have good energy, its super distracting, because I have this urge to take it forward purely because I always have felt like im happiest in a relationship. Idk how to break that distraction, Im not ready to date yet, and short term flings always bring negativity in my life. Any advice?
@@epicipodmodz No worries! I’m not sure how far along you are in your healing process, but I can tell you that you’re doing well working on yourself. It’s perfectly okay to want to take a something forward but for where you are right now, I feel that the relationship you should be trying to pursue is one with yourself. if you’re able to put that time and energy into yourself rather than seeking out that relationship, I think you’ll find that you’ll eventually be in the best relationship of your life. you should be your number one priority, no matter what, and nothing about that is selfish. i think if you do, you’ll find a girl that’s already interested in you, and interested in the way you carry yourself. it will be a mutual feeling of wanting to pursue each other and being in a relationship with someone who understands that part of you will not be a distraction to you in the long run. and the fact that you’re trying to be better now, for something that was never your fault - tells me that you are a great person, and you deserve more than happiness itself. i hope this makes sense!! i’m sorry if it doesn’t, i’m pretty scatter brained right now

This songs speaks to the pain of my early years as a husband who tried to be a good husband in what was the most toxic relationship I've ever known...it hurts to hear but is freeing at the same time. Picking up the pieces after the divorce to find that I can now walk with my chin up. Thank you for this version, it's moving in ways that broken hearts -and those that have healed- could only understand.

Wow, even months later when this comes up it still brings me to tears.
A character I created was put exactly into this kind of situation with their partner. Very gentle, devoted and kind to a fault had a partner and adored said partner unconditionally to pieces, did everything they could to be the kind, loving support they knew their partner needed, but always deeply hurt knowing that they would never experience being shown the same love as they showed their partner, who was mourning and stuck on the sudden death of the one that came before. But still the character still gave their unconditional kindness and love until their beloved also died. The story is incomplete, but as it stands they then become the one from the other side, and the painful tragic cycle continues.
When I first caught the clip of this song, wow did it hit home more than the original because while breakup/loosing songs may be common, the selfless, tragic kindness here hits on such a deep, painful level enough to make me tear up. It hurts on a fundimentally indescribable level to see such a beautiful, selfless kindness be given only heartache in response.
This version is amazing! I admire how this version accepts (sadly) the reality of her man not being over his ex and she lets him go. Such maturity

This is so much more raw than the original. It goes to such a darker place than the original in my opinion because of the resignation to her fate while still being sympathetic to the situation that caused it is heartbreaking. The way you nuanced the feelings of the third party as it were is so well done in such a tragically beautiful way and I absolutely love it. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it if you did a mashup with joji. There's no shot it's as good as the original as they can't be compared for a lot of reasons, but it's really, really good(so good that if this was the original, it would've been song of the year, just like the original is). I don't think it's right to compare the two- but the fact that you thought of making this and did such a good job delivering it, makes me both happy and impressed.
Not only are the vocals a fresh take, giving it a slightly different feeling; the Chorus is absolutely amazing. It incorporates the original song and the Joji-quality PERFECTLY(despite being different), while still having the slightly different vibe of being "her perspective". I'm very uncomfortable because of a wrist injury, but it's worth it; and it's worth delaying my recovery by taking the time to type this.
