So... Ironically the less money you need the more money you can earn

It is exactly like "high value men" or attractive women. Men with higher social value have more options and can therefore choose better sexual or career options. This is usually presented with higher socio-economic wealth. Beautiful young women are the same, since they are rare and they have many options.

The "How am I supposed to do this?" question from "Never split the difference" has been a gamechanger, and the whole book has been VERY useful in general. Not BS, as far as I'm concerned.

Negotiation is one of the first principles of trade. Economics is fundamentally based on the principles of trade.
If you can position yourself to have more demand and options for your limited supply of time and skill, you win by creating scarcity and increasing perceived value.

You're probably not gonna believe this, but there are people and companies that won't accept a price increase no matter how good the freelancer is and no matter if they have no other provider that is even remotely as good. They are so cheap , they wouldn't pay a dime more even if their life depended on it or if they went bankrupt - which happens sometimes. A company I used to work with went bankrupt precisely for this reason - they refused to pay the market price for good freelancers and preferred to hire incompetent ones and they got sued by their own end customers. Another company I worked with refused to accept a long overdue price increase by only 10% and didn't reply to my emails but then they were the ones who started calling me desperately becauae I was the best and they had a big client for a big project. I don't work in programming or web design, but it doesn't even matter.

This is true but it's also a red flag. These kinds of clients are almost always headaches to work with and often are not worth the money or effort when compared to how much work it takes to get them to approve things or to pay you.
It's better to exercise your negotiation skill and simply walk away from those kinds of companies. Plus it shows them that they may be making a mistake which they can learn from and adjust - or be stubborn and possibly lose money/go out of business like in your example. Either way it's not your problem, and it's more advantageous to move onto the securing your next potential client.

@@illaisland True. Now I only work with certain clients but back then I was a beginner and I had no money or financial support from anyone so I had to take what I could get in order to support myself. Now I would rather starve than work with that kind of client. It's simply not worth the hassle

You can also convince the person they don’t have as many options as they think they have.

Nice work with the cut aways and animations etc. I'm not a fan of them I think there's too much going on. Not being negative just sharing my thoughts and feedback.

I am literally laughing now🤣🤣🤣. This happened to me today. I raised the price for a certain client, I thought he was going to complain, but he was like, ok just do it.
