OK Bill. I love the video but IMHO i think you missed an important piece. There is another character who Micheal looked up to. He sees this character as the cool guy ( the sterotypical toxic male behaviours and all) he is someone who Michael would have looked up to in highschool. who everyone likes, and he patterns himself after. Once he realizes this character isn't all he is cracked up to be and is actually liked at all moves away from acting like him. That character is outside Sales Rep Todd Packer.
In fairness, it was not unethical for corporate to make Toby Michael's counselor. It was a conflict of interest because of how Michael treated Toby but Toby had never actually mistreated Michael and he even made an honest effort to help Michael.
@@10KProductions True but at the same time, Toby's job as HR permits him to do this. Would it be unethical if he were giving counseling to someone like Oscar or Kevin?
When I watched that I kept thinking "this is so much like the office but it lacks soul" stromberg is such an unlikeable character and he's never given any redeeming qualities. I found it painful to watch tbh
Aggressive title but very very very very very good video. Thank you. This is maybe the first Office video ive seen on TH-cam that represents the next level of analysis for the series that can see it catch up with the S tier of shows (aka the “Golden Age of TV” that began with The Sopranos). This is analysis that wasnt necessarily considered even by the creators at the time but still apply nonetheless and signify a certain scholarship around the show that only exists for a few series so far. That was possibly the most pretentious sentence ive ever written but that just goes to show how advanced this video is compared to the run of the mill office analysis videos on here. Thank you, sincerely
Don’t take this the wrong way, but your videos help me sleep. your in depth analysis gives me a focus point to help me break the constant cycle of thoughts. Keep it up man 🤟
great vid as always. instant click when I see you posted. one thing I did disagree with is around the 9:30 mark when you said Michael was fully supportive of Jims love for Pam. I agree with the point your making, how Michael treating the office as a family grew to become what they love him for, but I don't think Jims crush is the best example. Michael repeatedly refused to acknowledge their relationship for a good when in the beginning, ("I have some experience in office romance" "who, pam?" "yes, were still dating") and kinda outwardly had a crush on pam. don't mean to come across as rude at all, just wanted to give my two cents! Hope to see more office content!!
HAHAHAH back in the day nobody was fond of therapy? not even today, i been schedulled by my country government to take therapy and i bailed the first day, they got nothing to say relevant to my life, how can they help? i cannot believe you would like that. My therapist need a therapist, i'm basically a renegade angel at this point.
Anarchist? Okay, go life at yourself then. And you can't go to the doctor, supermarket, police station, or other 'horror' capitalistic places. You have to be self sufficient
What should I talk about next? Comment it here!
What can we expect from the upcoming Community movie and what your expectations for it?
Toby, please Toby.
I’d love to cover the movie when it comes out. I definitely plan on doing that at some point when it releases
beavis and butt-head king of the hill or south park

I think Michael Scott is a prime example of great character progression. I love that you're doing a deep dive!

It's considered "unethical" in the therapy/counseling world to have a dual-relationship with a client.

Also yes. Counselors aren’t supposed to have any prior or post relationships of any kind with their clients.
@@10KProductions Fair enough then. Your wife is probably impressed.
I also know the German 'the office' where the German Michael is stuck in season 1 US Michael

Glad you enjoyed it, friend.
The Office is a great example of writing characterization in a natural way without a lot of exposition.
10K to get me through the day
Happy to help
woah I could've sworn I subbed to this channel with 1k subs 5-6 years ago. Good to see you're on the up.
thanks for being here, friend.
I always had that feeling that I don’t. Now let’s see if you can make that feeling go away.👀
I think the most Michael Scott moment of all time is him saying "look around you, these are your best friendss" and everyone has a kill me now face.
9:29 - Pam's Horrendous Art show :c
That’s maybe phrased not so good. I more meant the show itself was horrendous rather than the art
@@10KProductionsyeah her art was pretty good just nobody had showed even for the others

Michael Scott is literally me
Was kind of expecting some kind of Darth Jar Jar type conspiracy
Left me satisfied and smiling

Toby is the lemon head. Toby is a waste of life and he should give up. I hate the character Toby in general.
Michael Scott is not complex. Michael Scott is a child. Everyone understands Michael Scott.

As an anarchist, I just don't like the show very much, and would prefer a worker revolution as the finale
