Despite being an avid crochetter and knitter for years, I've never owned a high quality thoughtfully constructed project bag. My current project bags are those cloth drawstring bags that new bed sheets come in. It seemed like a waste to throw them out, so they became my project bags.
Oh what a great series of comments to read! I am in Canada, but my project bag was sewn by my grandma when I was 10 years old. It is sturdy and holds everything. She taught us to knit when we were tiny, and now I am using the bag to hold my very first sock project. Looking forward to researching all these great makers!
I’m a new knitter, and I’m loving the Crafters Deluxe Storage Bag I got from Darn Good Yarn. It has dividers and pockets to sort and organize my yarns and knitting tools, and it came filled with lots of wonderful goodies to help me get started, including a selection of yarns, needles, and knit markers. But, it’s huge and more for storage than a project bag. So this would be wonderful for me!
I love your bags! They're so cool and roomy! I love all those pockets! Honestly, all of my favorite project bags are ones I've made or plan to make; I use colorful cotton fabrics. I used to knit lace shawls, exclusively, to give to my lovely sister-friends, then I added socks for me and my mom. Each shawl I knit for one of them came with a hand-stitched (by me) small project/storage/gift bag. I'd stitch the bag while the shawl was drying/blocking (I wet block). I kept the first bag I made for myself, and I still use it. I started knitting as a student and couldn't afford project bags AND yarn. So, I used ziplock bags until I made one of my own. By the way, I still stash my wool projects in ziplocks, then stuff the plastic bag into one of my Ayesha-made project bags, or some random tote. (I like to make sure they're protected from spills and wool-eating insects.)
I tend to make my own project bags, or use ones I’ve found at the thrift stores. I really like these vintage plastic totes for projects, they have a compartment at the top that’s entirely separate that is perfect for any notions (and honestly snacks) that I want separate from the yarn, but close by.
This is going to sound completely egocentric, but my favorite project bags I have made myself. After completing an ice skating costume for a client's skating daughter, I had remembered that she didn't have a garment bag, so I pulled out some ballistic cordura nylon in three colors, a few heavy duty zippers, some velcro and went to it. I ended up with a garment bag which had the skater's name running down one side of the front, storage space in the bag and a pocket on the outside to hold snacks and a water bottle. From there, I ended up making fitted carry bags for my machines, accessories, tools and supplies, as well as some others which are great for any variety of projects. Being in the Portland OR area, with a few incredible fabric stores, the possibilities are endless! Great channel, fun video and thank you for sharing so much with your fans!
I do prefer draw spring bags as well. Erin Lane makes a lovely bag as does Toad Hollow. I have also purchased bags from The Fat Squirrrel, these are zippered bags. I am also fortunate enough to have friends who sew. All the makers mentioned make fabric bags.
I'm kind of a project bag hoarder. My favorites are the Tom Bihn Swift for large projects, a mini Madder Root Maine Trundle Bag for socks and my #03 Hide and Hammer for mid-sized projects. I also love my Fringe Field Bags though.
I make a lot of my own bags, but I bought the towne bag and a field bag before they stopped making them and they are amazing! They fit any project I’m working on and are so durable!
I love Erin Lane project bags. She makes all different sizes. All kind of unique patterns. Thank you Caleb for the opportunity to win this project bag kit!! How awesome!! Love your videos! Your voice is so soothing!
Great video! I really enjoyed it. You actually mentioned one of my favorite project bags. Paisley and gold. I have two in size small and a olive one too. I loved them so much I bought it for friends. I also love bags from Megan makes do and sweet Lou snuggles 🥰
My absolute favorite project bag is the Blanket Tote from The Scrappy Angel! I keep a blanket project in one and I have a second one that I keep a sweater project in with plenty of room to spare. I also love her large Retreat Bags. They've got a wire frame to hold them open and it truly makes them feel like Mary Poppins bottomless carpet bag with how much you can fit in those things.
One of my favorite project bags is the Over the Wrist Tote made by Rick of Whimzee Stitches. It’s reversible and especially great for on the go knitting.
I only have one "official" project bag which is a very nice one...yet not my favorite style. I do see and would love to make that one in your give away. Thanks for the chance to win it!
I have never had a professional project bag...I been using a yarn bag from Amazon...It's okay..I also just use random bags from Goodwill..I haven't found one that is easy to use yet. The ones that you have shown in your video are beautiful and very yarn project friendly...I may have to buy one for sure.. Thank you for the review on your project bags❣❣
I actually make my own project bags! Since I also love to sew, and fabric is a lot less expensive to buy. Those bags of your though are great! I’ve never sewn any kind of canvas before. That would be fun to try. Thanks for the video!! 🌸
I Love Hide & Hammer bags. I have all the different sizes and never leave home without one. And randomly I also got my boyfriend the exact same bag :) great minds think alike
My favorite project bag is one my son made for me - hand tooled and hand sewn leather, large enough to hold a sweater project. He's a fabulous leather worker and surprised me one Christmas with this fabulous tote-sized bag.botger than that, I make mist of my bags myself, using my quilting experience.
I don't usually travel with my WIP so i store them around the house in plastic containers i get from Dollar tree. But i'm an avid bag collector, LUV all kinds of bags. Thanks for your generosity.
I have never had a fancy project bag. I have several small cloth pouches and a variety of canvas totes that I use. You have so many pretty ones! I may have to treat myself one of these days!
My favorite project bags are the ones I make for myself. A basic lined, drawstring bag with a square or rectangular bottom depending on the bag size. The flat bottom helps cakes of yarn stay in place. I've made many for my knitting friends. My only commercial bag is a gray Fringe field bag. It's a great bag too, so it's nice to see that Grainline is filling that void.
I love the fact that you told us where you got your project bags, especially hear in the US! I don't have a favorite bag right now because I've been given several simple canvas bags as gifts (wow - I hope I can still be entered). I can't wait to check out the different companies you mentioned so I can find a favorite! I've been seen knitting while standing in line at the DMV, with the project stashed in my purse. Also at many different appointments and several lobbies while waiting for just about anything.....if I'm waiting I'm knitting 🤣 Thanks Caleb!!
I have never bought a good project bag. All I use is a ugly tote bag. I am a new subscriber. I haven't seen you before until this giveaway. Love those project bags, nice give away.
I have never owned a very high end project bag but the bags I do have are from a fellow youtuber. Ella from No Catchy Name makes some great bags and sets. Thank you for showing me more than I knew. Hugs to you. Congratulations on your Anniversary!!!! Cheers to many more.
Those are all so great! I love KnowKnits Goknit bags. They are super durable but think enough to just scrunch up and take with you. They have two snapped straps for attaching to belt loops are bigger bags. Three sizes as well so you can take big stuff with you! Thanks for your fun videos!
I'm too much of a newbie to have a favorite project bag maker yet. I use whatever is handy from a zip lock bag to a tote bag. 🙊 Would much prefer a lovely project bag.
I like to easily see the projects in the bag, so I typically just use/reuse a gallon size zip top bag to hold my pattern, row counter, and a ball or two of yarn. Once a project gets too big for the bag, I just leave it outside the bag or use a tote. The only “project” bag I purchased is from dellaQ, and it’s a simple small drawstring bag for a hat or sock. Thank you for sharing your favorites! ❤️🧶
Great bags. I would love to take a stab at making that bag. I love the bags from Teadoddles. They are box bottom & the mini maker bags fit a single cake to fit into my larger bags & stay protected. I own about 12 😱 and 3 larger maker bags that offer pockets for hooks & knitting needles & a felt patch for needles. I just love them.
I’m so glad to see I’m not the only one who has neglected getting good project bags even though I’ve been knitting a long time. I’m checking out lots of these in the links!
Newly returned to knitting before, project bags didn’t exist. Now they are everywhere and I love the idea. I’ve been exploring kinds of bags. The paisley and gold ones you shoes look great.
I’m just getting started and have been using plastic bags to keep my projects clean, and a canvas tote bag for travel. My son gave me the bag this year, for Valentine’s Day what a sweetheart!!!
My mother in law love to sew and is teaching me to use a sewing machine. Iv never had a bought project bag so this would be great not only to sew but also to have an actual project bag for my variety of knitting projects!!
I feel very lucky to say my mother in law has made my favorite one. It's small, perfect for a one skein project, but it fits so well in my purse, is so sturdy, and the lining has surprise mickey mouses all over it
Your MIL is a gem! I, too, enjoy sewing project bags: drawstring, snap, and zipper, always with boxed bottoms. I made learning to make such bags a goal during the restrictions. Fun to choose outer fabrics and linings designed to surprise and delight the recipient!
I never even knew there were specifically made knitting project bags! My favorite go to is a canvas tote from the knitting society at my uni - easy to carry, fits a lot, and clear on the purpose :)
Being on a tight budget I sew my own project bags for the most part. I always wanted a Fringe Field supply bag but it wasn’t in my budget. There is sense of accomplishment when you make your own bags. Enjoying your TH-cam channel. Thank you
I also adore my field bag and towne bag from fringe supply. I have a few bags from Katie- Songbird handmade and my other favorite is Morgan’s quilted bags from Shop Knitting Nellie
I haven't been able to knit, no matter, I keep trying. I love all different crafts with yarn and fabric. This will be an awesome project for holding my projects! Right now I am using some clear backpack from the back to school isle. I love it for finding my kidding crochet hooks
I tend to use any bag I have around so I don’t really have a favorite project bag but I am going to go check out all the ones you just showed off!! Thank you for this opportunity!!!
When I order a few skeins or more from my favorite yarn store (Twisted in PDX), they send them in these handy little drawstring bags that end up becoming my project bags. And occasionally my project-gift bags. :) Otherwise, my grandma's wooden project/notions box sits next to my favorite chair with whatever I'm working on currently in it. Thanks for sharing your favorites!
Currently I love my Della Q roll top because it’s my newest. I also love their drawstring bags and the oh snap bags. ( I guess I’m a walking Della Q advert lol) I’ve also started learning to sew and made a drawstring bag that I love.
my favorite bags have either snaps or a cord. Crafty Like a Monkey make super cute, affordable bags that are quilted and feel soft as well. And I REALLY Love the snaps!!
Happy Anniversary!! I love the project bags from Kitchen Klutter on Etsy. They have these amazing canvas bottoms and leather handles reminiscent of the Fringe Field bags.
I’m an official bag lady!😂 those are sooo cute. I would love to try one! Thank you 😁🧶💜 my favorite bag maker is a women here in Alaska named Kim. I found her bags in a local coffee shop. She’s awesome!💜😁🧶
My favorite knitting bag is the one I made by following a crochet tutorial on how to make one. It has the handle loop that lets you knit while standing. The funny thing is that it was a mystery CAL and for a while nobody new what we were crocheting. 🤣The second one I use is the sturdy square grocery box with the cloth material and flip bottom. While being a passenger in road trips, I work on my wip and the foldable box is on the car floor. The kit you are giving away seems sweet to have😍especially for air travel❣️
The search for a great project bag is always I’m going for me. However I have been a fan of the utility bags made by the company Thirty-One. I buy the medium size and can hold large projects. The best part about these bags are the multitude of patterns you can select from on a seasonal basis.
I sew project bags also!! I've never sewn leather or thick vinyl/faux leather. This would be an awesome bag. I have bought from a few people Ella no catchy name and Jane Wynn scraptastic yarns. Can't afford Cheryl boltz bags lol
I do not own the knitting bag of my dream but am in love with Madder Root trundle bags. Sewing is another passion of mine and I will be looking up the kits you just showed. Thanks for all of the information!
Like so many others here, I have never owned a “real” project bag. Mostly I reuse grocery bags😊. What a delight to hear your reviews of your favorites! Now I must get one -or 2 or 3- so my projects have a prettier (and sturdier) place to live!
I love bags from The Scrappy Thread on Etsy! They’re all different and so well made and she offers different sizes. Her flat sack notions bags are fantastic, too!
I LOVE pretty project bags for knitting, crocheting and cross stitch! My favorite right now is Painted Leaf Company project bag I purchased on Etsy. It is beautifully made. Different fabric inside and out, with a zipper on top and a clear plastic front so you can see your project! 💗
I actually don't have any bought project bags yet 🙈 I have simple fabric bags I got clothes in when I bought the clothes. Bugger bags that I have resewn into project bags. And then two that my cousin made for me. Basic zipperbag. But they are perfect to bring to work. So looking forward to many tips of good project bags :)
Reusing things you already have is a GREAT idea! I have a couple "project bags" that are really just little drawstring bags I received with other items and I actually really love them as well!
I've never purchased an already made project bag. Both of my current project bags I crocheted myself combining 3 different patterns. Cables for the front and back, a double strand side and bottom to keep everything solid, and a thick crossbody strap.
I absolutely love project bags One of my favorite ones I got in Washington State on San Juan Island. It was a tiny little knit shop for a tiny little island! I love the idea of making my own. What a great giveaway Thank you so much!
I have knitted and crocheted for years and only recently started using project bags due to having several WIPs on the go. I use shoppers or my own knitted or crocheted bags. Due to not having tapestry needles, measuring tapes etc to hand when I need them I have also recently purchased some notions pouches to keep with my WIPs 👍🏻♥️🌈
Hey Caleb. Really enjoy your enthusiasm, and look forward to your uploads. I recently started investing in small sewn in project bags. So right now my favorite maker is by Dogwood Knits. It’s a zipper closure, and rolls down into a yarn bowl when open.
My project bag is the small “Boat and Tote” canvas tote made by L.L. Bean. These totes are handy for tons of things. They are very durable and well made.
Even when you aren't traveling, project bags are a must for corraling your knitting! I don't have a lot of project bags. Most of the ones I have I made myself, because honestly I'm cheap and have a glut of fabrics. But I have several of the 'Pretty Cheap Bags' that I use all the time. Made of flour sack and screen printed in various colors, these basics hold enough for a medium project. Another maker I love Wuthering Sheep. They have a 'Roly Poly' collection of embroidered animals. These bags are wonderfully designed with interior pockets. I have one I got from YarnByrds.
My only project bag is a small bag my son made to hold the sock project which he used while making my socks and he then gifted the socks in the bag. Never owned a project bag and just gathered up what I am using and a plastic bag. That said, your video has show me the error of my ways. Thinking a kit for son would make a great gift for him.
I've never owned a project bag before and didn't really know that there was project bags for knitting until recently. The ones you showed look lovely though and the colors are beautiful.

So who won? I looked through all the comments to congratulate them and didn't find them.
Despite being an avid crochetter and knitter for years, I've never owned a high quality thoughtfully constructed project bag. My current project bags are those cloth drawstring bags that new bed sheets come in. It seemed like a waste to throw them out, so they became my project bags.
Wow! me too! They're awesome
I love using bags to store yarn in. I hate throwing things out that can be used too.
That is a great idea!
That's a great way to recycle! Love it!
I use them, too. They are transparent, so one can easily see what's inside and have a zip, so everything stays safe inside.
My favourite bags are from the Fat Squirrel. Her fabric choices never fail to make me smile!

I really like these vintage plastic totes for projects, they have a compartment at the top that’s entirely separate that is perfect for any notions (and honestly snacks) that I want separate from the yarn, but close by.
Snacks! genius!
I love Fringe bags and also Bookhou project bags. Great to hear kits for field bags are available!
I really love my Fringe Supply Field bag. I make bags myself and have given them to my knitting students when they finish their first project.
I’m always making my own bags and love the field bag. Love it.
I love beautiful project bags, I have made several draw string bags, but could always use some more. I love your channel.
the Erin Lane project bags are my personal fave!
I make all of my own bags, so my favorite is the one made with the waxed canvas i got for my birthday.
I’ve never had a “professional” project bag. My sister in law is an extraordinary seamstress and made my favorite project bag.
I love this! How sweet!
I use any reusable bag on hand--dollar store drawstring bags, reusable grocery bags, canvas totes...
I really love the rip stop bags made by know knits!
I do prefer draw spring bags as well. Erin Lane makes a lovely bag as does Toad Hollow. I have also purchased bags from The Fat Squirrrel, these are zippered bags. I am also fortunate enough to have friends who sew. All the makers mentioned make fabric bags.
These are great bags. I have several of Kristin Omdahl’s drawstring bags. I love how your bags have a zipper inside👍🏻.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻🧶🧶👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I love Prairie Bag Studio bags. Found her on Etsy. Would also love to see a Fringe or Joji bag in person. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Happy to discover your channel! My new favorite bag is made by MUUD. They’re beautiful and double as a purse!

My mom made my favorite project bag. She was an awesome creator, many times from her own patterns.
My favorite one I own is one my sister made me. Made with love and reminds me of her every time I look at it. Love your videos!
I really love Jessalu bags. They're so well made and there's a wide variety of patterns and sizes.
I like Myra shaving bags. I just happened along them and they are just the right size and have some structure to them
I Love Hide & Hammer bags. I have all the different sizes and never leave home without one. And randomly I also got my boyfriend the exact same bag :) great minds think alike

I love all different crafts with yarn and fabric. This will be an awesome project for holding my projects!
Right now I am using some clear backpack from the back to school isle. I love it for finding my kidding crochet hooks
I am so drawn to Joji and Co's project bags even though the price/shipping can be high
I tend to use any bag I have around so I don’t really have a favorite project bag but I am going to go check out all the ones you just showed off!! Thank you for this opportunity!!!
My favorite project bags have come from Cookie and Bees. They are colorful and very well makes skein coozies so your yarn is protected.
I've never had a perfession bag love to try thanks
Currently I love my Della Q roll top because it’s my newest. I also love their drawstring bags and the oh snap bags. ( I guess I’m a walking Della Q advert lol) I’ve also started learning to sew and made a drawstring bag that I love.

Happy Anniversary!! I love the project bags from Kitchen Klutter on Etsy. They have these amazing canvas bottoms and leather handles reminiscent of the Fringe Field bags.
Into the Woods is a local bag maker that I like. But I'd love to try new ones.
My favorite project bag is actually my son's computer bag ...holds up to 10 balls of yarn and half a blanket...
I love that hide and hammer bag with the great leather straps! How cute! I think I’m going to have to get one of those!
My favorite 'yarn bag' comes from Lowe's, and when it wears out you can go in and the lovely cashier will give you another one.
My favorite project bags are from madder root Maine! I love the way the trundle bags close.
Fridge Supply bags are my fav. Beautiful Syster is next on my list.
The search for a great project bag is always I’m going for me. However I have been a fan of the utility bags made by the company Thirty-One. I buy the medium size and can hold large projects. The best part about these bags are the multitude of patterns you can select from on a seasonal basis.
I use grocery canvas bags, and trying out any bag that I can find. and started sewing my own knitting bags :)
I've coveted the Fringe Supply bag but was never able to purchase one. I'd love the opportunity to make my own. It would be my favorite bag!
I love bags from The Scrappy Thread on Etsy! They’re all different and so well made and she offers different sizes. Her flat sack notions bags are fantastic, too!
My project bag is whatever old sports draw string bag I have lying around. I’ve never used a professional bag.
I LOVE pretty project bags for knitting, crocheting and cross stitch! My favorite right now is Painted Leaf Company project bag I purchased on Etsy. It is beautifully made. Different fabric inside and out, with a zipper on top and a clear plastic front so you can see your project! 💗
Really I have know project bag .but the one's that you showed are just beautiful and I love them.
I haven't purchased one yet, but really like the bags made by ChristieArcher Designs. Have admired the Fringe Field Bags, but not able to afford one.
I absolutely love project bags One of my favorite ones I got in Washington State on San Juan Island. It was a tiny little knit shop for a tiny little island! I love the idea of making my own. What a great giveaway Thank you so much!
I don't have any real project bags but I do love the ones you showed here. They all look very functional and really well made 🙂
I have knitted and crocheted for years and only recently started using project bags due to having several WIPs on the go. I use shoppers or my own knitted or crocheted bags. Due to not having tapestry needles, measuring tapes etc to hand when I need them I have also recently purchased some notions pouches to keep with my WIPs 👍🏻♥️🌈
I love Madderroot bags. They are so well made and they screen print their own designs on the bags.
I love the bookhou aesthetic and have been wanting one forever and I must have every version of the fringe in my Pinterest.
