Nah because I stopped watching after L died so Near isn’t in my headcannon and shouldn’t be in anyone else’s either since the ending sucked lol if Light was ever going to lose it had to be by L not some little kid that NOBODY likes as a character.

I think Lights english VA is the same as Rock's from Black Lagoon. Which is an anime I'll only ever eath dubbed and has some of the best English voice acting I've seen in anime

In this moment L knew that his death was coming soon and he just wanted to take this moment for both of them stop with the act and just be real to one another for once. That’s why he chose that spot on the rooftop while it was raining so no one could potentially hear them. L always knew Light was Kira but he just needed solid proof of course. When he asked Light if he has ever told the truth in his life and Light responded with that bs answer, he replied that he had a feeling he would say that because he just wanted to see if Light had any humanity left in him, which he didn’t. Light responding the way he did just showed L that Light wasn’t Kira, but in fact, Kira was Light, if that makes sense lol.

@@four1ne I wouldn’t necessarily call him a monster lol he’s a detective and it’s his job to do what he has to do in order to catch criminals and mass murderers. When it came to Light, the stakes were always extremely high just due to the powers of the Death Note and what Light was capable of with it. L needed to stop Light at all costs even if that meant having to sacrifice some people for the greater good. If he wasn’t going to do that then he might as well should’ve just called it a quits and let Light become God of the world, because that’s what would’ve happened.

so im confused. i think judging by the atmosphere that’s what the vibe gives. but how exactly did he predict his own death? one thing i wanted to point out was the part where there was on the stairs. i felt like he rubbed his feet to make light feel like a god. he enjoyed that but he couldn’t give himself away like that. so he cleaned L s hair off as l was rubbing his feet😂🤣🤣

The vibe of that whole episode, him on the rooftop and the whole conversation was a deep moment because L considered light a friend. L knew it would all be over depending the results if he challenged the 13 day rule. If his plan succeeded that would have created a pathway where he can fully convict light and in the rule book it’s said a shinigami can kill humans, or if the plan didn’t work (what went down in the show) or even if he didn’t challenge the rule, he wouldn’t be able to convict light and eventually light would get L. all possibilities lead to a chance at L dying and he knew it

If i remember correctly. This conversation happens when light forgets completely about the death note according to his plan. So the light yagami in this scene is actually telling the truth and is in fact not understanding what L is saying because he has no memory of his other self.

The main reason L lost was lights ability to win over the trust of the task force. If they had been listening to L they would have wanted to test the 13 day rule like L was planning to.
Anyone who says that Light defeated L because the police were against L or L died because of Rem only or L doesn't have superpowers blah blah I want to say that excuses can also be said for Light's side: like Light wouldn't have been defeated had it not been for Mikael's mistake or Light was He would have defeated and killed Near had it not been for Mello's sacrifice to make Near pay attention to the fake note etc. Making excuses is possible but the facts are that Light defeated L and Near and Mello cooperated to defeat Light

Ls death actually had me a bit depressed, I couldn’t stop thinking about how much he didn’t deserve to die for like a week straight. I wish he could’ve at last had some last words but once the heart attack hit he couldn’t even speak to do so. He just died.

If you actually listen to the way Light speaks, you can tell he’s a psychopath. His dialogue is far too contrived and methodical for it to seem organic. When questioned whether he has ever told the truth once in his life, rather than getting hostile and defensive at the insult, as most probably would, or even playing into it, Light put’s on a veneer of finely crafted words that would be most palatable to those who have a more logically inclined personality. Rather than say he never lies or admits that he does, he goes for the middle and says that he does, but only sometimes. But it isn’t so much of what he says, as it is how he says it. On the surface what Light said can be written off as an ordinary response, but how he delivers it expresses how truly psychopathic he is. When light replies, he replies as if there is an audience watching him rather than just L. It’s subconscious for normal people to be more relaxed in dialogue and speak more personally. If you pay attention to how Light gives his reply to L, you’ll find that Light’s reply to L was the same type of reply one would give during a conversation that takes place with a 3rd party involved, an observer. Light’s response is one you’d give when an observer is watching your conversion. The type of reply that paints you in a good light to others that are listening. This acute and subconscious style of conversational reply is psychopathic in nature, as a psychopath’s brain mainly revolves around themselves, which means they’ll be hyper focused on how they reflect to others and how others perceive them, hence Light’s response. Light’s response is characteristically psychopathic in nature, because it distinctly lacks empathy and is contrived for the purpose of producing the most appealing outward reflection of oneself to others. I’m not a psychologist so don’t take what I said here as fact. This is just my own personal observations, nothing more.
I agree, the entire series portrays Light as a psychopath. I think in this scene L was just genuinely curious about his only psychopath friend. He just wanted to know if something in his past made him like that or if he was born like that. Then he becomes disappointed when Light gives him the psychopathic response that he anticipated.

L finally met someone near equal in intelligence, yet they were destined to be enemies. Someone so similar yet different. This moment was bittersweet for me. I like to think there was more to this than just the realization that he was going to die very soon; he previously lied to Light, saying that he was his first ever friend. I think he knew just how alike they were the whole time Light was on the case, always lying, never able to form bonds with others because of it, letting their "games" get in the way of their feelings and thus living life. While Light was definitely a psychopath and incapable of changing at this point, I like to believe L feels conflicted about his similarities to Light and their relationship. Like part of the reason he knew with almost 100% certainty Light was Kira was because they were so similar in thinking. Had Light not been so vile maybe he would've been the only one to truly understand him, his first actual friend.
perhaps his jab at Light's honesty was somewhat of a last ditch effort to get him to truly reflect before L passed, an attempt to be real with him for once, even knowing that Light wouldn't give up on his reckless ambition because of his narcissism/god complex and greed. or maybe... it was a last f*ck you to Light. idk. It's fun to speculate though.
He did know. He tried to convince the task force, but he needed more time to invalidate the 13-day rule, which would have made Light the only plausible suspect throughout the investigation. He just didn't have enough time to prove it to everyone else, so he knew his time was coming.
L such an honest character to look up to. So different and mind blowing seeing Light change getting worse and worse of a person eventually just putting on a show even when his father passed away. Forever my favorite anime with its truth on life and lies.
L is a great character, but it is the entire point of his character that he’s just like Light personality wise, just on a different side. Their moral beliefs are different, but they are both liars with little to no empathy that are willing to let others be sacrificed for their plans and call themselves justice despite knowing deep down that they just don’t want to lose(even the Relight movies have a speech where L admits that he’ll eventually be caught and eaten by a lying monster because he is that type of monster). Really that’s also why I love manga Near. He had the perfect contrast, and the fact that he was so different from Light and didn’t respect Light as an intellectual equal(rather saw Light as a delusional psychopath), which made him being the one to survive and catch Light that much more impactful.
It's been said that L has always genuinely hated Light. That every percentage he was telling Light was always a lie and that he was always 95-100% certain he was Kira. When he realized there were two notebooks he knew it was over for him. He never thought of them as friends that was just to make Light feel some sort of guilt. Rewatching these scenes with this in mind changes the perspective. Even from right before this scene, L fakes not hearing what Light is saying just to have him walk out into the rain. As a sort of like "fk you" goof to him.
i think L was dissapointed when he realized he couldnt have a heart to heart with KIRA instead of light. when light gave his gross psychopath answer, L seemed really dissapointed that he couldnt ever get genuine honesty from kira himself. he didnt even care about getting evidence at this point, he just wanted to lay everything on the table to light, and light wasnt buying it

I have never seen such a deep,emotional and dramatic episode in my life. The way he was behaving before his death makes it more sad and deep,he could sense what was going to happen. RIP L you'll be remembered forever.
Not to mention he was still swinging for the fences trying to test out that fake Shimigami rule. He shouldn't have told Light what he was about to do at that moment but Rem might have caught him at that very moment anyway
The perfect moment right here is L Accepts His Death Knowing Light Will Kill him knowing that he had a friend at the end even thought they are enemy's.
Crazy thing is L always had his suspicions on Light prolly even knew he was Kira the whole time and still kinda took him under his wing and ended up dying for what he stood on
This is not a conversation between L.Lawliet and Light Yagami. It is an convo between the World's Greatest Detective and Kira. If you notice how L directly attacks him by asking him if he ever told the truth, and tbh Light seems to respond from Kira's pov

Wrong....Light did not respond from Kira's pov. In fact, even though he was so close to his victory, he did not let his guard down and still feared that L would catch his ploy in his final moments. Light reply was exactly opposite to Kira's personality. Kira told lies which constantly hurt the whole world.
also, by the way, after this scene he rubbed light’s feet just as Jesus did in the Bible to Judas, who was the one to betray him. While I’m not religious myself, it has a lot of references to deathnote and i was forced to learn it by my parents and my school. Inshallah, brothers!
Why do you think Jesus took the position of a slave by washing the disciples feet, even Judas, although they recognized him as their master? It’s sad because you can tell in L’s voice he really wanted to be wrong on his thoughts that light was Kira. Massively incorrect, have you read/watched the series? L literally despised Light throughout the investigation and wanted to prove that he Kira so he would win the 'game'. Just before this (non-canon) scene, the story was around L trying to find a way to disprove any of what Light may have done, which led him to the 13-day rule, which he suspected of being false - he was right. However, he needed 13 days to prove it wasn't a real rule and so was effectively forced to concede to Light. Light, however, still sees the two of them as playing the game and so refuses to slip up in any way, which is why he gave this answer. If anything, Light was the one hoping to continue the game (even still, though, not really). I highly recommend knowing more about the series, because that assessment is just plain wrong.

This was such a poignant scene. He knew Light was Kira, but I think L respects Lights intelligence. L never had friends, so even though they were low key going for each other, in these moments they made some good memories. Like then playing tennis for example. They were thinking about getting the other that whole game but the memory itself just seemed so fun. Or when Light and L both did the speech thing at the high school together. I really think that L considered Light a friend. This one time, he just wanted Light to be real with him before his death. Even if he was going to continue with killing him. Just be real.
Yea this is facts. In this moment L knew that his death was coming soon and he just wanted to take this moment for both of them stop with the act and just be real to one another for once. That’s why he chose that spot on the rooftop while it was raining so no one could potentially hear them. L always knew Light was Kira but he just needed solid proof of course. L felt all his conflicting thoughts this whole exchange was beautiful. From L accepting his fate to him wanting to believe in person he felt was closest to being a friend to him. L knew from the first few moments he met him(Specifically in that café scene I think). The bells are a methaphor taken from christianity for approaching death or weddings. In this case the death of L is the death of justice and the wedding is kira partnering in the creation of the new world (my opinion). The problem is that even tho L knew only he could understand because the japanese task force isn't on his level of intelligence which gave him a major disadvantage. L was looking for respect for the rivalry. He knew Light was Kira, Light knew that he had known. It was nothing he could do, except at least get Light to admit that he was Kira to his face even though L lost the war. If this interpretation is correct, Pliny understood that Christians were worshipping an actual historical person as God! You may have heard of the scholar Flavius Josephus who mentioned James as being the brother of the Lord Jesus Christ, which matches what Paul said calling James “The Lord’s brother” and there is another document that Josephus may have written which goes:

Now it’s up to debate wether this is the entirely original document of what Josephus wrote, or if a Christian had edited it. But regardless he wrote about the Lord Jesus Christ. Wether it was negative or positive like the possible document is. Anyways there are many other statements, documents, letters, and writings of all sorts from the ancient world talking about the Lord Jesus Christ and there is not one question if He was a real person or if He was crucified and went missing from the grave. That is clear as day, He is a real person, was crucified, and went missing from the grave. And He did rise from the grave. And for more evidence of the Lord Jesus Christ, there’s the Bible and you see there is no evidence the Bible is corrupted, a lie, created by the Roman government, folktale. When it came to Light, the stakes were always extremely high just due to the powers of the Death Note and what Light was capable of with it. L needed to stop Light at all costs even if that meant having to sacrifice some people for the greater good. If he wasn’t going to do that then he might as well should’ve just called it a quits and let Light become God of the world, because that’s what would’ve happened.

If i remember correctly. This conversation happens when light forgets completely about the death note according to his plan. So the light yagami in this scene is actually telling the truth and is in fact not understanding what L is saying because he has no memory of his other self.

If you actually listen to the way Light speaks, you can tell he’s a psychopath. His dialogue is far too contrived and methodical for it to seem organic. When questioned whether he has ever told the truth once in his life, rather than getting hostile and defensive at the insult, as most probably would, or even playing into it, Light put’s on a veneer of finely crafted words that would be most palatable to those who have a more logically inclined personality.
Rather than say he never lies or admits that he does, he goes for the middle and says that he does, but only sometimes. But it isn’t so much of what he says, as it is how he says it.
On the surface what Light said can be written off as an ordinary response, but how he delivers it expresses how truly psychopathic he is.
When light replies, he replies as if there is an audience watching him rather than just L.
It’s subconscious for normal people to be more relaxed in dialogue and speak more personally. If you pay attention to how Light gives his reply to L, you’ll find that Light’s reply to L was the same type of reply one would give during a conversation that takes place with a 3rd party involved, an observer.
Light’s response is one you’d give when an observer is watching your conversion. The type of reply that paints you in a good light to others that are listening. This acute and subconscious style of conversational reply is psychopathic in nature, as a psychopath’s brain mainly revolves around themselves, which means they’ll be hyper focused on how they reflect to others and how others perceive them, hence Light’s response.
Light’s response is characteristically psychopathic in nature, because it distinctly lacks empathy and is contrived for the purpose of producing the most appealing outward reflection of oneself to others.
I’m not a psychologist so don’t take what I said here as fact. This is just my own personal observations, nothing more.

I agree, the entire series portrays Light as a psychopath. I think in this scene L was just genuinely curious about his only psychopath friend. He just wanted to know if something in his past made him like that or if he was born like that. Then he becomes disappointed when Light gives him the psychopathic response that he anticipated.

L finally met someone near equal in intelligence, yet they were destined to be enemies. Someone so similar yet different. This moment was bittersweet for me. I like to think there was more to this than just the realization that he was going to die very soon; he previously lied to Light, saying that he was his first ever friend. I think he knew just how alike they were the whole time Light was on the case, always lying, never able to form bonds with others because of it, letting their "games" get in the way of their feelings and thus living life. While Light was definitely a psychopath and incapable of changing at this point, I like to believe L feels conflicted about his similarities to Light and their relationship. Like part of the reason he knew with almost 100% certainty Light was Kira was because they were so similar in thinking. Had Light not been so vile maybe he would've been the only one to truly understand him, his first actual friend.
perhaps his jab at Light's honesty was somewhat of a last ditch effort to get him to truly reflect before L passed, an attempt to be real with him for once, even knowing that Light wouldn't give up on his reckless ambition because of his narcissism/god complex and greed.

L such an honest character to look up to. So different and mind blowing seeing Light change getting worse and worse of a person eventually just putting on a show even when his father passed away. Forever my favorite anime with its truth on life and lies.
L is a great character, but it is the entire point of his character that he’s just like Light personality wise, just on a different side.
Their moral beliefs are different, but they are both liars with little to no empathy that are willing to let others be sacrificed for their plans and call themselves justice despite knowing deep down that they just don’t want to lose(even the Relight movies have a speech where L admits that he’ll eventually be caught and eaten by a lying monster because he is that type of monster).
Really that’s also why I love manga Near. He had the perfect contrast, and the fact that he was so different from Light and didn’t respect Light as an intellectual equal(rather saw Light as a delusional psychopath), which made him being the one to survive and catch Light that much more impactful.

It's been said that L has always genuinely hated Light. That every percentage he was telling Light was always a lie and that he was always 95-100% certain he was Kira. When he realized there were two notebooks he knew it was over for him. He never thought of them as friends that was just to make Light feel some sort of guilt. Rewatching these scenes with this in mind changes the perspective. Even from right before this scene, L fakes not hearing what Light is saying just to have him walk out into the rain. As a sort of like "fk you" goof to him.
i think L was dissapointed when he realized he couldnt have a heart to heart with KIRA instead of light. when light gave his gross psychopath answer, L seemed really dissapointed that he couldnt ever get genuine honesty from kira himself. he didnt even care about getting evidence at this point, he just wanted to lay everything on the table to light, and light wasnt buying it

Wrong....Light did not respond from Kira's pov. In fact, even though he was so close to his victory, he did not let his guard down and still feared that L would catch his ploy in his final moments. Light reply was exactly opposite to Kira's personality. Kira told lies which constantly hurt the whole world.
also, by the way, after this scene he rubbed light’s feet just as Jesus did in the Bible to Judas, who was the one to betray him. While I’m not religious myself, it has a lot of references to deathnote and i was forced to learn it by my parents and my school. Inshallah, brothers!

Massively incorrect, have you read/watched the series? L literally despised Light throughout the investigation and wanted to prove that he Kira so he would win the 'game'. Just before this (non-canon) scene, the story was around L trying to find a way to disprove any of what Light may have done, which led him to the 13-day rule, which he suspected of being false - he was right. However, he needed 13 days to prove it wasn't a real rule and so was effectively forced to concede to Light. Light, however, still sees the two of them as playing the game and so refuses to slip up in any way, which is why he gave this answer. If anything, Light was the one hoping to continue the game (even still, though, not really). I highly recommend knowing more about the series, because that assessment is just plain wrong.

This was such a poignant scene. He knew Light was Kira, but I think L respects Lights intelligence. L never had friends, so even though they were low key going for each other, in these moments they made some good memories. Like then playing tennis for example. They were thinking about getting the other that whole game but the memory itself just seemed so fun. Or when Light and L both did the speech thing at the high school together. I really think that L considered Light a friend. This one time, he just wanted Light to be real with him before his death. Even if he was going to continue with killing him. Just be real.
Yea this is facts. In this moment L knew that his death was coming soon and he just wanted to take this moment for both of them stop with the act and just be real to one another for once. That’s why he chose that spot on the rooftop while it was raining so no one could potentially hear them. L always knew Light was Kira but he just needed solid proof of course. When he asked Light if has ever told the truth and Light responded with that bs answer, he replied that he had a feeling he would say that because he wanted to see if Light had any humanity left in him. Light responding the way he did just showed L that Light wasn’t Kira, but in fact, Kira was Light, if that makes sense lol.

L felt all his conflicting thoughts this whole exchange was beautiful. From L accepting his fate to him wanting to believe in person he felt was closest to being a friend to him. From the foreshadowing to each word he chose to how he comes to term of both Kira existence and Light being his equal to him question existence it’s self as he ponder life and death outside forces he asked light does he lie to see if he was even still human if he was truly a friend or was his humanity gone when light reply with a calculated response he knew he was still alone left to wonder why it had to be light as Kira and what purpose was he truly playing in this long exchange keep in mind this was after the Kira is a different body that he was possessed the existence of shinigami the man was truly unhinged and it’s so subtle but completely a reflection of L Death note was not as smart as it wants to believe but cuts like this was masterful.

L knew from the first few moments he met him(Specifically in that café scene I think). The bells are a methaphor taken from christianity for approaching death or weddings. In this case the death of L is the death of justice and the wedding is kira partnering in the creation of the new world (my opinion). The problem is that even tho L knew only he could understand because the japanese task force isn't on his level of intelligence which gave him a major disadvantage. But if he were teamed up with the spk team near had or if he was teamed up with kids from wammies house orphanage he would have won a lot earlier even. L already knew he just didn't have the hard evidence to convince the les intelligent people. But in the end it didn't matter anyways. Light was bored and didn't do it for justice and L was bored, he stated that the reason he became a detective was not for justice but for the fun of "winning the game". He only takes cases he actually cares about so not to get bored. Ryuk was also bored. In short death note's story happened because of the people that were bored
L stated this entire winning the game thing in a speech he had trough a vocie call with the kids of wammies house. Most kids were schocked but only near and mello looked disinterested, this reminded L of himself which is one of the reasons on why L chose near and mello as most fit possible future detectives

L was looking for respect for the rivalry. He knew Light was Kira, Light knew that he had known. It was nothing he could do, except at least get Light to admit that he was Kira to his face even though L lost the war. This is because they did become friends and L was growing fond of, and lived and died for the idea of Light as Kira.
