    THE VIDEO IS EXTREMELY MISLEADING:-
MIT only Selects 5-6 students from India each year .
Comparing MIT with IIT's selection ratio and thinking 'MIT as backup option' is WILD !
MIT has a very Strong Research Culture (101+ Nobel Laureates and 25+ Turing Awards)
Please don't think all of these come's EASY
MIT that has a self imposed quota on international Students i.e at 10% of the class size and want to take students from 50+ countries
So It's true that for an American it might be slightly easier to get into MIT than for an Indian to get into Old IITs(CSE)
But chances of getting into MIT from India/China without a gold at any of the International Science Olympiads is almost zero (Except if You have Published Research at a Top International Journal while in high School)
I have qualified JEE Advanced and have also prepared for IMO and was able to qualify for INMO .
Jee advanced is extremely tough but nothing compared to IMO or any of the Science Olympiads at the International Level .
Even at the INMO level the questions are hella Difficult . A typical JEE topper will break to sweat without prior exposure to those type of problems.
    SAT DOESN'T really MATTER!
(The Quantitative Section is 8th- 9th grade level math in India)
It's only a rejection tool and not a selection tool for choosing among Strong Candidates .
Stanford/Harvard/MIT all reject more than 70% of applicants with a perfect 1600 in SAT .
Chinese Student prepare for Olympiads very early as Olympiad Medalists brings glory to their country and are EXEMPT from GAOKOA .
While in India only recently IIT Gandhinagar and IIIT Hyderabad have started to grant admission to Olympiad Students for CSE Degree (IIT Kanpur might Join soon!)
IITs have 15k seats and is affordable for many .
Berkeley,GT, Carnegie Mellon are amazing schools if you can afford !(2cr+ is the cost )
I would request you guys to do your UG at any of IITs or any college you get in . Study HARD and apply for Masters/PhD at MIT or Stanford!

    • @swastikjoshi
      @swastikjoshi 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +26

Finally, someone with brains! So many students are misled into believing they can get into MIT by just scoring high in the SAT and even JEE. In reality, they do not even consider international students without an Olympiad medal. Indian citizens who applied got in even before JEE/Boards were conducted. Also, the majority of kids who got into top US colleges for UG have parents who are professors and have connections so they can publish research papers, start a nonprofit, publish a book, go to summer schools, etc. They are extremely privileged than a normal Indian preparing for JEE.

@@nitroNM8328you need to get to the international level first and if the admission officers have two choices: to choose you who just reached the international level and the other who's a medalist in international level
They will obviously choose the medalist so it's very hard and Olympiad is also very hard and is not for everyone because there are people better than you as they have been preparing since 5th-6th grade.
So mit is everyone's dream school.

I have seen few international students profile ,it wss hard to believe so much credentials beyond academic are enlisted.
Our Indian education heavily inclined towards theory.
But brilliant academics, and paper presentation, Olympiad and IIT s are need to apply.

      2. If applicable, submit a Research Supplement or Creative Portfolio for arts, music, or humanities achievements.
      ---
      Interview
      1. Participate in an interview with an MIT Educational Counselor (EC) if offered.

The pursuit of prestige, superiority and non egalitarianism destroys an engineers success. Illinois Tech is so undervalued in the US. Indian Institutes of Technology are undervalued too. If pursuing MIT is so critical, why has climate not been conquered or the world's economic and wealth inequalities. Money and power are the problems and destroy initiative.

Getting admission to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is highly competitive and involves multiple steps. Below is a comprehensive guide with all details:

      Academic Preparation
      1. Excel in high school academics, particularly in math, science, and technology-related courses.
      2. Take challenging courses like AP (Advanced Placement), IB (International Baccalaureate), or other rigorous programs if available.
      3. Maintain a high GPA (above 3.5 on a 4.0 scale is competitive).
      ---
      Standardized Tests
      1. Submit SAT or ACT scores if applying through test-inclusive policies.
      - SAT: Aim for 1500+ (out of 1600).
      - ACT: Aim for 33+ (out of 36).
      2. Take two SAT Subject Tests (discontinued in 2021) or excel in relevant Advanced Placement (AP) exams.
      ---
      Extracurricular Achievements
      1. Demonstrate leadership and sustained commitment in extracurricular activities such as STEM competitions, clubs, research, or entrepreneurial ventures.
      2. Highlight unique achievements like winning international/national Olympiads, patents, or innovative projects.
      ---
      Research and Innovation
      1. Engage in independent research or internships in STEM fields.
      2. Publish research papers, create prototypes, or contribute to significant advancements in your area of interest.
      ---
      Application Process

      2. Complete the MIT-specific application essays. Topics may include why you want to study at MIT, challenges you have overcome, or your passion for innovation.
      3. Pay the $75 application fee (or request a fee waiver if needed).
      4. Submit official high school transcripts.
      ---
      Recommendations
      1. Provide two strong letters of recommendation:
      - One from a math or science teacher.

      2. Recommendations should highlight intellectual curiosity, problem-solving skills, and contributions to the classroom.
      ---

It isn't much of an advantage, but it isn't a disadvantage either. You may be eligible to apply for financial aid, depending on your household income. Your chance of admission is dependent on your high school achievements. Good Luck, as it is pretty much impossible for Indians without success in olympiads.
