Thank God someone finally said that IIT degree won't matter while applying to MIT for post graduation. My final goal has always been to get in MIT/Stanford for graduate programs but I couldn't get into a good IIT so I was still wondering if I should drop a year to prepare for JEE again. This video pretty much saved me a year. Thank you.

Great content as always. Some pointers.
    1) The bit about being innovative (very important). Great example. I feel you could have emphasized on this more. What kind of research experience? It should be research published in national/local conferences by IEEE/ACM. International conference papers will surely stand out.
    2) GRE/GPA : As high as possible (if you're from an average college). Aim for a perfect score.
    3) College : Yes it matters. You're college ranking in India matters. Are you from an IIT, NIT, BITS? If not then all other factors become deciding and critical.
    4) LORs : Recommending professor should be of international recognition. He should have published papers which have large number of citations. If he studied/worked/know a professor at MIT/Stanford/Harvard , then it will become more easier to get.
    5) Essays : I suggest you cold email all previous graduate students and ask them for help in reviewing you're essays/SOPs.
If you met all the above criteria you will get a full funded graduate program by Stanford/MIT definitely.

hey harnoor! I will be completing my bachelors in physics from the University of Arizona. So, how do we compare the Indian students who have done bachelors in American universities and those from IITs like if there are 2 Indians- one from American top 100 unis and the other from IIT/NIT with similar GPA and research work, who will get the preference for admission into top 5 unis like MIT, Berkeley, etc for PhD/MS? I believe American university because the GPA and research work/internships from American places are more relatable and understood by the American professors, right? PLLZZZ answer!

I don't think Gre really matters , what matters is your research interests and experience. GRE is just a qualifying exam. Most important is grade, research experience, your SOP , that's all. MIT takes those students who are sharp in their field and can bear the research pressure of MIT. In a nutshell, study and do research
    That's all

Don't misinform people. What you are talking about is more for MS. It is near impossible to get in a grad(PhD) program at any top US university in that field and when talking about MIT only 20-30 people get in single program who are chosen among best of the best because only top undergraduates apply for PhD program. Also it is almost always free to do PhD you are paid a bare minimum salary, enough to live a life, ranging from 30k-40k/annum depending on the program.

I want to tell you it is not easy to get admission in MIT for graduate, but more than 95% students in graduate are early have exposure to American studies and if the students in India are early exposured in 10th or 11th grade then number of under grad will also increase in MIT, Harvard, Stanford eg, they have completed their under grad in america and familiar with their study pattern while, on the other hand, for undergrad from India, Institutes as MIT and other top universities is totally a different thing that is the main reason bro. I hope you understand
