    Just a word of advice to Keith dont sell all your assets in the UK and bring the money to Thailand it can end up in tears and he could end up homeless and at his age. to be honest if you have 4 houses keep them rented and live off that after 28 years here ive seen so many older guys get completely ripped off and go back with nothing.

    Interesting vlog. I do respect those expats who start side projects for their loved ones. Here in Pattaya many restaurants and bar leaseholders are farang. They always say they are "owners" yet none own the land or the building. They employ many Thai which is a great thing for the economy. Most important is to stay healthy, stay engaged, active, and moving under your own power.. Peace and Love guys

    I surprised a Rat Snake of similar size as it was passing my Indian Hut door just as I decided to go outside and what amazed me was how it raised itself up to basically do a fast get away at quite some speed. An interesting fact is for as fast as a snake can Strike the reaction of a common Cat is faster and why they will often tease or play with a Snake always managing to avoid any attempt to strike it. Humans on the other hand react far slower and in danger of being bitten if they found themselves too close and the Snake feels it is in danger and strike out.

    As a farang, living in Laos for 4 years now, i can tell that i do not regret the day i moved here.
    I have my marriage visa, and i can work in our shop (not market stall) without being bothered, in Thailand this will be a huge problem within a few years, as the Tourism is not back as it is supposed to be, and the "know-how" is not coming to the country due to these harsh conditions ...

Every time my wife starts to talk a little smack about bar girls, I have to remind her if it weren’t for bar girls I probably wouldn’t have been interested to seek out a Thai wife after that introductory trip.

    The one thing that most farangs fail to do is to look at the market opportunity for their "on the side" enterprise. You will be selling at local farm gate prices into very small markets.

    The info at the end about setting up a company and working (legally) as an expat is not quite right. You need a work permit, which requires you to employ at least 4 full-time Thai staff and there is no relaxation of this for people in a marriage visa. Also people on retirement visas are not allowed to work at all. Otherwise enjoyable video as usual. best regards

    • @thenakedguru
      @thenakedguru  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey Adrian, i woke up last night and remembered i had said you can work on a retirement visa haha, which as you say is incorrect, it would have to be a non-B or marriage visa. With a marriage visa you only need 2 Thai staff to issue a work permit, i know because i have done this one. Thanks for the correction there, glad you enjoyed the video!

    He needs to get on with it, the average male life expectancy in Wales is 78.7 years. Of course I hope he stays in good health and lives past that. If he's paid his 35 years he'll be getting a full pension plus earnings off his properties even if he has nothing else that is more than enough for Thailand.

      @@PeterC245 the UK pension is not good at all at £203.85 a week if you've paid in the full 35 years of national insurance contributions and it's definitely not means tested. Pensions(public or private) are taxable but we have a starting tax threshold of £12,570 so none of his public pension would be liable. Obviously any income over this amount, capital gains from selling or rental income would be liable to tax at the appropriate rate. Sorry I got carried away there 😂

    It also depends on where you want to live. Even though I admire you for being able to live in the countryside, I know that would not be for me. When I retire, it will be either a condo in CHiang Mai or Bangkok or a house close to the see in Hua Hin, PKK or on an island. Then it's clearly not the same budget. I guess half a million US$ is enough, especially if you have a western country pension.
